Here in Greece ive never heard of a redwood tree before... I watched a video to learn that trees are not common anywhere... for example in usa there are sekoya s trees while also here in Greece dont exist... and so on... some trees to grow only in Asia etc... If i ever meet a redwood tree i give it a huge hug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And sit underneath it...

I'm from Greece too and I know that in Greece there are more fir than other countries. I understand with this trees how beautiful trees are, but still can't understand why people burn them

well, its not all bad, sequoia trees are a very odd tree they actually need heat in order for their seed pods to open up, so sometimes fire can benefit the trees.@@user-pn3kh6dq6v

You can get them as seedlings Sequoias are very adaptive They were native in europe once but the ice age killed them all

, that is definitely not the most massive tree on earth I've seen bigger because I've been in the Redwoods myself and I seen one bigger a trunk bigger than five cars in a circle

This is an adolescent Sequoia tree in the Mariposa Grove. Sequoia are the biggest trees on earth. Redwoods are the tallest. They are related, but not the same.

I miss when i was like 5 and all trees seemed this big to me. Their was this willow by my old house and i could have swore it was like 300 ft arround but i went back and it was only like 50ft arround. Sire was better being a kid before the god awful smart phones

@@ivanalvarez5511 They are both part of the sequoia genus, Giant Sequoia being Sequoiadendron Giaganteum, and Redwoods being Sequoia Semperviren. But both have very different characteristics.

@@cowfat8547 sequoia’s aren’t types of redwoods, however they’re closely related. Giant Sequoias are the sole member of their own family

@@spookyssn No the family is the cypress family, the subfamily is Sequoioideae which is simply just referred to as redwoods. The three trees that make up this subfamily are the Giant Sequoias (like this video), the Coast Redwoods that you would find in the Bay Area, and the Dawn Redwoods of China. So redwoods and sequoias are the same thing, just depends on wether or not you refer to them by their scientific name or not.

@@SER915 there was a giant sequoia in 1906 that was 390 ft tall and it was 2x the size of general Sherman, 390 is taller than Hyperion, 10 ft taller. do some research before you talk

Redwoods are the tallest trees on earth. There’s no denying that. Sequoia are the largest. This tree in the video is an adolescent in the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite. It’s not even in the top 15,000 of Giant Sequoia specimen. I believe the video was just making a generalization by showing “a” Sequoia, while talking about its much bigger siblings.

There are taller trees, Coastal Redwoods are much taller but by volume the Sequoia is the biggest. What they don't mention is that this tree is 36 feet (11 meters) in diameter .

Also this Sequoia is 17.5 feet in diameter at 60 feet. That's still wider then the base of most Coastal Redwoods which from my research are between 10 and 15 feet in diameter. They are taller but much thinner.
