Morning Routine of a Mennonite Mom | Pregnant Mom with Toddler

#morningmotivation #sahm #mennonitemom
Here is my typical morning routine as a stay at home mom of a toddler, with a baby due next month! Yes, my mornings are usually this predictable, but that's how I get stuff done! If you're new around here, I am a Mennonite mom and would love to have you look around on my channel! Maybe we can get to know each other a little better!

Bamboo Straws:

Cold Brew Iced Latte Recipe:
Place 2/3 c. coffee grounds in french press.
Pour 3 cups of cold water over grounds.
Stir to incorporate.
Set french press in fridge overnight (12 hours)
Strain grounds in morning by pushing down on strainer.
When ready to drink place the following in a jar or cup:
Large handful of ice
1/2 cup cold brew coffee
1/4 cup flavored creamer of choice
1/4 cup milk
Top with whipped cream and a bamboo straw! (optional of course)
This recipe is super adaptable. If it's too strong, add more milk. If it's two sweet, add more coffee!
I am working on lowering the amount of creamer I use, but it's a slow process!
Egg Spice Blend:
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. celery salt
1 Tbsp. paprika
1 Tbsp. season salt
Orange Peel Infused Vinegar
Pack a 1 qt. mason jar with orange peels
Cover completely with vinegar
Let sit in fridge for 2 weeks
Strain liquid
Fill half a spray bottle with vinegar mixture then top off the rest of the way with water.
Spray on counter tops and other surfaces.
Wipe clean.
If you can get past that initial first smell of vinegar, this is a great natural cleaner! And FREE!

Hi there, Megan - new subscriber here - nice to meet you. My morning routine is simple. I get up the same time as you do - 6:30 am. Then it is time to take out the dogs, feed them, and the cat, after which I pray. I listen to a positive video, while eating breakfast, then it is time for my gratitude and journaling, and taking my meds. My kids are older - one teenager, one adult, both living with us, but they do their own morning routine, of course, and get themselves ready. The rest of the morning is spent cleaning up - whatever needs to be done, and then a brisk longer dog walk, which is basically my exercise routine (the only thing I can do, because I am disabled, but it works for me). And yes, you have to get a grapefruit spoon. Thanks for teaching me about a way of life, I have no clue about. I am honored to have run into your channel, and your daughter is so precious!

@@peekaboohidenseeken5722 That is not true. Sure, they can survive in a small bowl better than other fish and it's convenient not having to buy a big fish tank just for a beta fish, but that does not make it right nor ethical. Better option would be not buying a beta fish at all.

My father recently bought a house in a small town in Indiana that has a large population of mixture of Mennonite, Amish, old order .etc and they are some of the kindest , hard working people I have ever met in my life . I love how practical your videos are . I over time have become more materialistic it seems . Within the last year I decided that really needed to change and it’s really peaceful realizing we really don’t need all this extra stuff . Your daughter drinking her milk and looking out the window is the sweetest . Thank you so much for sharing your life with us and allowing us to understand your lifestyle better . Hi Megan, First I want to say I think your beautiful, I love your unpretentiousness, your sense of humour and your grace. It's a breath of fresh air to see a woman like you on KZread. After watching some of your videos I've noticed you enjoy making DIY, trying natural things and in this video you say your skin in dry and that you can't live without chapstick! So I wanted to share two DIY recipes I started making over 4 years ago and absolutely love. One is for a facial serum (safe for acne prone skin and super moisturising) and the other is a balm that can be used in place of chapstick and also for dry hands and feet, my hands are super dry and this is the only thing that actually hydrates them thanks to the beeswax. Both recipes are super easy to make and they last me a very long time so although buying all the ingredients at first might seem pricey, in the long run I save money. I buy all my ingredients at Mountain Rose Herbs because I love their company, products and prices. The only thing I buy in Amazon is the Frankincense essential oil because it is a much better price. The brand I use if Prime Natural. So for the Facial Serum: in a 2 ounce amber glass bottle with treatment pump (I also get them at Mountain Rose Herbs) fill it two thirds of the way with pumpkin seed oil and the other one third of the way with tamanu oil (this last oil is what makes it extra moisturising and its great for wrinkles!) and 15 drops of frankincense essential oil. Close the bottle, shake and it's ready. Super simple. I use this after my shower every morning, or every time I wash my face. It lasts me about six months if I use once a day. For the balm: 2 ounces of cacao butter + 1 ounce of coconut oil + 1.5 ounces of beeswax. Melt everything in a double boiler and then pour in a tin or a 4oz glass jar. Let cool (I put in in the freezer so it cools faster) and then it's ready to use. It will have the consistency of a Chapstick, so I get some with the back of my nail and when I rub it in my hands it melts with the heat of the skin. The beeswax is what makes it extra moisturising and also is what makes it stable when its too hot outside, other wise it would melt, so depending on the season you might want to use more or less beeswax. A little less in winter so it's not super hard and a little more in summer so it doesn't melt if you keep it in your purse in the car in a hot summer day, you know what I mean? I live in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil so since we don't have extreme seasons this recipe works well year-round. Any way, I just wanted to share this info in case you or any one else might find it useful. Thanks for reading. Have a lovely day.

