The “Most Extreme Declutter and Organize Series”is here! In today’s video I declutter and organize my entire kitchen. This is a long and VERY chatty video. In this series I will be decluttering and organizing my entire home, the end goal is to become as minimalistic as I possibly can! I am over all of my things, I am tired of spending a large portion of my day cleaning, organizing and keeping up after all of my things, so I am getting rid of A LOT, A LOT! This is a new journey for my family and I. I don’t know a whole lot about minimalism and I don't know if I can ever call myself a minimalist (I'll explain in other videos throughout the series) but I am going to try my hardest to become more minimalistic. Throughout this series we are going to talk about all things decluttering and organizing as well as a bunch of other topics and all of the new things I am learning when it comes to minimalism. So we are starting in the kitchen first, next I will go through the bedrooms, really focusing on the laundry, that will be fun LOL. I really hope you enjoy the series and I hope you join me through this new journey. Thank you so much for being here!

As a minimalist for 6 years I have to say you're one of the youtubers that I really see a change in the mentality, a lot of youtubers put minimalism in the title because it's trend but I feel like you really want to change. Some advices: 1 you'll want to get rid of everything at first but then you're find your balance. 2. Minimalism it's different for everyone, just do what feels confortable for you and your family. Don't feel intimidated by the minimalist community, unfortunately just like in the Sahm there's a lot of fakeness and people trying to sell an lifestyle. 3. More than decluttering, it's important to rethink our buying, buy less, and use the money for things that really matter. 4. I can guarantee you gonna miss some stuff but we figure out a way of doing things without. 5. You don't have to get rid of all sentimental or important things. Good luck on your journey👍 Sorry about the mistakes, english it's not my first language.

One of the things I was going to discuss in future videos is the difficulty I will have with shopping, with bringing things into the home. Because you are right re thinking the way I shop and buy things, being selective on what I bring into the home is going to be very key! These tips were incredibly helpful and I greatly appreciate it! My husband is completely on board with this change which is really awesome! That helps! And I really appreciate you saying you see a real change! Thats really awesome! Thank you so much for watching and being here!

Oh yes! I often see these decluttering and goung minimalistic videos, but then the next video on the channel is a huge (useless) junk haul 🤦‍♀️ I've decluttered years ago and since then shop much less, never accept useless gifts, freebies etc. Life is sooo much better. Also I have never regretted or missed anything I have gotten rid of :)

Everything you said is sooo true! I agree that it is not really practical to convert from a pack rat to a minimalist in one single go. It’s okay to question a few things. You can keep those items for now, make a list of them, and then revisit these items in 6mo or 1year to see if they’ve just been collecting dust. I would suggest to give yourself some time to go through the process, it takes time and everyone, and the things that they value, are different! Someone who loves to bake may keep several muffin tins, I myself purged mine long ago because they came in a bakeware set and I never used them! Good luck on your journey, I will enjoy watching you progress through it ! 😌

I wish I would have done this at a younger age like you. I am now 60 and today I am starting to go thru my stuff. When I think back of all the things I bought because they were cheap, I liked the color, it was a good deal! Less is better. If you really need something at a later date and don’t have, it, you can go to Goodwill and buy it for that occasion and then donate when the occasion is over.

100% I did the exact same thing I would buy things for the same reasons and sometimes I just shopped to shop (Im going to talk a lot more about that in future videos in the series, why I shop, why Im bringing so much into the home) I have to completley re think the way I shop! I have found some of my favorite items from thrift stores! And so true, if I need it, I can get it at a later date and always donate it afterwards. Less is better and it feels so good to have gotten rid of all of that stuff! Thank you so much for watching, commenting and being here!

I was in the hospital 6 days with c19. When I got home I laid in the guest room sick staring at stuff and day after day mentally deciding to let go of stuff...lots of stuff...and the minute I could STAND I started getting it together to go. I kept at it for the past year. This week I found 7 things to go. On the 1st I decluttered 36 items. I've run out of things..even wall art is too much visual clutter for me. The moral of my story is simple, only YOU can define what minimal means to YOU. KEEP AT IT, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!.

