Nicholas Hennessy it's already been established that Toyotaro can't write for shit. He's one that copies, not one that creates. Whenever he creates something, its usually really bad. And if you look at most other things he did he always copies from someone, if that someone isn't toryama. Example is this character right here, which is a total plain copy of demon king piccolo, with a new design. Toyotaro should never have been chosen for this. Toryama just accepts it cus he is tired of writing DragonBall and barely cares.

4:37 yeah, I like that Vegeta gets to have another redemption arc. He already redeemed himself from an Earth standpoint, but until now he never got the chance to atone for the shit he was pulling on Namek, and now he can do it in a big way

I really hope we aren't blueballed though. I know Goku is the main character, but if Vegeta doesn't play a significant enough role in defeating Moro and restoring Namek, it's going to be a massive letdown. If Vegeta fights Moro, loses, then Goku goes UI and wins - that's gonna be very disappointing.

A better use of the third wish would be to seal away, permanently, Goku and Vegeta's god forms. Force them to go back to basic super saiyan. I believe when they faced off against Moro they only ever used blue and or red. If that's all Moro knows about then it would make sense for him to seal THAT part only away and not the whole super saiyan transformation (blonde hair). The power boost they received and spent so much time using for all of SUPER is now gone. They would be forced to do something new and creative which in turn would be much better and it would give other characters more to do since Goku and Vegeta can't god power everything away.

I can't believe how brillant this idea actually is. This would also automatically make the other Z fighters that toriyama fucked , actually pretty relevant again as the power discrepancies now wouldn't be that much as fighters like 18 , tien piccolo , krillin etc now are much closer to the sayins in power levels. And Moro could still release all the prisoners without using a secret wish on such a stupid thing.

The dragon can affect people that allow him to do so: Goku told Polunga not to teleport him to Erath after the namek saga thus the dragon couldn't do anything, Moro told him to bring him back to his young age that way the dragon could do that. That's basic dragonball knowledge

Moro is just a living spirit bomb. In terms of personality Moro needs to challenge the views of the heroes on a philosophical level. I didnt think this would blow up but I'm loving these responses.

Dragon Ball's never had a villian that the audience genuinely agreed with to some degree, it's always been either "I'm gonna destroy everything because I can." or "I'm gonna rule the world/universe because I can." or fucking "All mortals are evil because I saw an alien kick another alien one time, they all need to die." Most of Naruto's villians were products of their environment so you were able to understand why they did what they did and were like "Yeah, I would be like this too if I grew up in a war zone and my one of my only friends died right in front of me. (Pain)" Give me one example of this kind of depth in Dragon Ball.

True lol, but it is important to point out problems one has early. It's unknown whether the full arc is planned out yet or not (I mean this is DB after all) so bringing up gripes hoping for change is good. On the flip side, if the problem is fixed, it makes a video like this ironically positive.

And honestly, even if that wasn't the case, it's still far better than guys like Frieza and the U6 Saiyans just catching up to Goku because of "potential".

But remember the movie and anime came before and Toyotaro sped through the first two arcs (skipping RoF for a while), only recapping most events and expanding on only a couple points. However, considering vegeta's training with Whis got him to God levels at base even in the anime, it can pretty much go either way in the manga, but I think it might as well be the same all things considered.

And there will never be real in world implications to most actions because Dragon Ball. Toriyama f****d himself on that one when he introduced a (several) magic Macguffin that can reverse nearly everything. 98% of anything will never have consequences because thats the nature of the story, and that's being generous.

SS Robs hearts in heroes is looking like-a “Dio” character with cool motives in the not so good anime (trash anime) but the manga (waiting for more chapters to be translated) is lit and the character has that bojack or sinister 6 feeling (kill the omni king, to sounds lit); real villains with motives unique abilities but oh wait - it’s non canon cus it has complexity lol... morro is the last saving grace for a “out of the norm character”, no macguffins needed to beat unless they resort to a plot device used for power scaling, specifically for mui goku...; Beerus, if he is ever used again (he’s now an irrelevant character, that shueisha and toei and toriyama could use to great use but no)

Immortality wasn't kept secret very well but Goku Black's identity kept people guessing. The final reveal on that was amazing.

Besides those letdown cliffhangers the arc has been entertaining. Hopefully Vegeta’s new tricks make up for it.

I think the best part of Moro is his ability to force them out of transformations. I've been wanting a villain to do this for years honestly. He gives me the same vibes as Pain from Naruto. With the gravity, fire, and just straight magic.

