I love "Follow Him." Usually, I am on my treadmill, but today, my husband and I are on a train going from Switzerland to Rome. We have been celebrating our 50th with this special adventure and are ending it with a visit to the Rome Temple. Just thought you might enjoy knowing you joined us. 😊

13:34 I was listening to the quote shared by President Kimball and I thought to myself, "I don't really see anyone outside my family that cares about me or is concerned with me. I haven't heard from my ministering sisters in years and nobody really cares." Less than 20 minutes later a woman in my ward, whom I'm not even close with, called me and said "I baked a cake for your family. Can my husband come drop it off?" Wow! Talk about a speedy reminder that I'm not forgotten! ❤️

Following along with the idea that prophets use stories to help personalize gospel truths, that is also most of the reason behind starting a talk with a story - preferably a personal one. Not only does it help create interest, but it also assists the listener to sympathize, empathize, and understand the principle that is being shared on a deeper level. I have a hard time sharing personal stories, but I do recognize the need to do so.

I am experiencing holy envy that you all know each other! Dr. Target ran into Jared Halverson ( who I have listened to for 4 years) in the hall, he does a podcast with David Butler( one of my tour guides in Israel) and John was such an important part of me teaching /entertaining my kids while they were growing up… so using the degree of separation thing , you’re all my close friends 😉 thanks for being there!

Dr. Tangerine has a most wonderful view of trip into the wilderness and discovery of Limhi and his people is one of the most humble description of the “lost” peoples. Thanks for having such a guest. The remarkable East wind that is spoken of in the scriptures is named in Acts 27:14, the wind from the east, Euroclydon, that which drove Paul and his ship, Castor and Pollux.

I love listening to Dr. Taeger on RVVL (I have to say, I started watching RVVL because I am an Inklings woman, and turns out I loved it) so when I saw he was with y'all today, I knew it would be good. I just stopped at minute 3:06 to go order Dr. Taegar's book and had to give a listen to Howard W. Hunter's remarkable lesson "A Teacher"! Now, I can get back to today's lesson!!

MIA = Mutual Improvement Association, today it is called Young Men and Young Women. The Assembly Hall is the beautiful, old fashioned Chapel looking building on Temple Square. What you are referring to in the pioneer era temples are the Assembly Rooms. There may be a Holy of Holies in every temple, I don't know. But, if there is a door without a know in a sealing room, safe bet its the HofH. My son is the lead night shift Custodian of the new Layton Temple. The Temple President has a key and he does the cleaning.

East Wind observations: A number of OT references cite the east wind. The first are 3 times in Pharoah's dream and Joseph's interpretation. The "seven thin ears of corn" are "blasted by the east wind". Joseph interprets this as famine. Jeremiah 18:17 refers to Israel being scattered "as with an east wind before the enemy." Scattering from military defeat. Jonah 4:8 has a "vehement east wind" drying the gourd and causing Jonah to faint. Though they wouldn't have had Ezekiel, at least 3 references there mention a dry east wind. One forbodes an economic destruction, and one of the others a political destruction and deportation of Israel by Babylon. When this information is combined it paints the same picture that Limhi gave in Mosiah 7:31 "...they shall reap the east wind, which bringeth immediate destruction.

Not Stephan using the word “meta” and then my husband and I spending the next 5 minutes to try to figure out what it means. My teenager uses that term all the time but I don’t think it’s the same meaning.

Why is the story of Moses continually referenced in the book of Mormon? I want to put forth a supposition. We just celebrated Passover not long ago. And in that Passover dinner, we specifically talked about Moses being led out of Egypt and the people being freed from bondage. That is a story that they were commanded to tell their posterity every year at Passover. I think that the reason they reference that story so often is because they were still observing the Passover dinner. That story continues to be passed down someone generation to the next! As we read the Book of Mormon, we can also pass that story onto our children as well. It’s the story of being in bondage and being set free: Spiritually, physically, intellectually, mentally, socially. It is the story of a god who saves his people.

I may be misunderstanding your point but I feel I should clarify something. If I read what you said completely wrong I apologize in advance for correcting you. It looks like you are saying that we shouldn’t depend on the prophets. Perhaps even to not following them? That we should rely on ourselves over them. I believe that we are asked to hear the voice of our Savior through personal revelation AND through the prophets. We should ALWAYS test what we feel is revealed to us, personally, against already revealed truths. If the direction we feel we are heading is CLOSER to Heavenly Father and His church on earth then we should absolutely follow that instruction. If we are heading away from Him, then we are on shaky ground. I also believe that we should ask for and gain a testimony of what our leaders are saying as well. Let’s be smart sheep and follow the Shepherd. But, please, use our resources of prayer, scripture and personal revelation in walking the path. I hope I haven’t offended you or anyone else by my comment. I just want to keep everyone safe in the arms of the Savior. Following His chosen leaders-especially those ordained to be prophets, seers and revelators for the church- is essential for our happiness.
