I always assumed it was based on Indian IT support, since that is so common when ringing from the UK and it can be so difficult to understand them, but that Graham thought it would be considered racist if he made the guy Indian.

He does sound a bit French, I always thought the joke was not the accent, but the unintelligible speech pattern and a randomly shifting accent!

This was an ultra mega win for Jen. Roy didn't just say the dreaded phrase, he shouted it very loudly to a street full of people and work colleagues - there should have been a bonus clause attached to that bet..

I remember watching this and the Bomb Tech saying it was Vista, Moss saying "we're going to die", never a truer on point timed joke for the nerd community

How did they have no reaction to that Vista joke? It's one of the best jokes of the whole show

Vista was 15 - 17 years ago. Spencer and Daniel are probably too young for this joke. Much of the computer jokes are lampooning computerisms of the time.

I've worked in IT for decades: yes, it's true. technically people just don't know the word "browser". They know chrome, IE or firefox, but not the word "browser".

In the UK, Hookah is called Shisha!!

I always feel this episode is much earlier in the series when I remember it. Like season three, but it's one of my favourites. 😂 (I say that about all of them)

When I was 8, I witnessed a child get his toes caught in escalator teeth...it was HORRIBLE!😵😵

Fear of balloons is called globophobia. No idea what fear of globes is called.

Running up a down escalator is tiring. Then there's the lost distance caused by people using the escalator properly who should always be treated with respect. It is fun if you are fit enough, or drunk enough.

Linehan is pronounced= Lin-eh-han, not 'Lynam'!

I'm surprised you didn't seem very amused by 'bad boy" Moss at the beginning though it's hard to tell on a small phone screen. I've noticed before that sometimes you don't seem to realise there's a joke in a comedy. Not that you just don't think it's funny but don't realise at all. I suppose different cultural references can go over ones head and it might be the same for me if I reacted to American comedy.
