Jill, we were taught when living in Europe to put the stainless steel pitcher in the freezer. When you want to froth the milk... take the pitcher out of the freezer, add milk, froth, add the frothed milk to your coffee, rinse pitcher, and place it back in the freezer until next time. Supposedly, your milk froths with a larger amount of thick foam. Nice espresso machine!!!

I have worked at my Starbucks store for 6.5 years now since I was 16 years old and I’m 23 now, there is absolutely something so special about the calming, yet bustling atmosphere a coffee shop can provide while also delivering a quality, heartwarming cup of coffee at the same time. Cheers to anyone drinking a coffee right now🌞☕️

You can use a french press coffee maker to foam up milk into whipped cream almost. You only put like 1/2 a cup of milk in there and then push the plunger net thing up and down through the milk and it will foam it up for you to have that on your homemade coffee. It's pretty nice.

Bless you Jill, this was a sweet tutorial. I laughed when you shared about your latte art experience. When I first was training to be a barista, my art was so x-rated that I wasn't allowed on the bar for over a year. 😄 I still cannot make rosettes, but now I can make a quetzel bird. Practice is what will help along with that course and soon enough you will be a barista artist. Some people can only do rosettes and others hearts. So it will be cool to see what gifting you have. ☕

For making art, it is best to pour the milk from a bit higher, as it mixes the coffee and the milk a bit and then you have to move fast to make your design, when you getting close to the brim. It does take some time to get the movement into your wrist. Lightning bolts are the easiest to start with, and then hearts. Maybe look at some baristas doing the movement, and practice. I am not sure, if you have an americano if it is as good for making designs, but I have never tried it. I do think the crema (that honey colored layer on top) also is important for the design, and if you put water in after, I think it will desolve. I haven't worked at a coffee bar in at least10 years, but I think I still would have hearts and trees in my muscle memory still ;) I was never good at making elaborate designs, but I think most people could learn hearts, trees, and the little lightning bolt (probably the easiest of all designs).

Hi Jill! This was fun to watch. I love a good latte! I have a stovetop expresso maker by Grosche that makes espresso in about 10 minutes, and there is enough, for me anyway, to make several large iced lattes. I do usually purchase ground coffee, but do enjoy fresh ground, too. Thank you so much for sharing!

I have a Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus Coffee Espresso Machine in Rose (most people order the stainless steel) which uses Nespresso traditional aluminum pods, which I order directly from Nespresso with free shipping and, more importantly free recycling of the pods. It’s totally automatic has preset settings (customizable for every one) - and my cafe latte with almond mild or oat milk is done in about 90 seconds as it is ready in about 7 seconds. Current cost on Amazon is $599. I bought it last year for distance teaching and it has paid for itself. Pods average about 60 cents and make single or double. Well worth it. I haven’t been to a Starbucks since. Saved a fortune already.