Thats exactly why the Konmari method isnt for everyone. The Konmari method actually promotes being overwhelmed it makes u see how much u have and is supposed to make u want to get rid of it. some people with bad anxiety like myself.. just cant do that... doing it in small sections at a time really is a great alternative for those who cant deal with the anxiety. Great job!

I toted around a mini muffin pan for over a decade because of a baking show I saw once on Food Network. I never EVER made the flower shaped lemon cream cup recipe, but yet felt like I had to hold on to that reminder and pressure that I needed to fullfill a self-imposed expectation. FOR OVER 10 YEARS. And then I realized I actually hate making muffons/cupckars because of needing to wash that cumbersome pan. So I finally let that go and give myself a break. I prefer to bake cookies or things in a loaf/sheet pan. The end

I want to remind everyone of one key rule. Minimalism is not about HOW MUCH YOU OWN and HOW LITTLE you can keep. It is about truly looking at the stuff and keep stuff that work FOR YOU. If you need 40 stuff in your closet but you know you use them daily and enjoy them all then that’s for you! If you only have 5 pieces of clothing and it works FOR YOU then it’s for you. Minimalism is almost a process of having what you need and put into use, truly knowing what you have and not the amount of stuff you keep.

I do not entertain like I used to, so why was I holding on to serving trays, platters, tablecloths, and ice buckets? Tons of containers, many with no lids. I purged and donated and it felt great! I can do just fine with what I kept! Probably could have let go of more. But I plan to revisit my things once a year and see if there are things I still haven’t used, and out they’ll go. I am not familiar with the layout of the rest of your home, but is it too far to go to gather those cleaning items from your mud room or your laundry room when needed? That way you could still keep the sink cupboard for your recycle bins. Or just keep one spray cleaner, or any other item you use daily for your counters, etc in the kitchen w a roll of paper toweling for everyday use. Good job! I have that many spatulas (and possibly more) and I use each one for a different purpose, so when I try to get rid of any of them, I panic a bit. Of course I am 71 yrs old, so old dog, new tricks......... :-)

Eg Sheets 3 sets per person Towels 3 per person Clothing limited on each child in the days same with shoes and other items etc . It also taught me to appreciate what I had and not to rush out and buy things all the time and I only went and purchased item if I really needed to etc . You did a fantastic job. I am so proud of you. It is so nice to see when a person decides she is going to do something and then does it. You also did it for the world to see. Thank you so much for sharing your questions on what you should keep and what you should let go of. It is a wonderful idea to put the boxes full of donations immediately into your car. I just recently did some more decluttering. The two men who came to get the donated items that I had in my garage and out by my shed were so nice and it is nice to have let go of these items. Since I am a hoarder who no longer hoards things I struggled after these things were gone. I felt that part of me had gone away and I felt lost. I have decided that I am never going to do what I did which was to hoard things. I still have to work through the mental part of hoarding. What I mean is that I will work with my therapist on how to no longer be a hoarder mentally. When I was a hoarder I acquired things and some of those things were plain garbage. The hoarding started because of two traumas: (1) being abused as a child & (2) the death of my only child. I put my identity into the things that I had acquired. I have a friend who is a hoarder but does not realize it. She had many traumas and chooses not to deal with them. She says she is a strong person & she would never be where I am at. She chooses to not understand my mental illness & I am somewhat okay with it. I have major depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia. My heart goes out to her. I pray for her to get help with her hoarding and to declutter her patio and master bedroom. I do know that I cannot fix her and she is not open to my bringing up the subject that she is a hoarder. Unfortunately, she is in denial. Her husband is planning to help her clean off their patio. I have been praying about this. I pray for peace during that time. He has told her what they are going to do, but I don't believe that she understands how much stuff that he wants to let go of. A few things were his father's and the rest except for the barbecue is hers. Please pray for her. Thank you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you! I think that you are an incredibly brave and strong woman to have gone through what you've gone through and to have struggled with hoarding, but are working through it! You should be so proud of yourself! What a huge accomplishment to have had all of those things and to have let them go. I cant imagine that was easy, not at all! To have let go of all those things and felt a part of you had gone with it, that can't be easy. You are such a great friend, it is so hard to watch someone you care about struggle and hurt, especially when you know what that feels like. Its hard to talk to someone who is in denial, I pray for her, I pray that she comes around and seeks help. Thank you so much for your kind words, thank you for this comment and sharing this with us. I think you are so strong & brave! Thank you for being here with me! Sending thoughts and prayers to you and your friend!

