Training as a Philippine scout ranger is nightmare fuel. One of their trainings involve recruits staying chest deep in freezing jungle waters and when they thought it's finally over, their commanding officers will jump into the water and try to drown them, like being attacked by a crocodile. And also the "Act of Friendship" shooting exercise, where 2 buddies will participate into to practice their sniping skill. It is turn based and basically consists of one shooter and one target holder, yes. You hold a long pole with 2 plastic bags filled with red dyed water tied at the 2 ends of the pole. These targets are positioned dangerously close to the holder's hips and thighs area so trust to your buddy's ability to snipe is a must.

Yes. Fort Jackson is exactly as described. I still remember the gas chamber. They tell you don't hold your breath when the gas is released. There's always those few who think they can hold their breath long enough to make out of the chamber. When they can't hold out any longer and take that deep breath, it's definitely a sight. Rolling on the floor, coughing, screaming, and crying. Once you're released from the chamber, it takes a few seconds before the remaining gas dissipates. The drill sergeant tells you to breathe normally while only taking short breaths. I'm not going to lie. I was scared for the first week. After that, it was like a fitness vacation.

When I served in Afghanistan we were stationed with a Canadian Army too. Their QRF was so fast to get ready and out the gate I think they took like 5 mins and they were gone! I was like wow they are fast. They were the first QRF I had been around so I didn't realize how quick they really are until then.

As an American I have to say America has the best and toughest army divisions in the world. Between the SEALs, Airborne troopers, and the Marines we are a damn near unstoppable force to be reckoned with! British SAS comes in second, followed by the Phillipino special forces.

If rumors and the "truthful" media is to be taken seriously, the Navy Seals training was softened extremely for more women to pass.

But to be honest those soldiers come in very dangerous situation that you never even dare to dream off, they just show you at the start that it isnt a picnick and in act of the most dangerous situations you hope you and your comerade have the discipline to survive.
