Former Mormon fundamentalist here now Christian. Recently shared my story with a Mormon and he sent me a video of the guy who debates Joseph Smith never lived Polygamy. He claims that D&C 132 is falsely attributed to Joseph Smith after his death and that it’s Brigham Young’s fault Mormons ever lived Polygamy in the first place. People in his camp also try to dismiss every journal account of people claiming Joseph Smith ever lived it before his death because of some kind of insurrection going in the LDS church at the time. The problem with this theory is that the Nauvoo expositor (a local newspaper) had 3 signed affidavits of people who were in high standing at one point in the LDS church but opposed Joseph Smiths practice of polygamy and were trying to expose him for this. This paper was written just before Joseph Smiths death. In the affidavits, they describe a revelation that was introduced to them by the Smiths and what it said, it describes perfectly D&C section 132, in much shorter words. If it were a court of law, whether or not to convict Joseph Smith these affidavits would be strong evidence against him. The other part of his theory that doesn’t stand up to scrutiny is that Brigham Young was not friends with these people and he wasn’t anywhere near Nauvoo when the paper was published. He was off campaigning for Joseph Smiths presidency. He was in Boston at the time when all this was going down and Joseph Smith was killed. Both Joseph’s enemy’s and close friends and all the wives said he lived it.

Brigham and Parley Pratt wrote private letters with plans to return home early to their wives from the campaign and lied about it publicly. They knew months in advance about the murders

thanks for commenting, I hope you know you could've gone from Mormon Fundamentalist to Mormon. The internet is unkind and stretches the smallest problems (polygamy) into out of proportion issues.

What's to debate?! There has been, and is, and always will be ONE God (humans are humans and will never become gods)! God NEVER allowed polygamy (Satan did)! The example of God creating Adam and then Eve (as a companion) - is a sign in itself that God intended man to have one and only one wife! Polygamy was actually the underlying factor in Joseph Smith's death. How? Due to the fact that the birth rates of baby boys, in comparison to the birth rates of baby girls is closer to 50/50 - with the actual birth rates skewed just a bit higher for the number of baby girls - will result in there not being enough women for men to have multiple wives. Hence, there will be a shortage of women for many of the younger men. That's why the FLDS expel many young men from their communities. As a result, Joseph Smith introduced polyandry. The owner of the Nauvoo Expositor was against polyandry and published his anti-polyandry views and this angered Joseph Smith. Smith was involved destroying the printing presses of the local newspaper. Since destroying the printing presses interfered with the U.S. Constitution - Smith was ultimately arrested! And then the angry mob (probably Mormon's against polyandry?) murdered Joseph Smith.

When you realize the whole mormon movement is just as fraudulent as most other religious movements if not all, every contradictory issue within the LDS church makes perfect sense. Including the ones being discussed here in this ?debate?

Most religions are not fraudulent the way mormonism is
