    Fun fact, if you pick up the tax collector's gold and then immediately go and confront the murderer and kill him, you can then go to the census and excise office and complete the quest and get the reward, WITHOUT having to give up the 200 you find on the guy's body.

    He didn't show the best part of it. it's full of moon sugar and skooma, which stacks like all the other potions. Mix with the Icarian Flight scrolls to jump literally anywhere. With Skooma rushing and the scroll, you could easily jump from one end of the island to the other, completely clearing Red Mountain in the process. Solstheim is literally a jump away, and if you have the Tamriel Expanded mod, you could probably clear Solstheim to Almalexia in a single jump.

    I managed to get in there once, as I recall. I had been curious about it for a long time and eventually got around to actually sneakily breaking in. I recall it being fairly exciting, though I don't recall having actually found much that was interesting. Probably broke into it with a high-level character and thus all the gear was likely useless.

    Another good tip is the sword of white woe: in the guard tower in Balmora near Caius Cosades's house, on the second floor, there is a guard and a dresser and a bed. If you position yourself right, you can get up on the bed and then behind a pillar to grab the sword while the guard can't see you. The sword is an ebony longsword with a good enchantment, you can use it the whole game.

    Another pro tip for beginners: in Balmora there is a two story house next to the potion store with a lock lvl of 75 (or something like that, I don't remember exactly) but if you jump or levitate to the second floor there is another door that is either unlocked or has a low level lock. Once inside you can just open the front door without picking it. Inside this house is a dead guy on the floor and a bunch of storage space (boxes and barrels.) The dead guy also acts a bottomless storage space. Just move right in, it's a great easy to access base you can use for the rest of the game.

    Near Gnisis there's a woman near a pond ( under a bridge I think? ) that says she lost her ring. It's a trap, and there's an invisible bandit that starts shooting you when you go in the water. To add some clarity to this post (I went on a hunt for this after I saw your post), the woman is under a big Dwemer bridge that leads to Arkngthunch-Sturdumz. She is on the road toward Khuul and Ald Velothi to the north. Hang slightly west and you’ll find her under the bridge. She asks you to find a ring that is pretty, dang hard to find (in between the first and second plant from the south edge of the pool). Once you find it, they attack you. Kill them and take the spoils.

    If you finish the quest with the dead tax collector and return his ring to the lady in the lighthouse, you profit 300 gold total from the tax office, 2 standard healing potions from returning the ring, and a house you can use after legally killing it's owner. There is also a book inside of the lighthouse worth ~300 gold, very easy to steal. Easily one of the simplest quests in the game with great rewards.

    A pro-tip for the boots of blinding speed: don't use a 100% magic resist spell, use a ~70% instead. The screen will be a little darker, but you will have a 30% blindness effect on you, and in Morrowind a small amount of blindness is actually a good thing because it INCREASES your chance to hit with melee weapons (it's supposed to decrease it but it was coded wrong). This makes hitting enemies with high agility like cliff racers easier, and the 70% resist magic spell is easier to cast than a 109% spell to boot

  • @Kemachris

    @Kemachris

    2 жыл бұрын

    Friendly reminder, this is only true if you play vanilla morrowind, the "Morrowind Code Patch" and probably other fix mods, fixes this error so that blindness correctly reduces your chance to hit instead of increasing it.

    To add to this there is no need to waste another scroll of icarian to land safely. All you need is a spell with just 1 point of slowfall and it will negate all fall damage. Just cast it before hitting the ground and you are golden. The magic system in Morrowind is like that a bunch though where a lot of the magical effects aren't fully explained so best to experiment with all of them to find out what they do. Some of them have effects that will surprise you. Some of them are also surprisingly cheap to cast even for a non mage character that is just looking for an advantage in a fight such as blind to decrease how many hits you take from an enemy or sound to have enemy mages waste all their magicka trying and failing to cast spells. A experienced Morrowind player treats the magic system like Batman treats his utility belt as a bag of tricks that can help out of any situation even if you yourself are not a mage character. To add to this If a nonspellcaster character wants to have access to some spell casting in a pinch and has a hard time finding the proper spell in scroll form you can take just about any piece of paper in the game you find other than books and take them to an enchanter that for a price can enchant them to to your liking providing you can get the soul gems and know the spell effect. I personally pick up just about every piece of paper I find laying around and store it away in a crate somewhere just in case I need a scroll for a rainy day.

