@@gc8972b MK2 was a high watermark for the franchise, but the gameplay definitely evolved for the better. try playing Mk2 now and it moves so slow that being said, there was something really dark and sinister about MK2 compared to the games afterward. that uniqueness still lasts 30 years later

Deadly Alliance was always the most unsettling Fatality music for me

Mk2 still stands out.The sound is incredible

The announcer’s voice on MK9 is sooo satisfying . so much more menacing than the others

Announcer from 2-3-Trilogy is the best ever. His voice is super sinister and the others are just normal voices with digitally lowered pitch.

The legend says Quan Chi is still kicking it

MK2 -MKT announcer voice will always be the best, they really should have gotten him back in MK11

The guy's name is Steve Ritchie who does the voice for the Original Shao Kahn of MK2-MK Trilogy. Unfortunately his voice box got damaged somehow over the years and he is no longer able to do it, but man was his voice iconic. Gave you the impression of how menacing a brutal emperor like Shao Kahn should sound....FLAWLESS

For my money’s worth, MK 2 is still and will always be the best MK ever. It was a very dark-themed MK, and the sound on that game just set the mood for what the atmosphere in MK should be. I wish the game would go back in that direction.

I think it's almost always whichever one you played first that people say is the best one. For me, I gotta say the best was MK9. It was basically a way better, more modern version of Trilogy, had a great story mode that set the standard for future entries, some awesome DLC characters, and what I loved most was the tag-team ladder mode. Even my brothers and friends who didn't care for MK loved playing that with me, and we felt like such badasses tag-teaming Shao Khan. It was literally everything you could ask for in a Mortal Kombat game. 11 was also really dope with the Aftermath story expansion, they weren't afraid to really kill off tons of characters in that expansion lol

@@wafflcoptrNope. Played MK1 first back when arcades were all the rage. Still think MK2 is miles better and one of the best ones. MK3 is pretty subpar and MK9 - MK11 still very good imho.

i love how Kano be like "Sorry mate, just doing me job" after killing someone or is like "you alright mate?" yeah, after what you did nah, I doubt he's going to be alright there Kano mate.

That’s one thing that bugs me. lol

Always did like the MK vs. DCU version of Electrocution, since while it’s not as gruesome, it still is pretty epic with Raiden charging so much electricity it leaves his opponent as nothing but charred bones.

It's supposed to be like "so gruesome can't even show it" just like when the camera pans off out of frame when Mr Blonde cut the cop's ear off in Reservoir Dogs

Mk2 just had something timeless. Takes me back to where i was when i first played it. Life was good

I think it’s interesting how Johnny Cage’s Fatality became a Brutality in MK11, and literally everyone can use it

Not sure why but MK2 fatalities just seem the most dramatically satisfying of the lot and yes they leave some detail to the imagination but make up for it with perfect music and sound effects.

Mortal Kombat 2-4, MK Deception, and MK Armageddon had my favorite fatalities on them.

You forgot that the MK11 Jhonny Cage Fatalities are references to MK2 Fatalities. One is MK2's Triple uppecut that didn't work out so needed 3 takes and the puppet one is basicaly the second fatality. Btw great video, i aways love those compilations.

My absolute favourite scream is from MK2 at 0:14. Whoever the voice actor was got it perfect.

I've only played Mortal Kombat X and 11 and only started like a year ago so I'm pretty new to it all still lol. But I'm excited for MK1 for my first new game to actually experience at launch and I can't wait!

Brutality in the few MKs are better than fatalities

Kano being called Jarek was mind blowing to me.

I loved the way people sounded when getting hit/hitting/killing and dying in Mortal Kombat 2 the best.

For Johnny Cage, maybe you vould have put the 3 head glitch and then the MK11 with the three deadly uppercut takes that was an homage

18:47 How ironic is it that one of Jax’s fatalities is pulling his opponent’s arms off and in MK9 we see Jax lose both of his arms. Midway obviously didn’t give him that fatality because of his bionic arms as it was one of the fatalities he had in MK2 when he still had his normal arms. I’ve never thought about that until I saw this video

No my friend 4 is the best ! You know why ? It s so funny ! ... so many funny stuff from the voices to the animations etc... for ex if you side step before you perform a Fatality you can actually watch the fatality from different angles which is so funny ! Remember to activate easy fatality cause it doesn’t work with manual fatality ! Cause easy fatality is down plus HP 😝 ! Try it out you laugh as hell you will mess with the fatality angles that so bad that the fatality becomes even funnier than it already is, try both side steps and try to perform fatalities for ex close fatalities from long distance so funny ! I Love Subzero when he slides from mile away and smash you to tiny pieces so funny !

Despite the improved graphics the fatalities and feeling of the first 3 games are unmatched in brutality and the sense of terror. you'd think with new technology they would improve, but fatalities lost their edge and feeling in the newer games. Same happened to gears of war. They never captured the feeling of the first game ever again - it was the darkest and most brutal feeling. Shame when great games lose their identity!

Mk 2 fatalities just hit different...something in the music

Cool attention to detail I noticed at 10:40 if you look really closely you can still see sonyas heart beating inside her carcass above the exposed ribcage. Super subtle

the way sheeva bows is like her saying "I trust you are pleased with this result Master/Mistress"(depending on who pays for her service)

Don’t forget, Shang Tsung also steals the losing opponent’s soul as a Fatality in Deadly Alliance.

My favourite fatality of all time is Noob Saibot’s fatality in MK11 where he cuts his opponent’s abdomen open with his sickle and his shadow goes inside his opponent puts his hands out of their mouth and rips them in half! Noob Saibot is my 2nd favourite character after Shao Kahn and I’m glad he got such a good fatality unlike Shao Kahn where one of his fatalities is quite good where he hits his opponent on the head with his wrath hammer then put his spear into their chest and slices them in half and their head hits the floor, I much prefer his brutality where he hammers his opponent until their limbs come off as well as their head which has their spine attached, I absolutely love that brutality. In MK9 Noob Saibot had the best fatality when he grabs one of his opponent’s legs and his shadow grabs the other leg and they rip their opponent in half and that was my favourite fatality until I saw his MK11 fatality in fact both of his MK11 fatalities are good
