Most Flattering Eye Makeup For Your Eye Shape | NewBeauty Tips and Tutorials

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

When applying eye makeup you have to take into account your eye shape. For instance, a smoky eye might look better on one eye shape over another. Also, the shade of eyeshadow you use might make your eyes look bigger or smaller. Basically, to find the most flattering eye makeup look, you have to cater to your specific shape. Watch this video and see how celebrity makeup artist Christina Henry applies makeup to downturned, protruding, deep-set, hooded and monolid eyes.

I love the monolids, it's a shame Asian girls often don't appreciate it and do everything they can to have more "western" eyeshape. :c

I'm confused! Why would anyone want to change their eye shape? I thought this video was supposed to show how to do makeup looks for YOUR shape and how to enhance it. Not change it.

So... You idea of "ideal eyeshadow" is to make every eye look almond-shaped? Every eye shape is beautiful. If we all had almond eyes, it would be very boring, wouldn't it? Differences make us unique, let's embrace them not try to take them away.

Ppl used to make fun of monolids back then, but all I see on TikTok now is white girls asianfishing, doing the fox eye to give the illusion of a slanted eye, and some actually taping their double lids. It’s insane.

This lady doesn't know crap. All the looks look like the models aren't wearing anything on their eyes at all. I have hooded eyes, and in reality the look she did wouldn't even show up on them. And I cringed so hard seeing her apply the mascara in the way she did. It doesn't matter if you have Lorac or Smashbox or whatever brands if you suck at applying makeup.

Not a fan of this approach. She talked about doing everything like she was trying to hide or change people's flaws, as if their distinct eye shapes were flaws. She even said she was trying to make her round eyes into an almond shape... or create a nonexistent crease, like double eyelid almond eyes are the ultimate standard of beauty. wasn't a huge fan of her looks either, the look on the Asian eyes didn't flatter her at all. I have seen better more positive tutorials out there, this one doesn't cut it

roxslide Yes so true. I thought it was kind of strange when she started out saying "Lovely monolid" and then proceeded to apply makeup to "add more of a crease"... as if monolid isn't as "lovely" as she said it was. I felt like my eyes were none of these too.... bad tutorial overall.

@@meymey7596 some people prefer not having it on the bottom lashes, and some don't even need it. I for example have bottom lashes that are long and dark enough to not use mascara there (depending on eye makeup look i might add it anyway as dark eyeshadow might require even darker lashes, but more neutral colours then it's not necessary at all). That said, I don't like what this makeup artist did but the bottom lashes isn't the problem. The only half of the lash coated for the redhead was cringeworthy, with lashes that pale it didn't look good when the mascara was applied that way.

Okay this is a rant. Why is it that something was always wrong with the eyes. If they were out she wanted them pushed in, if they were in she wanted them to look pushed out. If the eyes were down turned she wanted them up. If there wasn't a crease she had to make one... I thought makeup was supposed to be about enhancing your natural features, not changing them...

+Lexi B I don´t think she ment that something was wrong with the eye shapes. But with different shapes you have to be careful what to do. For example I have hooded eyes and I was often trying out different make up tutorials on me and my sister. On my sister they really looked very good but I couldn´t do these on me, it always ended in a huge mess on my face. Then I realized that it had to do with my eye. I have to be careful not to emphasize my hood. Don´t get me wrong I love my eyes but you have to know how to do the make up right. (sorry for any mistakes I am from Germany my english is not the best). I hope I was able to explain my point with my poor english.

Because it is all about creating a balanced look. Seems to go for all aspects of facial features, eye color, eye shape, face shape, nose, etc. With a long oblong face, for example, you don't want to elongate it further so you contour accordingly; they even say how to do eyebrows to balance out face shapes. Oblong face, eyebrows straight across to shorten face. Of course, you can do your eyes, makeup, eyebrows, etc. the way you choose.

When you want to go in with Eyeliner just try to make a really really thin line and wing out the and below your hooded crease. Try to do the wing with your eyes looking straight in the mirror to see where it would still be visible and not hidden by the hood. I've got hooded eyes too and this works for me pretty well! ;)

I have hooded eyes too!! An amazing tip I learned is to apply linee to your upper waterline. Its made a HUGE difference. Then I apply a light shimmery color such as rose to my lower lid and then blend a taupe to the crease. LOVE my eyes now

I know they might not be ideal for applying makeup but I really like my hooded eyes. I don't think I would look normal without them and I feel like they just make me look good. I feel this way about minolids too. We're always told that if we have monolids that we need to pretend we have a lid and if we have hooded eyelids we need to pretend that out crease is higher. I feel like we should enhance our unique features instead of disguising them. I know some people are going to say "why did you click on the video then?!" I actually kinda thought it was going to be like what I previously mentioned. Having no crease isn't a bad thing. Having a deep crease isn't a bad thing. You're eyes are beautiful and you shouldn't have to cover up what people tell you to unless you don't like it.

So, basically, whatever shape your eyes may be, they're wrong, and you must try to hide them with makeup or else you'll scare the poor people who have the unfortunate job of looking at you.

The chosen make-up application for the monolid made me shudder. I personally wish that I had been born with such unique beauty. But unfortunately, the Filipina in me is apparently obstinate. Point being.. there was just too much make-up applied in my opinion. Her natural beauty was just stunning. As most Asian women tend to be drop dead gorgeous even without wearing war paint.

Isabel Vo Yeah but they could have shown a more exaggerated hooded eyes like they did with the others. It almost feels like a cop-out whenever I see tutorials for hooded lids that aren't THAT hooded because those are honestly pretty damn versatile eyes. I have hooded eyes and that was completely useless for me, basically.

I really liked this video. It doesn't show the "perfect eye make up" like in most of the videos that I watch where they need like 30 min to explain. It doesn't have that lot of details because it is just very simple make up for every day, not for a party. Luckily me , I found what I was looking for, because I don't know how to make a descent and simple make up because even for an easy make up I end up looking different with my different eye shape and they mostly have eye liner and stuff like that. Thank you for the video, it gave me some ideas. I'm happy that we have the freedom to decide how to do our make up so if you think it's crap. OK but don't need to just leave negative comments because everyone else does.

+Savatey Heang I think I know what she means, people often say to me I have "cat eyes" (I've gotten my eyes look like panthers eyes) but I've got down turned hooded eyes at the same time. I think the top of my eyes are hooded and droops a bit lower over the ends (so doing a winged eyeliner is near impossible) which is associated with puppy eyes but the bottom lid curves up in a way to make it look more almondy. like more of the bottom of the pupil shows than the top by a lot

I don't think there is a "most flattering look for your eye shape." I wear makeup alot, and I think it's a work of art. I think you are your own artist. It's like painting on your face, and see what you create.
