I'll probably never get out to New Jersey, but I'll tell you, that is some kind of a floor. What an interesting community project, and great use of these poor trees that were killed by the storm!

What exactly is the product that is used to adhere the wood to the floor and the filler in between the pieces? Beautiful work!!!

Since it looks like no one replied to your question, I'll provide my input. I have laid pallet wood flooring before, so I would say a flooring adhesive will work. However keep in mind that some adhesive expand a bit when dried. As seen in the video they sanded the floor to make it flush. But definitely a flooring adhesive will work great. To fill the gaps n the wood any flooring grout will work. Keep in mind I would treat the wood so the grout can be wiped off clean from the wood. Maybe some coats of polyurethane will help. Again you can always use a floor sander after adding the grout. Now for the finishing the floor you can use a polyurethane or epoxy on the floor. Keep in mind the epoxy will take longer to dry and more is involve with mixing it etc. Also make sure the the polyurethane or epoxy used is suited for high traffic areas to lessen the chance of cracks or other damages from furniture.

I want to design my small kitchen floor using little wooden chopping boards and I want to know what was the black substance you used to fill the space in between those pieces. Hope you can share it with me. Thanks.

Looks like either PL or liquid nails construction adhesive. She was squirting it on a piece of wood from a caulking gun and applying it to the individual pieces.

I would think epoxy was used. Seemed by the time they used it the wood acclimated and shrunk enough to eliminate most of its moisture content. It also looked like they added a little color to it to identify low spots during sanding. Beautiful floor

Same epoxy (tinted) poured into the cracks and voids. Many brands, some can be poured thicker than others. Careful of heat build up.