In hindsight, Moro was written this way, it's not an inconsistency. He fought Vegeta on Namek without revealing too much, then draining the Saiyans. Releasing all of the prisoners was a "smokescreen" when what he was really interested in was OG73, because of his abilities and the possibility he could power himself further through him. But Moro knew 73 on his own could be taken out, so releasing the whole gang to create chaos in the galaxy, confusing his enemies, as well as finding energy sources for the Goat to feast on. I think Moro is the most cunning villain so far in all DB.

That would be an awesome way to continue on, but still, with Moro's powers, there's no way to waste a wish on that. He could probably disintegrate the whole prison. The Galactic Patrol stands no chance against him. There was just no point to it. It'd be like if Frieza got a wish and he used it to charge a death ray he used to shoot piccolo... he could already do that.

he should have wished for mortals to not be able to access god powers. BOOM now we can conceive of super leading to end of z and GT, gives goku and vegeta a reason to use the other super saiyan forms and opens the door for a canon version of ssj4. OPPORTUNITY FRIGGIN MISSED.

The reason Meerus can’t intervene is because he’s an angel. But that wasn’t revealed as of this videos release.

It wasn't exactly hard to even guess tho was it? SS3 is getting left behind I fail to see why someone being able to keep up with it would be an issue

I was one of the few people who criticized Merus being able to outspeed and incapacitate Goku and Vegeta at the start of the arc. At their level even being “caught off guard” shouldn’t have mattered. I’m also not sure I’d agree that Moro’s wish is “bad writing” since I think it was an interesting payoff that has yet to fully reach its conclusion(plus I prefer a villainous team over everyone fighting one guy again). Other than that, good video.

Moro’s third wish is actually subversive because it is so mundane. He gets his army to cause chaos and he eventually gets Seven-Three’s powers. Both further his goals. And all from a simple wish. It’s really clever, something a Z-era or original Dragon Ball wish would never have done.

3 months after this video it's revealed Meerus is an angel in training. This is why you shouldn't jump to conclusions lol.

I still cannot believe that it seems like NOBODY realized that Merus was an angel. What? He literally looks exactly like the rest of them, teaches Goku ultra instinct, and dodges all of Goku's attacks in a very similar way to the way Whis does.

Its easy to say that now after the reveal looking back, but thats just how theories are. They seem too absurd at the moment until they are fully confirmed

Bro I love this!! Watching your videos definitely helps me become a better storyteller for my vids.

So many people in these comments are disregarding the fact that Porunga can't do half the stuff they thought could be Moro's wish. Porunga couldn't even bring Goku to Earth against his will after the explosion of Namek, how the hell would he "cancel out super saiyan forms" or anything like this? He can't change the saiyans against their will (and much less Beerus or Whis), he probably can't fuse universe 7 and 6 (also, why would he?). The one thing he could've done is ask for imortality. All in all, at least his wish for the prison break brought somewhat interesting characters to the mix.

Is it just me, or does Moro look like Bojack Horseman living his best alternate dimensional life?

DB needs more comic book type villains. Enemies that can't just be beaten by brute force alone. I like the fact that they introduced the Angels as these almighty beings. But i'm afraid that they might just run into the trap of making it so you can just be at the angels level just because training.A worlds sometimes needs Eldritch beings that just cant be beaten.

He practically fetishizes someone being "the strongest" and "overwhelming power" even though the punches look the same, because they have to because its a manga. Look up "power levels are stupid" if you want a way better detailed explanation of what is wrong with dragonball's villains and their power levels

There are pages in the middle before Moro kills the Namekian warrior

I didn't think the third wish reveal was bad writing; keeping it a secret from Goku and Vegeta allowed the Moro Corps to ambush them. Although I do think they should have set up 7-3 before Moro made the wish.

Moro is the Dragon Ball Z equivalent of Galactus, but less threatening.

Because he only consumes planets to get stronger, and that's rare because he hardly ever faced people strong enough to beat or rival him. Galactus consumes planets to survive.

@@ABlackGuyAdept And also because Galactus comes on the scale of being able to manipulate matter and achieve size alteration. His strength is astronomically higher than Moro's even at the lowest in stories where he was literally dying from hunger and made the Avengers look like a joke.

Not really Moro just became more clichéd him fisting Goku doesn't mean anything especially with Dende or the Gods or the Angels . Vegeta still got the fodder treatment and his fusion with 73 ruined any good his design had the arc is getting hype because it got more violent its shallow

@@rrei_. oh I understand although its was really obvious. when he first showed up I thought Angel then when we got a color page and it was confirmed for me. His opinion's on him aren't really still wrong since whis has broken the "rules" countless times making merus reasons kinda contrived

Please do an updated video on this saga. Things have changed, A LOT since this video and the chapters you've covered. So far, this saga has been one of the most intense and interesting to read, for me at least.

