I love older Johnny Cage. He became a dad, mellowed out and did what was best for her. He matured and became an actual respectful person who was visibly disgusted by what a piece of shit his younger self was.

I feel like the time travel causality stuff works here because it's not really getting hurt in the past. Both versions are existing at the same moment. There's no "then how does he get to the fence" moment because the point in time where the injury occurs is still technically after he's already 'reached the fence' per say. Older Johnny Cage never went through the events that younger Cage is experiencing now, just as younger Cage will probably not grow to have to do this all over again as an older man. The injury technically did not occur in the past so much as simultaneously in the moment, and yet the Johnny brought forward IS still the same Johnny from the past, so the effects on him must affect his future self by nature of his very existence. The circumstances of the plot is an anomaly and paradoxal by very nature from the start. There is no attempt nor need to make time travel "work" because it's not really time travel, but time coexistence.

I really want you guys to watch the animated MK Legends movies, they've got problems but they're still fantastic experiences with these characters. The order is Scorpion's Revenge, Battle of the Realms, and Snowblind.

One of my favorite moments in MK11 is Johnny dragging his younger self by the ear out of the room like a parent and misbehaving child. Very funny moment. I really enjoyed Johnny becoming more mature as the story went along.

I found it absolutely hilarious that the edenian ladies beat up 2 KHANS and won

don't forget to watch the version that is MK11 Aftermath....it's got additional chapters and is also pretty great.

Changing something in the past may change the future or it may do nothing to our timeline and create a whole different timeline. So judging how time travel works just doesn't make sense because it doesn't exist yet. So therefore trying to make sense of how mortal Kombat is doing time travel, just doesn't make sense itself. Lol just don't worry about it and enjoy it. But for your question after for all we know, killing someone or hurting someone in the past wouldn't necessarily cease them from existence till they are actually killed. Because it can be stopped until that point and it makes no sense for them to disappear if it hasn't happened yet. So therefore it would make sense that stuff wouldn't happen to Kano or the guy from looper till it actually happens because up until it happens it still has a chance to be stopped so it doesn't become set in time until it happens. But if you think about it like that it actually does start to make sense if that's how it works.

So as far as them beating their revenant selves it's supposed to symbolize that since they've become corrupted they are far weaker than what they were when they were alive

Also, their revenant selves have probably not been doing much in the decades they’ve been down there. When you have eternity, procrastination suddenly doesn’t seem like such a big deal. It’s like, should I do this now, or next millennium?

What like how she had a bad childhood/relationship/lost someone she loves etc. She is a timekeeper and Raiden interfered too much, she had to course correct, and she thought removing him entirely would prevent all the unbalance he created. I really want to know how you would develop her more?

While Shao is the better Kahn, in the sense of him being a threat. But Kotal is definitely a better Kahn in the sense of him being a leader. His word is more trust worthy, he tries to act for his people's best interest, is able to admit his faults and failures, and he is humble enough to relinquish his title to Kitana.

Debatable actually I highly disagree, Kotal is none of the things you said the Game tries to tell us he is but actions are louder and if his name was Hitler we wouldn’t even be surprised. First he usurped the throne for himself for the technical rightful heir who was only angry that her Father was murdered and we never seen the state of Outworld in her rule to know how good or bad it was. Second, he clearly betrays Earth Realm in MKX and attempts to kill them so he’s not trustworthy (Also he lied to Jade and said he ain’t been with no one since Jade yet there’s dialogue of him and D Vorah sleeping together). Third he’s Murdered an ENTIRE Race or two and is clearly Racist towards all things Baraka(tarkatan) and Kollector(Naknadan). And I could go on but I think the evidence shows he’s terrible and the opposite of what you said

