Personally I loved eternal sunshine and it’s kind of become my favorite album Ari has ever done but I can see why other people wouldn’t be into it. There’s not as many soaring anthems, nor the quirky production from albums like Sweetener and TUN. I think it makes up for the lack of those things in the improved writing from Ari (sans the one line on Yes And?) and how personal and intimate it feels.

@24kgoldplatedvermeilthis is an interesting take I haven’t seen anyone make, but tbh I don’t totally see it with eternal sunshine? I mean, the writing definitely takes a stronger presence this time around but lyrically I don’t think Ari is stepping anywhere near singer-songwriter territory like Taylor, she pretty much sounds like herself to me. And as far as the sound goes, I feel like ES puts a good amount of emphasis on the production and the sound, just as much if not more than her previous records.

I can understand why a lot of people don’t really vibe with the production on this record as much, it’s not as bold and distinct as it was on sweetener or TUN (even positions honestly), but it’s very slick and well crafted. I mean when you have a guy like Max Martin at the helm it’s hard to expecting something that sounds awful. I do hope that in the future she links up with more bold producers again like Pharrell

And yeah that’s fair, though me personally TUN has grown off me over the years and I’ve really gravitated more toward sweetener and positions the most.

Was honestly expecting the Tortured Poets Department to be on this list. Taylor has proven capable of making worthwhile records with either fun tunes or thoughtful lyrics in them but TPD is so bland and devoid of personality.

I thought Radical Optimism was pretty solid. Some of the songs fall a little flat or feel lacking, but I liked the lyrics, and there wasn't much I didn't enjoy listening to.

Kasey Musgraves album is, in my opinion, fantastic. She gives us an album that just puts us in a better place mentally and transports us back to an easy breezy 60’s/70’s vibe. Our world right now is crazy. Anxiety is at an all time high, and this album is a welcome escape that is still relevant.

Ariana's album is great, and from far the best one on her career. Lyrics, instrumental, history telling and especially harmonies/vocals are on point. Pop perfection!

vultures being bad is an insane take, it had "do it" and "burn" on it which are genuinely good tracks and it literally had a #1 track being "carnival". Fantano just got blinded by his hatred towards Ye

Now that I'm out of my recency biased phase. I have realized vultures 1 isn't as good as I thought on release but it's still good. A solid 6 to 7 for me. Idk how you're so confident in your blind hate for kanye that you rate it "unreviawable". There's just no world where you can rate it anything less than a 4 and not be super biased

I'm a ye fan and this is definitely his worst project, the songs are mostly about women being violated, and admitting to anti semitism is just the icing on top (But I can at least separate the art from the artist), the songs we're not as great or innovative compared to past projects, though carnival using chants was somewhat different but even then we've seen that shit before too, burn is the only "great" song there imo and that was with a low expectation considering how far the song was in the album

Not sure a lot of these count as disappointments given you had little reason to expect anything of them Surely the Bring Me the Horizon record counts? Kirin J Callinan? Bleachers? We Still Don’t Trust You? Dua Lipa? Taylor? J Cole? All albums we had much more reason to expect something better from than anything here (also the Ariana Grande album was good).

And it had some amazing lyrics like "Our shadows dance in a parallel plane". Also he gave it a 6 and it is here as if he gave Positions much higher, when he did not even give it a higher rating, but lower. And TTPD which he gave a 3 is not here. I mean, for me it is faaar from a 3 i loved the album, but i'm just saying.

I thought he'd put the new BMTH there but glad he didn't.

I would’ve put The Tortured Poets Department on here, compared to her other albums, this album fell flat: lyrically and production wise. I’ve been seeing a lot of hate for Jack Antonoff lately and I kinda get it, at first he helped and made Taylor feel fresh but now every song feels too similar and the album almost never actually hits the mark, it can sometimes just feel like a chore to listen to.

The latest Justin Timberlake album had some highlights on it, as opposed to his early 2000s albums which had a lot of highlights and frosted tips.

I'd say the new twenty one pilots album as well. It's not bad, but as a follow-up to Trench it's definitely lackluster

I wouldn't call The Secret Of Us bad. It has some great songs (eg Close To You, Us and Blowing Smoke) but it also has some flops (Good Luck Charlie and Normal Thing). I hope the deluxe improves the album.

Vultures once again, wasn’t bad. Not great by any means but it’s objectively a well made album which is a lot less boring than a lot of the stuff coming out at the moment. By no means is it great but pretending it’s garbage because you don’t like the artist is disingenuous.
