In today’s video, join us in Chefchaouen with our friends from Moroccan Food Tour & Tour Guide Youssef (IG: / blue.city_guide , a city in the north of Morocco known for its beautiful blue colours painted on every street and wall. The entire old city is painted in different tones of blue, which is complemented by bright orange trees and lush green plants. In this episode, we will be showing you the beauty of Chefchaouen and also the amazing food it has to offer. Chaouen is a unique destination in Morocco, and its street food and local dishes should NOT be missed.
We’re first taking you to a cafe for a local “Chaouen” style breakfast. This includes fried eggs, shaved beef sausage, olives, baked breads, honey and jam. In April, oranges are in season which means you can get a huge mug of fresh squeezed orange juice anytime. We also ordered Moroccan mint tea. This cafe had a beautiful view of the “two horns” mountain peaks and the river Fouara.

Next, we entered the medina to try local street foods. We started with “caliente” which is a hot chickpea pie. After we stopped at a traditional cookie stall to try ginger & cinnamon cookies, an avocado smoothie with sweets known as Zaa Zaa, and then more Moroccan mint tea.
Prices in order: 1 MAD (USD $0.11) per caliente, 1 MAD (USD $0.11) per cookie, 12.10 MAD (USD $1.36) for Zaa Zaa, Mint Tea: free
We dropped into an Amazigh artisanal home to see how the local carpets and blankets are weaved with real wool. After watching the weaving process by Youssef, we purchased a blanket that had the traditional Amazigh tribal designs incorporated into it.

Next, it was time for a local style lunch. We ordered 2 tagra (similar to tajine, but used for dishes that cook fast like seafood). One with shrimp, and one with anchovies. These tagra were paired with fried anchovies, and Lubia (white beans).

We continued exploring the city, stopping by the Kasbah and Outa el Hammam, before visiting a local vendor selling seasonal fruits and vegetables. As the sun started to set over Chefchaouen, we started hiking up the mountain to arrive at Chefchaoen’s Spanish Mosque, which isn’t in use, but it used to be a church. Now, it’s popular among locals and tourists to visit at sunset. This location provides the best view over the entire blue city, while the sun goes over the mountains.

Marrakech was amazing when I went a few years ago, but Chefchaouen looks so picturesque!
Luke and Sabrina are the reasons why you can't trust mainstream media when it comes to certain countries portrayal. Moroccans are some of the most humblest, hard-working, kind-hearted people you could ever meet. Nothing but love for them. Their Cuisine is some of the best in the world and their Moorish ancestors definitely influenced cuisine in Spain, Portugal and Italy. The popular Spanish dish paella has Moroccan Origins. Also look I like how you touched on the majority of people in Morocco are Berbers and not Arabs in terms of DNA. They was conquered by the Arabs in the seventh century in Arab culture and customs were forced upon them. I want to add that they have a great football culture. I definitely hope when the World Cup comes back to Africa Morocco will be one of the countries to host the World Cup.

I can’t believe how much this little village reminds me of Capri, Italy. When we got to the top of the mountain in Capri we had lunch at a small place where there were fresh lemons growing right by the patio dining area. They were the size of my head!!! It was lemon season while we were there and the fresh limoncello was insanely delicious!! There were fig trees and lemon trees and it was so beautiful. The day after we stopped at a small Greek island that had the blue domed churches and homes. Everything was stucco and this bright white with the dark blue on top of every building, it was breathtaking!!! My all time favorite trip was that trip down the Mediterranean to several ports in Italy and Greece. Now I’ll have to go to Morocco...it looks like it’s exactly the kind of place I’d love. The closest I’ve ever been to experiencing anything Moroccan was eating at the Moroccan restaurant in Epcot Disney. Quite authentic as I’m told and if that is even half as good as the food in Morocco then I imagine it’s amazing!!!! ✌🏻💕😊 P.S. *Sabrina, I’m loving your outfit!!!* 🥰

After giving you the cheese he said b'Saha which means health. It's like saying to your health or good health and it said when someone is eating. In other Arabic speaking cultures they drop the b and just say Saha.

Has nothing to do with being arab or arabic culture. It’s just something that muslims in general say. So you don’t need to be arab to say that. Moroccans aren’t even arabs :)

just like greece morocco experience mediteranean climate.. Morocco is verry deeply mediteranean north moroccan cities are all painted blue and white just lik greek islands..

I miss those little shops. I miss Morocco. What a beautiful place to visit. For anyone wanting to move there it doesn't take very much money to live well in Morocco. Even seniors on social security can live very well there.
i'm actually a moroccan too and i looooooove this city .. i was very sad that i haven't been there in over two year .. but this video got back some memories because i've to all those places you've shown

And you can have the same breakfast for even less price.. It's beaucause it's a touristy place and the restaurant is famous for the nice view