I’m 41 and started decluttering my home about 5 years ago when my daughter was 2 and was stressed by my stuff affecting the way I felt and felt maintaining it all was keeping me from spending more time with her. I think when we are younger and set up our homes we get more than we need because we think at the time that we will use it all. I’ve been a homemaker now for 7 years and I know what I gravitate to and what I don’t so I find the process of decluttering easy now. I enjoyed your video. First time to your channel.

I have spent a year at work, I work hotel, & w a promotion, I was able to stay in a room when my lease ended last July. I did not want all my stuff all the time, so I put it in a 10x10 storage. For a year. Never late on payments, but I wish I had got rid of it months ago! I am now relocating out of state to be w my partner, who has been w me the whole time, about a year. And we are ready. But this is a lifestyle I want to incorporate into my everyday. It is so refreshing to see clear counter tops, clear space, uncluttered. I found my mood directly correlates w my living space. Soooo, I am here to say keep going! It is soooo rewarding. Just do the follow through, sort, and donate including the actual drop off lol. I had to do mine entirely myself. But I learned. Haha, I wrote a book. It's ok, someone needs to read the success stories! ,

I got sick of my dishes too! I literally got rid of all my plates, bowls, and coffee cups. I switched to white Corelle, and never looked back. I did not buy the boxed set, because the cups and bowls were too small and I needed more than 4 each. I splurged maybe $20 more dollars doing it this way. Giant bowls! And Rae Dunn coffee mugs. The dishes themselves are so light- I can grab ALL of them out of the dishwasher and put them away at once. They stack very, very well. I used a wire shelf-thing to separate large from small in my cupboard. And if one dish breaks, I can replace it a la carte from Walmart.

Hey, I wanted to chat about how you're situating items and which ones are getting prime real estate. The cleaning gear is getting one of the most accessable food cupboards and that corner food pantry is so deep, it's going to be really hard to keep organised. I'd like to suggest simplifying your cleaners - one spray, one creme cleaner and dish soap. Make it simple, for the whole house. And keep it under the sink, or up high on one shelf, if you have toddlers. The corner cabinets are great for 2-3 electrical items, 2 stacks of plates, or rarely used items.

  • @annw1395

    @annw1395

I agree. Move the food to where your cleaning supplies currently are. I have a corner cabinet like yours, and it's best for large items -- small things get lost in the corners snd back. Use pull-out bins (on shelves) for your smaller items (cans, spices), and they work like drawers.

Under the sink is where I used to have my cleaners. I do agree the long cabinet would be better for pantry items. I think I am going to have to do some thinking when it comes to the cleaners, pantry items and garbage/recycling bins. I could place the garabge/recycling bins in the mudroom? and then move the cleaners back under the sink, and then place the pantry items in the long cabinet? I dont know if that would be practicle for the trash/recycling? Ugh I might have to just have the garbage/recycling back out again LOL. Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it!

Maybe just keep minimum cleaners in the kitchen, and put the ones used elsewhere in the house in the laundry room or mudroom. Keep the garbage and recycling in the kitchen bc those get used constantly. If you don't want them under the sink, buy a nice stainless steel, double trash can perhaps.

Why don't you put your pyrex bowls with the blue lids (and whatever else is in that cabinet) either in the drawer below the foil, or on the shelf over your spices. Then use that cabinet for cleansers used in the kitchen. Relocate the rest elsewhere.

They work great, I try to only use paper towels for gross stuff, like the toilet LOL thank you so much for watching, commenting and being here!