He usurped the title of Kahn because it's previous owner literally was expending resources and getting warriors killed over a pointless war with earthrealm. His usurping literally did better outworld, as it was more prosperous than with its previous 2 rulers. He betrayed earthrealm in mkX on 2 occasions. 1 when he was gonna send the kombat kids on their way without the amulet. He did this because he believed earthrealm couldn't be trusted with it. And he was right, not only was it stolen from earthrealm in the first place. But Raiden would later use it to become a tyrant. And 2 he would violate the non aggression pact, but this is due to the belief they struck first and this was due to D'vorah's deceit. He also made the choice to go against them when shinnok invaded because the odds were not on their side and that would have given his people a chance, and he was right again. If Cassie didn't get lucky in using her literal plot armor, earthrealm would have been screwed. And finally what he said to jade wasn't that he hasn't been with anyone. What was said was Jade: I'm surprised no woman has claimed your bed and become you queen. Kotal (snickering): Many have tried. Jade: Yet they failed why? Kotal: None of them were you. What kotal is saying isn't a no to not having sex. But that no woman has given him feelings other than jade to be his queen. And yes his racism to the Tarkatans was wrong. Hence why he relinquished his title, because he knew he was not fit to rule because of what he did to them, it shows his humbleness. I'm not saying Kotal is a saint, but he is an actual leader who care for his people first.

And say what you will about Shao Khan and Onaga but they literally had Outworld on Top of the food chain compared to any of the other Major Realms. Secondly and I’m not some Shao Kahn defender but in the case of Skarlet and Kollector who always mention how Shao Kahn took them from places of poverty into prosperity by outworld standards and hell even taking in Kitana as his daughter with some hope to succeed him one day. I can’t poke too many holes into your comment on Kotal doing what he thought best for Outworld. But what I will say is that in your original comment you said that his word was more “trustworthy” when in fact that was not true as you yourself pointed out two times he double crossed EarthRealm the main one being when used them to kill Mileena who started a Rebellion after Kotals Rebellion btw, then allowed Shinnok to be free in the first as D Vorah double Crossed him right under his nose. So no where in there was he right to have not trusted Earth Realm in that and plus Dark Raiden clearly felt there was a Threat to be felt from Kotal causing his attack. Lastly, Kotal in his time had caused nothing but internal conflict in Outworld with Edenians, Shokans, Tarkatans, assumingely Naknadans, and EarthRealm ALL while being a Vastly weaker Kahn then Shao and Onaga, He might be stronger than Mileena but it’s arguable, and if I may add I don’t remember Mileena ever had issues with at three of those before mentioned. And I don’t see the humbleness you speak of when he gave up being Kahn as Really the situation was Shao bested him and broke his back an litteral army of two of his main enemies where present before him that he “governs” that had plans on killing him had he done anything different at ALL, and with a Broken Back in Outworld and by there customs he simply was unfit the rule and had Aftermath not retconed his back it should have really stated that way. And you can have the argument about Jade but the point I was making was that multiple times he made it seem like it was Jade or nothing and it clearly wasn’t true adding to him being a Liar🤷🏾‍♂️

She refused to ask Earthrealm for help because they 'murdered' her father. You know, the man who invaded the realm and tried to subjugate it, causing the deaths of nearly all it's defenders in the process. Kotal is not even remotely Shao Khan's equal in strength, but his word is more trustworthy than Shao or Mileena. Both are too focused on acquiring and retaining power. Even in this game, Kotal outright states Shao inflicted bandits on the poor. He took everything for himself and left them nothing. So you're being entirely unreasonable here. Kotal is definitely flawed, but he admits it. Shao and Mileena doubled down and murdered anyone who spoke against them.

