MOST MAJESTIC TOYOTA SUV EVER - REVEAL OF TOYOTA CENTURY SUV

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the world reveal of the all-new Toyota Century SUV, unveiled just a few minutes ago in Japan. Toyota simply calls this the New Century (without the word SUV), but this is definitely the Sport Utility version of the legendary Century sedan. This time around, however, this Century SUV shares its basic platform with the Lexus TX, including the 3.5L V6 plug in hybrid powertrain. However, this Century is completely customizable and will rival such models as the Rolls Royce Cullinan. David provides first hand introduction to this model.

    David I appreciate what I think is a highly refined conservative look. Looks like a lot a leg room in the back seat. Very nice double headlight and rear light design. I like the large display for passengers riding in the back. The unique two tone reminds me of the older year Sequoia model SUV. Great review as always.

    No one can deny that it is a straight copy of a Rolls Royce Cullinan. Also has those stacked-up headlights as seen in BMW's current X7, 7 series + XM, as well as the Hyundai Kona. Not really what you'd call 'original' design is it 🤔

    Since no one has driven this vehicle except people in toyota, I'm not sure about the following. So my speculation is that since this vehicle drops some luxury features like the TNGA-L platform and air suspension, it's not going to be as luxurious as the century sedan (wish I'm wrong here), or the air suspension will available as an option. Or could it be a feature reserved exclusively for a potential lexus version of this to replace the LS sedan? 🌝

    What's happening in Toyota's mindset? Century is supposed to keep the traditional Japanese aesthetics. As a matter of fact, whole world outside Japan is astonished by the uniqueness and brilliance of previous Century generations! Most gorgeous Century of all times is the facelift of First generation. Second generation is beautiful too. Century used to mean hood mirrors, wool, lace, gearbox stick on steering column, flip down portal in front passenger seat back. Designwise Century used to be the opposite of Western= Teutonic. Century wasn't a Japanese Rols Royce before, despite what Narcissists claim! But, this Century SUV is definitely the Japanese version of Rols Royce! Am I wrong? Interior seems nice, yet nothing extraordinary in comparison with some established aftermarket workshops, who upgrade previous generations of Land Cruiser. Toyota Alphard and Toyota Velfire seem to be more spacious inside and their seats are huge. It seems that times have changed, thus Century is not at the top of Toyota's ranking anymore. Am I wrong again?

    @@electrikoptik you'd be surprised, designers frequently look to icons of the past, and the original Escalade is iconic for how it influenced the industry. It'd be ignorant at best to think otherwise.

    @@JDubbs07 There is nothing iconic about the Escalade. It’s an SUV with little history that was essentially a badge engineered Tahoe/Yukon. The Century has a rich history dating all the way back to 1967. The grill that you think looks like the Escalade has been used for decades on the Century before the first gen Escalade even came out in 1999. I suggest you go take a look at past generation Century models.

    @@electrikoptik there is a lot that's iconic about the Escalade, your failure to see that is a personal problem. Fair point about the Century's design lineage though. Although there are also Cadillac's from that era that also employ a three box design for the front fascia like the Century.

  • @electrikoptik

    @electrikoptik

    @@JDubbs07 The luxury SUV market was already thriving before the introduction of the Escalade. The Range Rover arguably initiated the luxury SUV trend way back in 1970, followed by the G-class in 1979. However, it's worth noting that the first luxury G-class didn't appear until the second generation W461 in 1992; the first generation W460 was primarily utilitarian in design, reflecting its original intended use. In 1995, Lexus introduced the LX 450, which was based on the legendary Land Cruiser. Not to be left behind, Lincoln debuted the Navigator in 1997. On the mid-size SUV front, Mercedes launched the ML in 1997, followed by the Lexus RX in 1998. The Escalade entered the scene in 1999, a direct response to the burgeoning luxury SUV market. That said, I'm struggling to understand what makes the Escalade "iconic." It neither started a trend nor visibly influenced other luxury brands. Its presence is primarily limited to the North American market. While the Escalade might be perceived as "iconic" within its niche of buyers and celebrity owners, this admiration might not extend much beyond that sphere. It's somewhat analogous to a mother deeming her child the best-looking kid on the block. Furthermore, the current trend leans towards "boxy" SUVs, a design language the Escalade doesn't inherently carry, given its relatively young model history. The current boxy designs, like the Defender and the new GX, trace their lineage back to the era when SUVs predominantly sported that shape. I'm curious to understand: what makes the Escalade iconic in your eyes? What trends did it pioneer, and which luxury SUVs did it influence?

    Americans finds away to importing the 2024 Toyota Century SUV and Toyota Century sedan before 25 years import law in the US by ordering the 2024 Toyota Century SUV and Toyota Century sedan from Japan to the US. Don't be surprised the 2024 Toyota Century SUV and Toyota Century sedan running around in California and Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, New York, British Columbia, Ontario, etc beside Japan. Rolls Royce and Bentley not planned to bringing the Rolls Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga to the US but, an Americans ordered it and Rolls Royce and Bentley never looking back since that. The 2024 Toyota Century SUV and the Toyots Century sedan fitting in nicely in LA or Miami, Boston, New York City, Vancouver, Toronto, etc beside Tokyo. If Toyota bringing the Toyota Century SUV and the Toyota Century sedan to the US no one thinks Toyota making a Rolls Royce and Bentley fighters w \ a cheaper price. Toyota planning to bring the Toyota Sienna and Toyota Tundra to the world beside the North America market like China and Japan, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
