"E’en this rock of the land of Serbia That, defying the Sun, tears thro’ a cloud, By the grim lines of its gloomy brow Evokes its long, tumultuous past, Showing, reticent, with silent mime The deep furrows of its cheeks. Of dark centuries these are the traces - The obscure wrinkles, murky caverns; And this rock rising like a pyramid From the dust towards the sky - ‘Tis a pile of decaying bones that In combat against their bitter foe Your forefathers willfully heaped, Bonding with the blood of own hearts Of their arms the broken bones - To form an ambush whence, scornful Of the foe, their grandsons would Boldly waylay its rampaging hordes. But, only up to that place, that rock, That rampart, - Haply shall your hostile feet tread. If you venture further, you shall hark The mighty roar of thunder rip thro’ The silence of the free land; Your fearful heart will comprehend What its audacious voice’s telling you, Then, gripped by horrendous fear, You shall be banging your bare head Against this rock all solid and hard… Yet, mid the horrific clamour of combat, One phrase, one thought you shall hear: “’Tis the fatherland of the Serbs!…”

One thing I never liked about my country is that gluing of dead people all around the place ... In Serbia there are those world known places like Uvac and Djerdap that are beautiful but you also have places not even Serbians know about that are just as amazing, for example in south of Serbia near the city of Leskovac there is a small village/town Vučje, it has the most beautiful canyon and waterfall lagune thingy, and it also has the remains of castle of a lord from middle ages called Nikola Skobaljic who defeated Turks in several battles but was then killed by Turkish sultan in 1454. @NostaIgia Actually Europe is until Ural mountain, river Ural, Caspian Sea, Black Sea, Bosphorus, Sea of Marmara and Dardanelles geographically but Russian culture is definitely considered European (from literature, language to historical significance and every other). Europe is not European Union. No, we would not be glad to be called European, we know what we are. Serbians have strong culture and don't suffer to belong somewhere like Ukrainians for example or how desperate Czechs were to belong to European Union. It has something to do with micro-climate as it is a valley with a lot of brooks and little rivers surrounded by hills and mountains. There is even a saying I heard from my elders (who are from that neck of the woods) about the genesis of the name "Požega" - Pre podne magla - *PO* podne *ŽEGA* Which roughly translates as: "In the AM's there's fog, in the PM's is hot." :D:D:D

Actually, it's not "c" as in "center", cause in English they pronounce it differently. It's more like "cz" like in the word "czar" or like "tz" in "tzar". So Uvac would be pronounced correctly as "Uvacz". 😊 Great video, btw. Keep up the good work! 👍

That river is in Sanxhak one of the parts of the ancient Dardania (Albanian land) that serbia has stolen, that' why there are so many bosniaks there with slavinised albanian surnames, they've been assimilated into a made up ethnicity by serbia which is being bosniak, there is no such thing, their history is albanian, but forced by violence to declare themselves as bosniaks throughout history, which is very sad

What a lie. And it was AUSTRIA which actually brought up Muslims - including Albanians - to separate Serbia from Montengro. Furthermore, the TURKS were known to remove troublesome Albanian tribes in Albania up to that area. Albanians/Shqiptars (their own name for themselves) are NOT native. Shqiptars were brought to the Balkans as MERCENARIES by the Byzantines.

@@gstar12334 Because Albanians were brought there by the AUSTRIANS. Austrians were settling Muslims there to create a division between Serbia and Montenegro. The Muslims there are NOT NATIVE but were COLONIZED there by the Austrians.