Watching this after merus' backstory makes me appreciate the writing so much more. They did such an amazing job explaining his strength and why merus didn't help with frieza, cell and buu

I'm loving the emphasis on techniques in this arc..it really does away with the notion that 'i just need to punch you harder and i'll win' I'm also hyped to see what Vegeta will do. He needs this.

Reading the manga up to this day really explained a lot of the points you made, but given when this video was made, you were pretty spot on.

Really threw a wrench in this video when it's revealed that the random galactic patrolman who can easily outmaneuver SSJ3 was an Angel in training.

Yeah he REALLY needs to remake this video after the Moro Arc is done.

I think you ranted too much about the third wish to be honest. Having a large intergalactic army on your side is something only Frieza did, and it actually added stakes by allowing other characters to fight and potentially die. I didnt mind it at all.

It's just weird that his secret trump card wish amounted to nothing but a bunch of throwaway henchmen. And so far none of them appear to be able to do anything Moro wouldn't just be able to do himself.

@@nillomat 7-3 was able to do something incredibly important that Moro couldn't: absorb people's abilities/mirror their power. This allowed Moro to make a comeback against Vegeta. So, 7-3 alone was more than worthy of having as an ally.

Thats why he is so interesting to me, there hasnt been a villian that genuinely cares for his allies like this so far. And he makes them genuine threats by sharing his power.

Ken Leja I wouldn’t say he cares about his allies, while you could say he helps his allies. He nonchalantly would have killed off two minions for being “traitors”, and also killed Cranberry for a third wish. He’s just pragmatic in the same way Cooler is, treat them with respect and don’t kill them for stupid reasons like Frieza does. He shares power cause he wants less obstacles on his path to power, and he assists them to spare manpower in future battles.

Notisttt I know. Basic research would’ve helped him a lot. He should’ve done his proper homework before milking and pushing this rushed video for the views. Most of his points can be argued against and are redundant if anyone actually put some thought into them. This video is vapid, full of ignorance and clearly poorly made. I personally disliked it.

7:04 I don't think Merus would be directly teaching Goku, but he'd be a sparring partner instead. Like how Whis told Goku the gist but didn't actually *teach* him Ultra Instinct, and how Goku slowly mastered Ultra Instinct during the tournament, Merus would just be a step toward Goku learning to maintain Ultra Instinct.

I actually have been rnjoying this arc more than the tournament of power. It’s more than just fighting all the time. I do like Moro’s design and even though there’s not a lot of character to him I feel like the arc is still in the first half and there’s still a lot to learn about all these new characters.

I have no problem with merus, it is entirely possible for someone else than goku to be strong, how else would the galactic patrol be as big of a governing state in the galaxy as it is? The majority of dbz has been spent on earth, with the rare space travel to namek, How is that enough to say that earth has the strongest fighters in the then known universe, it is entirely possible someone was training somewhere else, facing different enemies than goku and vegeta, aka merus, yes goku is insanely strong, but that doesn't make him automatically the strongest, it isn't bad writing, it really shows how much we actually see from the db universe.

@@77dd2 it was GoD and angels of each universe task to seek out fighters from their respective universe to fight in the ToP, Beerus just went to earth since he knew earth had strong fighters, he didn't bother to look anywhere else, if he had I'm sure that Merus or any fighter in u7 willing would join in, it also didn't help that Beerus wanted to not tell anyone except for the one present aka goku to not cause universal panic, doesn't help when you don't even get an invitation.

77dd2 they only had 2 days to find people, and instead of looking throughout the universe beerus decided to just let Goku ask his friends to go to the TOP, you could say the same thing about why wasn’t broly in the TOP even if he wasn’t as strong as ssb++ he had to at least be stronger than master Roshi and Krillin

I've been keeping up with the manga and the Moro arc and Gohan's battle with Seven-three...yeah, it's getting good.

I just realized this arc has been going on for like a year.

Me: I really like this thing in Dragon Ball. Mark: You are totally not right.

This could have been the perfect way to bring in bojack and his gang The herans with transformations similar to goku and vegeta (they could have descended from the same ancestors)

I really like his design. It's a very distinct look. The shoulder fur and general direction reminds me of Viking depictions in random stuff I've seen.

Moro is Xehanort's Fursona meets Galactus and you can't change my mind.