Hello from Malaysia 🇲🇾 . Usually I don’t leave any comment and just watching “declutter video” but I wanna drop by and say tq for this video. I feel exactly like what u said in the video. The overwhelming thing, the hesitate feeling to let go ur things ..haha. Like when I’m watching, I see myself in u. i’ve started decluttering step by step since last year towards minimalist lifestyle. Pray for me!

No! I love talk through videos most because I can get up and clean with you instead of just watching people clean out!!! The best tip I ever learned from Kathy Robert’s on here was to have a box marked “for other rooms” and to stay in one room while goin thru stuff instead of walking back and forth wasting time takin one thing to another room❤️

I’d rather purge food than my cooking/ baking supplies. I love to cook and bake, slice and dice, and serve. Plates, cups and glasses are a must to keep. I have one set of the white trimmed in black Corelle that you showed, so that is simple. I can get rid of mismatched cups , saving my favorites. Plastic containers I have sent home with food in with request that I never see them again. Glass containers all the way now. I admire your determination. I grew up in an era where we had very little, so giving away something I may need to repurchase is very hard for me. In fact, impossible.

You want glass cooking pots made of borosilicate glass or pure surgical steel. The coated pans are super toxic as well as reg stainless. Keep going. You are adorable.Minimalism is a lifestyle that is expansive in that it involves not only STUFF, but your practice in all aspects of living. Snacks should be plant based and organic grains. No Chips , cookies, candy, high fat carbs, etc. Cause problems.Residing in N W Fla, on gulf of Mexico , we know in a sec we can lose all in a flash. You know that feeling when you are touring an empty home during real estate hunt? It is the space and light that we truly love. I love empty rooms....space to move and live. Great vid! Yes, you are very sweet and no need to explain. Love, k from the sea

Minimizing (I prefer to say, simplifying) is an addiction! 😆 I started my journey almost 5 years ago now, and after decluttering literally 50% of what I owned in one go, I still find more stuff to donate or recycle. I got rid of all my colorful clothes so it's easier to dress myself since I only own neutral, I also got rid of all the extra utensils who only had one purpose. I can cut garlic with a knife or scoop ice cream with a spoon... no need for gadgets. I'm at a point in my life where I'm even minimizing my food, for example I don't see the need of having 7 types of pasta and 5 of rice anymore. Long pasta, short pasta, white rice, brown rice, enough! (of course I don't have a husband and kids, so it's easy to go wild!)

LOL... I tuned into this channel precisely because of the kitchen!! However, I am the exact opposite from you! Having worked in the restaurant industry for more than 20 years, I truly appreciate the utility of every gadget I possess! And the multitude of options we have, especially spices. Your examples, rice and pasta... LOL ... for me variety is the spice of life! But of course ... you do you!!

Oh my gosh I couldnt agree more! After completing the kitchen I want and feel so motivated to just go through the house and get rid of as much stuff as I can. I cant remember the last time I felt that good standing in my kitchen. I know its a process and I have A LOT to learn, but I am very excited to continue with the whole house! I really love the idea of owning only neutral clothing, I will be simplifying my clothes by A LOT! Love this comment, thank you so much for watching and being here with me!

Honestly the chatty videos are my fav to watch/listen to when I'm cleaning and organizing, the videos with just music it's more like "well I may as well just play MY music" vs listening to someone chat while they work, so your chatty vid was perfect!!

❤ your personality & your chatty videos. I've been warching your videos from the most cuurent to the oldest. You've come along way where now you're now helping your mom declutter. Decluttering is a struggle & time consuming for sure. Setting boundaries & being very realistic with what you're truly usIng are key. I've been decluttering in layers. I always get hungup on the "just in case" items but have found that on a second, third or fifth pass 😊 I've been able to let it go. It's truly a process.

For the glass plates and bowls you can always use them around the house as key bowls, fruit bowls, decoration bowls, and rotate them out every now and again so you get your satisfaction of use and then you can send them off. As someone who loves ornamental and decorative things I totally see your dilemma with the “what if I have a party…” ! Love this video
