@@thelittleowl1 Agree, most of the time the player genuinely is going for the ball - but that shouldn't protect them from getting sent off if they misjudge/mistime it badly enough to endanger an opponent. I agree that "deliberate" shouldn't be the main consideration, a) because it's pretty hard to judge, and b) because a broken leg is a broken leg, regardless of whether the foul was intentional or not, but I think clear malicious intent should be taken into account by a referee (or disciplinary panel after the game).

One was a dominant tackle ie the tackler initiating contact and one was a passive tackle where the ball carrier makes contact, the force applied to the head is much greater, it’s like the difference between a head on collision with 2 cars and both are moving at 30mph/50kph and a head on collision between a stationary car and 1 moving at 30mph/50kph, you’ve got a combined collision speed of 30mph/50kph in on collision and a combined collision speed of 60mph/100kph, I’m not a physics genius but you don’t have to be to work which ones more dangerous and more likely to cause serious injury, apply the same logic to the 2 separate rugby collisions and you’ll understand why 1 was red and 1 was yellow.

No it’s not but it is illegal to lead with the elbow/forearm. Palm of hand and an extended arm is how it should be done legally. An elbow is not legal in mens or womens rugby, be it league or union

You can disagree, but you'd be wrong. Irrespective if Hill targeted him (which we know he did to wind him up) it's still a send off offence. Hill could have even punched him in the face and if Swain had head-butted him back he would have still been given a red card for retaliation. So yep, you're definitely wrong.