That is not prosperous, so much so that 4 of her 5 (with the 5th having been in a relationship with her) councilmen literally agreed to as much and even tried to convince her to stop, before they resulted in a coup. The game tells us from different perspectives that she was not a good leader who didnt think about her people first. As for the comparison... Onaga and Shao Kahn were at the top of the food chain, not outworld. Just like lirl dictators, they were the one's who prospered not their people. 2. First of all... the part about shao kahn and Kitana is completely false. When we literally hear from Shao Kahn's own mouth that he only took Kitana in as to appease her mother. I cant believe i am even debating this. Shao Kahn took in the likes of others to use them as weapons and or slaves. The kollector himself even said that shao kahn would sick thieves onto the poor of outworld. 3. The key word being "more" trustworthy. The person he is being compared to is Shao Kahn. The same Shao Kahn who broke his oath to the rules of the MK tournament, and broke his oath to his own tournament that he designed. All done for the sole reason of wanting more control and power for himself. As for the second part of this. You are saying that Kotal is to blame for shinnok's release because D'vorah tricked him and stole the amulet from him. But if you are gonna play the domino effect game, it then goes back to earthrealm and their inability to keep the amulet safe which was their job. And they couldnt be trust with said job, which kotal was right about. Mistrust of them sprang from their own inability. Also Raiden becoming a tyrant again proves kotal right, because the whole point of earthream guarding it is that so it's under lock and key. Not so Raiden can wear it as a symbol of his wrath 4 The tarkatans were at a active war with kotal that they chose to fight in while following mileena, and Goro challenged kotal and lost horribly. The tarkatans were not treated fairly after her death and he has been non verbal with the shokan. But he admitted to this and renounced his title as kahn even though they were visibly ready to follow his command, despite his injuries. He gave Kitana the title of Kahn because she was a better leader, which he is able to admit, unlike the previous three kahns. Also video games take a long long long time to make. The story of aftermath was already thought through. Kotal knowing soul restoration for his legs is not a retcon, the story itself was an already understood follow through. And as for Jade, again what he is saying is that there is no other woman that he has loved, not had sex with, Jade is his only one. Look again, i am not saying Kotal is saint. But to say he isnt humble is willfully ignorant. He was humble enough to follow through on outworld customs with no hesitation. And offer his own life to kung jin after his loss to this earthrealmer. The primary times we seen him toss these traits were for in the name of outworld. He is a leader who made his land prosperous and cares for his people. Which is much more than "the ultimate evil kahn", "The egomaniac kahn", and "the vengeful kahn". He is a good leader and Kitana will make a better one, which he knew.

I love that they brought back at least 5 actors from the original Martal Kombat movie to voice their characters! I'm guessing they voice their past selves

You guys should react to the Mortal Kombat Legends animated movies, they are awesome (except battle of the realms which is rush as hell), there are 3 in total and a fourth one is coming this year.

Regarding the past affecting the future discussion, this is the only story I feel like that works specifically because the past has actually merged with the future. So to me it does actually make sense decisions in real time could affect “the future” like that. But can definitely see it either way

Great reaction😁. Just enjoying the story is the best we can do. The thing with the time travel is different but not really unrealistic because Kronika breaks time in a massive way. We can say the same thing with Marvel and their multiverse & Endgame rules, it's realistic but not everything. Into/Across the Spiderverse have the best rules. Its just irrelevant comparing time rules from one story to another. If you know time rules from other stories/movies/shows it doesn't mean they apply to another story. In reality, everything we know about time travel, timeline, parallel universes etc is all theories, we literally don't what would happen we just guessing. So the writers set their own time rules in their own stories

The political aspect of Outworld was super interesting to me and my favorite part of the story. Outworld without a iron grip like Onaga or Shao Kahn, or without a universally respected leader like Kitana, is simply too many different species and cultures that would implode as we saw. I just wish we could see more from Kitana's rule. Outworld contains what, Outworlders, Tarkatans, Centaurs, Shokan, Zaterrans, Osh-Tek, Edenians, Kytinn, so many. It would have been awesome to see a truly united, strong but not necessarily evil Outworld under Kitana and see future interactions.

Shao Kahn kicks Kotals ass all the time lol. Also in this timeline when Shao Kahn killed Onaga he absorbed some of his power which is why he looks more like a dragon, when he absorbed his power it changed him some.

Each story/movie/show has its own time rules/theory. If you know time rules from other stories/movies/shows it doesn't mean they apply to another story. In reality, everything we know about time travel, timeline, parallel universes etc is all theories, we literally don't what would happen we just guessing.