    @Andrew Sossaman No need to really save them either honestly. Racer Plumes and Trama Root are found everywhere and Coda Flowers are everywhere in the Bitter coast. All those can be used to make a levitation potion for free. Any combo of those will make you a levitate potion with no risk of it being anything else other than a levitation potion as the only effect they share is levitation. So feel free to brew all you want even if you can't see the effects on the ingredients quite yet. I love alchemy.

    0:45 A better technique I found was to just enter your inventory (usually the right mouse button) and just click on the key with your left mouse button from there, and lay it back down. After you exit from your inventory, it will cause the same effect as with the Limeware Plate in the beginning, where the key becomes yours after Sellus Gravius talks to you and doesn't find the key in your inventory. Just remember to drop other stolen items before you do this, or they will get taken in the process.

    -Always use weapon type you have some points in, at full stamina bar, otherwise you will miss a lot of hits. If you want to level other weapon types easier without trainer, using Bound Weapon spells give you temporary weapons with 10pts bonus to corresponding skills. Picking Conjuration as your major skill also gives free Bound Dagger spell that like with Hearth Heal from Restoration is fantastic for early game, and eliminates the problem of dealing with Ghosts. -Telekinesis skill, while looking quite worthless, allows you to steal things from places you normally would be seen and set off traps. Traps shoot a projectile that you can dodge by moving your char out of the way. -Mark & Recall can save you trouble coming back to places with very confusing layout or navigation (looking at you, Vivec City) -Frenzy allows you to force NPCs that refuse to talk to you to attack you. It's not considered assault -Enchantments recharge by themselves while resting, but you can also Soultrap own summons

    0:49 it's so much easier to just open the inventory screen first, grab the key then put it back down. This isn't an early-game strat, but I recreated the power of the flight scrolls by stacking jump enchantments. I did this by paying someone at the mages' guild to enchant a set of exquisite clothing (shirt, pants/skirt, belt, shoes, and 2 rings and an amulet [these can be extravagant instead]) using grand soul gems with a high-powered jump spell that lasts long enough to stack all the casting and get a running start (I usually did 70 points for 7 seconds). I also had to take some form of slowfall with me to not only make sure I didn't explode on landing, but also to stop early, since a jump with minimal load could launch me clear across the entire island. Before I reached my destination I'd start slowfalling early, since trying to do it just before landing often didn't work out. The money to do all this came from raiding the Hlaalu vaults and selling everything there to the Mudcrab Merchant, who has the deepest pockets, though I'd have started hoarding gold long before that.

    I know it’s a few years late but! You can go get the tax man’s gold and then directly to kill the murder (name is a male dark elf being charged 200 gold in taxes) and then go turn the quest in which lets you keep the 200 + the 500 for solving the murder!(DO NOT START QUEST THROUGH DIALOGUE! MUST GO STRAIGHT TO DEAD TAX COLLECTOR AND THEN KILL THE DARK ELF THEN TURN IN QUEST FOR THE EXTRA GOLD!) You can also give the ring to the lady in the lighthouse for two additional potions, then kill her and take back the ring plus loot all of the lighthouse and you can use this as a house or base for the rest of the game if you want! After turning the healing ring into Fargoth your high disposition with Arielle makes living in town a good choice! In the stump closest to the lighthouse there is also extra gold and a silver cup worth something like 13 gold! The second or third set of swamps on your right leaving the starting town is another tree stump that has an enchanted dagger and 50 more gold! You can kill all NPC’s in the starting town INSIDE their home’s (usually locked and these NPC’s won’t leave or call guards), which bumps up gold from the start with no extra mercantile somewhere around 2500+ before leaving the tutorial! There is also one unmarked quest where you speak to the imperial citizen and ask about advice, he will send you to the stilt strider and if you use his name when speaking to her she sends you back to him where you can trade 100 gold for an enchanted ring! Basically ALWAYS check any tree stumps for extra loot! Some even require very high Acrobatics skill or some low level levitate to see but do have loot, outside of Khuul is one that has a skull and a glass jinkblade worth 4900 gold! I just really love this game and am still finding new things out from time to time! HOPE THIS HELPS

    if you want to get a lot of gold quick too you can always raid the Redoran vaults, if you are in vivc and at the redoran plaza, the mansion inside with the walls around it (Dralor Manor) has a key in the upper room in one of the drawers, you can position yourself with the door to not get detected and take the key, then head to the redoran treasury and then the vaults, and you can open the treasure rooms inside, if you wait the guards will leave and you can get around 100K gold from my experiences (selling the stuff to the Creeper in Caldera is good aswell because he has 0 Mercantalism which means he buys at full price)

You can travel by silt strider from Seyda Neen to Balmora to Ald Ruhn to Khuul and make your way east to Kogoruhn. This is great loot from an undefended (there may be some dreamers around, but you can likely one shot then with the axe from the tree stump in Seyda Neen) corpse at the beginning of the game.

