Easily the most stacked. Diamantidis, Jasikevicius, Spanoulis, Nicholas as Guards. With Chatzivrettas (huge Iraklis player) as the 5th option. Fotsis, Tsartsaris, Kecman, Perperoglou, and Sakota (went on to have a good career with AEK) as Forwards. NBAer Nikola Pekovic, and Euroleague Legend Mike Batiste as Centers. Each Position had 1 or 2 Hall of Fame calibre options. Coached by Zeljko Obradovic, with assistant coach Dimitris Itoudis. And Pavlos and Thanasis Giannakopoulos as Executives. How can a team get any better? And the thing is, we weren't playing against weak opponents. CSKA was a Powerhouse back then with JR Holden (hugely underrated legend), Trajan Langdon, Ramunas Siskauskas, Matjaz Smodis, Zoran Planinic, Nikos Zisis, Erazem Lorbek, Viktor Khryapa... Solid team. Olympiacos was on the rise with Vujcic, Greer, Papaloukas, Bourousis, and a young Teodosic. Even the Siena we beat in the Playoffs were 5 years or something back-to-back Italian Champions, with Romain Sato, Terrell McIntyre and Henry Domercant in their roster.

I miss that basketball, when every team had its own identity and style, while today almost everyone plays the same way, it's generic basketball. There were European players that the Americans knew nothing about, and to us in Europe they were legends. Željko's PAO, CSKA, Montepaschi, then Baskonia (true fans will always call it Tau Ceramica), Pini Gershon's Maccabi, Scariolo's Unicaja, late 90s/early 2000s Virtus, Benetton, Fortitudo...

Panathinaikos 2009 is by far the greatest team to have played in modern Euroleague at least, possibly all-time (I don't know for sure, born in 1994). I remember having this ZEN mentality that "if we don't screw up big time, we win". I never ever had something like this in any team I supported ever again.

That PAO was the best European team since 2000, but the all-time best European team is Jugoplastika, which won 3 Euroleagues in a row. Toni Kukoč, Dino Radja, Zoran Savić, Luka Pavićević, Zoran Sretenović, Velimir Perasović, veteran Duško Ivanović, etc... Partizan had a better team on paper with Vlade Divac, Žarko Paspalj, Aleksandar Đorđević, Saša Danilović, Željko Obradović.. But Jugoplastika is the best managed team. Željko Obradović's mentor, the father of Yugoslav basketball, Aleksandar Nikolić, was then the mentor of Božidar Maljković at Jugoplastika.

@@skatiarhs007 Respect every era. Jugoplastika was legendary for a reason. And back then there were different legendary teams. Milano, Maccabi, Aris, Split, PAOK, Cibona. Also Badalona had Obradovic. And won a Euroleague. Something that not every team can say. Split has won as many Euroleagues as Olympiacos. And they did it in 3 seasons back to back. Something that has never been done since. They had Kukoc (NBA legend, multiple time NBA champion), Radja (huge player at the time, won a championship everywhere he went, was huge in both Olympiacos and Panathinaikos), and Perasovic. They were also coached by Bozidar Maljkovic. A guy that brought you your first Euroleague in 1996. Just because you don't know, it doesn't mean they don't matter. Let arrogance for the others in the port. It's not our thing.

@@skatiarhs007 There's no better proof that you haven't watched much basketball if you claim that today's basketball is much better. American players who come to Europe today are 3rd class players, while before star players like Bob McAdoo, Dominique Wilkins, Rolando Blackman, Antonio Davis, Spencer Haywood, Reggie Theus, Walter Berry, Eddie Johnson, Roy Tarpley, Willie Anderson, etc came to Europe. Today, 18-year-old kids who haven't achieved anything significant in career go to the NBA, while in the past only the best players went, but even they didn't always go. Dejan Bodiroga never wanted to leave Europe. Dino Rađa decided to go to Roma instead of the Boston Celtics in 1990. He was paid like Diego Maradona in Napoli. There are no more authentic European stars playing in the Euroleague.

What made the refereeing mistake glaring to Panathinaikos Coach and Chairmen was that they were already aware of the intention of the referees to push CSKA before the game. Zeljko in his post semi-final interview had mentioned "strange things" happening. They knew that even the difference of 25 points would not be enough to give them a straightforward final. Very good analysis boys I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am a Panathinaikos fan from Athens. For sure that team was the best of its history . I remember that 2008-09 season the team din't start very well , but the last 3-4 months in all competitions the games they played were great. Maybe the team wone the 2 matches in the f4 with only 2 points diferrence but generally at the end of the day was a little bit better from its oppo0nents in all matches. The team has 10 almost equal players. By the way, it was a great f4, we watched 3 great games (2 semis and the final). So, objectively i put this team as the greater in euroleague history (from 2001) together with Maccabi Tel Aviv 2004-05, CSSKA Moscow 2007-08, Barcelona 2009-10 & Real Madrid 2017-18. And I love both Saras and Siska. They gave great moments played with my favorite team. !

Besides Alvertis who was semi retired, the oldest one Saras was 33 and a bit off, Chatzivrettas was also quite old and Sakota too young but they were the last options anyway, Spanoulis had a bit more upside to give, but the rest of them where solid. Current day Real has legendary players on their roster but I doubt that Rudy, Llull and Chacho could carry the team for a whole season if it wasn't for the younger player core

Well as I wrote again you are too young but guys you have a basketball show and you seem that you have no idea how dominant diamantidis was he completely controlled defense and offense at the same time he is the most complete player in the modern history of Euroleague its difficult of course to realize such a thing if you didn't watch his era
