I am lucky as well as my broke district has the best music dept. In the western half of my state. Just our marching band alone has over 385 first place trophies in only 33.5 years

I played this 8th grade year. They didn’t have enough percussionist so they pulled me out of the trombone section and made me bass drum where I got to do cannon shot

When I did the canon shot back in Middle School all-district band, the director literally told us to hit as hard as we could without breaking the drum! 😂 This was such a fun piece to play.

Was supposed to play this my senior year of high school but that was right when the pandemic started. I will never forget the moments I had practicing this piece. Still know how to play it. And it was such a fun tenor sax part.

Bro… I am an honored Timpani player 😭 I absolutely loved playing this song last year bro it made me feel like, idk as if I was in a movie tbh.

I played bells and chimes in this song at an event in 2019 where band students from all over the county would come to the high school right next to where I had middle school at the time. Playing such awesome music in a room with ~150 other amazing students was one of the most fun things I’ve done in my life. I have so many emotions attached to this piece and I was beyond devastated when the event was cancelled for 2020 and 2021. I genuinely cry every time I listen to this

Playing clarinet 1 for this music sheet for tomorrow's concert

I'm a clarinet player and we have been reading the music for a week. I really love the beginning.

I was a French Horn player in middle school when I played this. Every time we performed this song a literal movie played in my head, and to this day I see the same thing every time I listen to it. Truly an amazing piece this song is.

We were going to play this song in 8th grade but COVID hit 😔

But it’s a shame you guys didn’t get to play it. I’m here because I’m going to play this wonderful piece in March and I’m listening to it and comparing it to our band.

I’m surprised to not see any comments about the song this is based on! It’s a Soviet song called “oh fields, my fields” and it’s absolutely beautiful! Wish my band would have played it when I was in school!

Played This As A 2nd Trumpet For UIL About A Month Ago And This Is One Of My Favorite Music Pieces Ever

I am in 7th grade band and we are playing this piece for a UIL competition and I absolutely am in love with piece!! And i am first clarinet so i am also freaking out!!

Love this music and when I played it, it sounded amazing also proud to be the pianist for this piece

We were supposed to be playing this music with my orchestra, but the director cancelled it because of the Ukraine/Russia conflict I am so sad, I wanted to play this piece so bad, as a first clarinetist, I play it all the time at home

we played this for my high school band concert in march and it was so good, I'm going to see if my teacher will let us play kyiv 2022 next year for our concert

Me and a good friend of mine had to double up on the trombone parts because it ended up being only the two of us...I felt such pride being able to play a part in such a magnificent piece.

Favorite piece by far. Followed by Black Forest Overture and Gently Touch the sky, this song is just the greatest. It has a audible plot. Lovely harmony. I just love it.

Same here. The song has a plot that you can hear and imagine. Based off the title and the dynamic changes you can hear as it happens. In fact after hearing this song I searched it up and studied the battle of Moscow and it was really something. The song covers what happened. The Beginning is the Germans and the Russians preparing for the fight and it shows the foreshadow of the hell approaching after. Then the moment of waiting, waiting for the attack. The knowing off the loss to come. And the fear of losing but knowing. Then the start. The fight begins and it starts to rage. As the dynamic increases so does the fighting. And then the next part the fighting continues. And then it gets worst. The loss is known and the fighting gets Harder for both sides. Then the loss gets greater. Then the panic. The Germans are pushing harder and harder and it seems that it's going to be a loss. And the panic and fear gains control. And the Germans start winning. The Russians losing. But then the turning. The Russians push back. They push and push and get them out.

I just played this in Illinois Honor band fest. It was an amazing piece. I played Euphonium.

By far my most favorite song that I played in high-school. It remains to be one of the few songs that transports me to that time and place no matter how many times I hear it. It never fails to give me chills in the later third as the "bombs" are falling.

Loved this song to death, beautiful piece, my ensemble was gonna play this for my last spring concert as a senior in 2022 but because of the war with Russia and Ukraine we couldn’t cause of high tensions 😢

i remember going to my old high school, LHS, and playing this song. this was one of the most beautiful pieces ive ever played in my entire band experience. also, listen to kyiv 2022! even better than the original.

This is an old piece that the high schoolers played a few years ago and I’m in 8th grade now. We were supposed to play it for our end of the year concert but aren’t. Sad but playing some other greats!

Currently playing this for my middle school concert, the first and second flute parts clash. It’s… Breathtaking..!!

I love how everyone loved playing this song. I played the clarinet part and it was reallllly fun. Moscow 1941 is still such an infamous song to my middle school band class years later, and I don’t think I’ll ever forget it

Is not 'Meadowlands' lads. It's Lev Knipper's 4th Symphony. Don't hesitate and give it a listen, it's absolutely epic.

Played the 1st Clarinet part my Jr. year of high school many years ago. Such a wonderful song, and if you're also a history teacher like I am, this piece works well when teaching about the Battle of Stalingrad/Moscow.

Not gonna lie, we did this one and as a trombone I was really happy with fun part we got to play! 10/10 would definitely recommend.

Played bass drum my eighth grade year. Me being the shy, awkward being that I was, I didn't play the cannon shots right at first. Long story short, when I did play it right, the people in front of me would always jump at the sound. It's quite the fun piece.

Played this in 8th grade then again senior year. The recording sound very different.