    For PC versions only, you actually don't need to grab the limeware platter first and then pull it out of your inventory. What I do is bring up the inventory first, when I'm in arm's length of the platter. While still in the inventory menu, you can grab the platter with your pointer and then drag it off to the edge of the screen and then drop the platter. It still counts as stealing and the guards still react, but they cannot move until you leave inventory menu. It just gives you that little extra time. This method also gives you a whole lot of time to steal pretty much everything in the room. Just don't pick up everything off the ground until you are all finished stealing, because even though you can pick them all up again without repercussion, the items are still flagged as stolen, and the guard will take everything if they are in your inventory.

  • @OriginalChaosEpoch
    @OriginalChaosEpoch3 жыл бұрын

    Another pro strat. If you're trying to steal something to keep it, but you know that a guard will catch you. (such as 0:52) you can grab the item while you're in your inventory. Simply be in range of the object. Open up your inventory screen, manage your UI boxes so that you can see the item and then pick up and drop the item back into the gameworld (not into your inventory as this will fail) while you're still paused in your inventory. You will still be caught, but this completely eliminates any risk of having the item taken away by the guards since there's no way for them to react to your action. Then simply go back to where you were and pick up the item and it's yours.

I'd you do the quest, giving his ring to the lady in the lighthouse gets you two healing potions, and informing the census and excise dude you took care of it gets you a 500 gold reward. So, for a little legwork and one fight against an unarmed man....it's better to do the quest than keep the 200.

I also learned recently that if you don't want to use the boots to travel you can also open console with the tilde key and type coc "insert city name here, insert location in city here" to fast travel to specific locations. Morrowind does have silt strider & boat travel so it's totally cheating but it's nice to save a couple minutes walking back to Balmora after grabbing flowers or something. example: coc "balmora, guild of mages"

    I mean, you can have the same effect totally legit with Intervention scrolls/spells/amulets, or recall and mark spells. Biggest drawback with divine and almsivi intervention is that you need to have a rough idea to what town you will be teleported, but with Mark/recall you can just teleport back to whatever town you marked with no issues.

    It's easier to do this if you open your inventory drop them down and then while in the "blank" inventory, magic, and other screens, simply pick up each item that you want to steal and drop them on the floor to pick up later when you get out of your inventory and other screens. You can rob the money boxes and many other things throughout the game. They only stop you once you get back into the game or if they see you.

    The tomb contains three leveled daedra, but two of them don't spawn until the player is level 3 or higher. At level 1 there should have been a scamp there. The wiki says none of the daedra spawn until level 3, but one of the leveled lists used is in_dae_all_lev-2, which should spawn a scamp at level 1. EDIT: I just checked with a level 1 character, and a scamp does spawn, but it's in a locked side room, so you can avoid it while getting the ring. The side room has a skill book in it though.

    Forgot about the Vasser Didanat Cave trick! Just out of Balmora, follow the path to the egg mine. There should be a bridge, cross it, and look for a cave. All you have to do is enter the cave, leave, and go to the Haunted Manor in St. Olm’s Canton, Vivec. There’s a master lockpick under the table, and you can buy Ondusi’s Unhinging scrolls infinitely from Arielle in Seyda Neen if needed. Once you can enter, find Dram Bero, tell him about the cave, and he will give you a daedric weapon of your choice. Even from level 1.

    I don't know if this works on PC, but if you get the warehouse key, then go back out the door you entered from, go to the corner where the wall meets the building, and jump, you will phase through the wall. Then you can steal everything in the warehouse and if the guard sees you, just drop it like you did with the platter and he lets you off with a warning again. Another trick. This is one I figured out, and not many people seem to know. You can combine teleportation spells. So if you Mark a spot, and then make a spell with Recall AND Divine Intervention, everytime you cast it you will get two loading screens, one to bounce you to the recall point and the other to the closest Divine shrine to the recall point. So here is what I do. I set my Mark on the island with the talking mudcrab merchant. Recall takes me to the mudcrab. Recall+Divine=Ebonheart Recall+Almsivi=Molag Mar Recall+Divine+Almsivi=Vivec Temple Recall+Almsivi+Divine=Sadrith Mora Basically, this not only takes you to the best merchant in the game, it allows you to teleport around the whole South and East sides of Vvardenfell in the time it takes for at most three loading screens.