I just found your channel through a video you posted on a Facebook group that I'm part of. Until this past January, my schedule was very much like yours... even letting/ making😉 my husband make not only his breakfast, but also pack his lunch. Our lives changed drastically at that point, and now my current schedule is getting up at 5:15 M-F, drinking a glass of water, exercising, getting dressed/ combed/ making the bed, devotions, and trying to get breakfast ready by 7. I try to stay focused on work in the morning, but in the afternoon I sometimes do 30 minutes work, 15 minutes play/ fun work (like sewing) and repeat until it's time to make supper or my son gets up from his nap. Well, I guess you only asked for the first thing I do after getting up...😆 your videos have definitely inspired me to do better at keeping my house clean and exercising... you're so fit! Thanks for giving us a window into your life and for sharing the difficult times too.

I miss when my babies were younger. I didn’t get to spend as much Morning time with them bc I worked so it was always a hurry up and get going through the week but my evenings and weekends where always cherished! Megan, I love your videos and your little girl is absolutely gorgeous. Believe it or not I listen to your videos not only because I like them, but when I'm having a rough day your voice is very calming and soothing to me. Your gentlest is amazing. When I wake up in the morning the first thing I do is take my dog Bonnie out for a nice walk and we go to the dog park right next to my home. Bonnie gets her morning workout then we go in and I eat breakfast almost always Irish oatmeal with cinnamon. Then I read my daily devotional and some scripture. I journal for a bit and now being physically and spiritually fed I'm ready to face the world. I'm a widow and live alone so the day just flows through. I get up at 5:30. At noon I go to church for daily mass. I volunteer in the NICU as a baby rocker. I just love being with the babies and giving them love and snuggles. I talk to them, sing to them and most importantly I lay my hand on their heads and pray for them. I am alone so I try to give back as much love as I have been given in my life.

Love your video! I have two toddlers and usually get up around 7:30. I do my Bible app first, get dressed, wake up the kids and dress them. Then I make breakfast, we eat, and then it's playtime! Usually, I clean up while they are in the play room. Afterwards, we go for a walk if the weather is nice. That's usually my morning! I'm gonna try that orange vinegar spray! We have oranges all the time! Thanks so much for this!

Hi Meghan, Good Morning, well right now Good Afternoon. just got home from work. Love the robe, so lovely. Wouldn't judge you for not getting up, I think he is considerate of you, an expecting mom needs the extra rest. The pj's on your Daughter is quite cute actually. Love your home and the ship lap back splash. I use to gouge my grapefruit, love the idea of ham with eggs. Thank you for sharing and yes, please let us know where you got the robe.

I have bad insomnia so, I’m usually up all night and wake my kids up at 5 to get ready for school. By the time they leave and I get settled, it’s about 8 and I sleep until 12 or 1. I’m no longer Christian so I don’t read any devotional readings (but I respect your and anybody else’s belief to do so). My thing I do when I first get up is wash up, uncover my birds and greet them “good morning”, and then start my day. I play with the birds for a while until they settle down and are ready to eat. Everyday is different for me. I also volunteer for my kid’s’ school activities and volunteer with other groups. You have a new subscriber! 😊

Oh to have a set morning routine 😁 Well I usually start my day with plan a but have a plan b and c if I have too. Health problems from a car accident years ago...any way if I don't have a migraine, I am usually off and running and happy. If I do have migraines to deal with, every thing has to be put off while I medicate, nest and be in a dark dark room for 3to7 days... I am thankful for my tablet and you tube. Your posts make me smile. I remember when my kids were that little...hard work but GOOD WORK! 😁

Hi love your video. For 12 years I wake up with my husband every single day when I’m not sick. Making his breakfast Monday through Friday Saturday is his time to serve me. 😂 . Sunday we do together so we don’t be later for church in the morning. And the first thing that I try to do when I wake up is hugging kiss my husband. And I do my devotional after his go to work. You have a beautiful family may the Lord bless y’all.

For all those who were outraged that the hubby left a dirty frying pan, if my husband gets up at 5am and has to be at work at 6am while I sleep in, check things on my phone and laptop till 8am and spend a leisurely hour and a half eating, getting dressed, getting my child dressed (she did say she's usually done by 9:30) I think that while I was washing my own frying pan I could probably squeeze in time to wash one more......just saying...to each their own.....

I have grapefruit spoons and a grapefruit knife. I prefer the knife where I cut it into sections before sitting down. With the spoon, it usually works well, but sometimes it causes the grapefruit to squirt me in the face, or worse, in my eye!

I also do not get up with my hubby as he's up about 4:30 am. I find it helpful to set the coffee timer so he will have hot coffee in the morning and I pack him breakfast and lunch (I meal prep all our meals and he only needs to heat it up in the microwave at work or at home, as he telecommutes a few days a week). I have kids from age 28 to 10 and I need to stay ahead on things or it goes south fast! I highly recommend meal prepping as it saves so much time and effort - especially when you're pregnant or nursing or just busy. I'm grateful to see an uploader that values modesty and our mennonite lifestyle as it's shedding light on our community and it's refreshing. I'm seeing folks more educated and it's nice to not have to constantly explain how we are different from Amish! Thanks for being that wonderful example and unapologetically moral and ethical.

No you're not the only one who cuts grapefruit, my dad taught me to cut it like that when I was a little girl. You seem to be a very happy young woman enjoying your time in the morning, I usually get up around 8am. I promised myself when I retired, I would allow myself to sleep in because I'd have to get up at 5am. Only trouble is now my cats and dog want me to get up sometimes I do other times I lie there and relax, I only have a fur family, so I do need to still consider their needs too, so we get up and go for a walk if my mobility issues aren't too restrictive. Thank you for sharing your morning. Cheers!

I use the Olive Tree Bible App, but only when I am away from my Bible. I still like to hold the book of the Bible in my hands when I am doing readings/devotionals. The very first thing I do, is put on my glasses when I get out of bed...can't see clearly without them!
