Honestly impressive they even got it running. MK1 looks to be made for current-gen consoles & PC. Trying to make it work for last-gen is one thing, but to attempt it on hardware that was far less powerful than the PS4 & One X? It can absolutely work on the Switch as well as the ps4 and bone. A decision was made not to for the older consoles. The Switch version needed more work to run well instead of simple geometry and texture downscaling.

It could run on the Switch. It was just directions taken that prevented it from being made possible. They could have done a shaded style for the graphics and all that jazz. That and found creative ways to work out loading issues and whatnot.

​@dark_mode its not. MKX and 11 look great on switch. As did modern skyrim, RDR, witcher 3, and doom. The issue is that they did nothing to stabilize or optimize the switch version. MK1 would definitely look worse on the switch rhan it's other console counterparts but it shouldn't look lik3 thus

The only ones who can take notice is Nintendo, they need to release a console with acceptable power/standards, Switch is completely incapable of that. It's basically a weak android tablet from 2017. But the devs of any switch port are always the first ones to blame right? No! Nintendo's hardware is dogcrap!

The most egregious thing is that it's priced about the same as the current generation and people actually bought it.

This is actually a throwback Easter egg in itself back to the days when MK had to make drastically different versions of their game for each system.

It's impressive that the developers managed to make the game run on the Switch's hardware, but the real question is not whether they could, but whether they should have. This is all the result of Warner and Nintendo's greed. Warner wanted a piece of the lucrative Switch market share, perhaps assuming that Switch owners didn't prioritize graphics. Meanwhile, Nintendo should have protected its consumers by removing the game from the online store. Where is Nintendo's seal of quality in all of this?

This should be charged the same price as a 3ds game, the fact they’re charging $70 is absolutely insane.

The graphics kinda reminds me of MK9 on the Vita, except MK9 on the Vita has new challenges that don't exist on the Console/PC version, it's still on version 1.00 and doesn't have any game braking bugs. (IGN gave it an 8.5) The Switch port should have been released later on or maybe next year.

For starters they could have removed cameos, removed clash loads and replaced it with a traditional vs screen where the game loads and the characters say sh*t. Like Street Fighter 5 they could have added a cell shaded textture to remove the bad visuals. Or simply if it was really that bad they could have released an sxclusive SWITCH version like Guilty Gear that could have it's own uniqueness

Funnily enough, the release trailer for the Switch version on Nintendo's official KZread channel actually doesn't show any of these issues at all...because it seems to be using PC footage on low settings instead. There's even a Steam notification that pops up on the bottom right at one point in the trailer, you'd think someone would check properly and remove such a glaring mistake for a trailer meant exclusively for the Switch version.

Get your facts straight. NRS had nothing to do with the Switch port. It was developed by Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive.

Panic Button should have handled the port of this game they got Doom Eternal running on the Switch looked well given the technical limitations and played surprisingly well

This was Saber Interactive who proved to be no slouch to Switch ports since they did The Witcher 3. I bet they probably didn’t get nearly enough time to work their magic here though unlike Doom Eternal where Panic Button got several extra months to polish it up.

That seems to also have been what they used to advertise the Switch release, lol. And it actually looks better than this. Go look at the release trailer for the Switch version on Nintendo's official KZread channel. Not only are none of the performance issues present, a Steam notification literally appears at the bottom right during the video when Steam isn't supported on Switch. How this made it past them will likely remain anybody's guess just as much as how this release ever got past QA into the market will.

Props for actually giving it the 3, it clearly shouldn’t exist.

My fear is that they will see this as people not wanting Mortal Kombat on Nintenfo platforms at all rather than a result of the poor porting job itself. In the right hands, this could have been great. Looking at you, Panic Button. This also serves as proof that a new Nintendo console is long ovwrdue, and if runors about its capabilities are to be believed, then they should have waited until that system came out. Maybe even promote is as a launch title.

During the press release, people ignored that the Switch version was being outsourced. While MK11 Switch was done by NRS and performed better though it still needed patches.

5:42 In mild point of fairness (every other complaint in this video seems perfectly reasonable), I've had that exact same "decapitated head stays floating in air" bug on PC, frequently with any kind of uppercut brutality.

They have a Collector's Edition that will be coming out on the commodore 64 on floppy disc runnimg at 5 frames per second

Lowest PC settings give you a stable framerate. The switch is far worse, it stutters and drops frames in 480p

The problem is this is the same team that imported MK11 and they didn’t put enough effort into this one. Rumor going around that a lot of it was rushed to be released with all other consoles. Sad

"How the hell is this gonna run on Switch?" "That's the neat part, it doesn't."

Can't we revisit -- just once -- the style and aesthetic of the first Mortal Kombat? Get those style sprites, enhanced gameplay, greater roster and storymode, etc. It's a horror masterpiece.

WB Games rushed this port onto the market to please investors. This issue has nothing to do with Switch hardware or developer inexperience. Saber Interactive & Shiver Entertainment are well capable of porting high end ports. It's literaly what they do. It's clear to me this port was rushed.

Why are you defending this? This IS the fault of both the Switch and the devs for geeenliting this port and the switch for it's abysmal hardware from 2015.
