The few times I ever see Craig get uncomfortable and awkwardly quiet (besides the awkward pause), is when people genuinely compliment him for his talent. He gets so uncomfortable he looks like he wants to try to deflect the conversation to a different direction. Craig is definitely a humble guy.

I think Craig always tries to bring a light, funny touch to everything throughout the show. When someone compliments him, there's not much he can say to create a joke out of it. I think he acts like that because simply saying thank you is not funny enough. He also knows that boasting on his own show has absolutely no meaning. Accepting compliments surely is not funny and it's the opposite of his usual self-deprecating humor. I'm not saying he's not humble. But, there's not much more he could do in that situation apart from trying to deflect the conversation, humorously-wise. That's how I interpret his reaction.

50:35 Morgan is already fully in love with the show, it's so great to see that. Morgan rightfully remarked to Craig that "nobody else does it". Aside from the opening monologue and guest introductions, Craig ran the show without prompter lingo, without cue cards, and without notes in front of him telling him what he's supposed to talk about, and nobody else does that in late night TV. If you watched Colbert, Letterman, Kimmel, Conan, Fallon, Meyers, Leno, Kilborn - they ALL did/do that. He sometimes briefly touches on talking points but otherwise just has real conversations with people, and it was an amazing run. I miss this show so much, and Craig still remains criminally underrated and underappreciated.

When Morgan realizes he could say "fuck", that's when he knew this was a different show. The very next time he came, he already had a different way of presenting himself and slowly he starts to understand this genius art form only Craig does, free flow conversation with improv comedy snucked in every few minutes with anyone. You can be a millionaire A-list celeb or a random guest who couldn't get a seat for The Price Is Right, it's the same treatment from Craig. Halfway through this video, Morgan and Craig definitely became friends and I'd say maybe he even watched the show and truly understood it's concept, Craig's silly unique humor and knows why he has to do it again and again until it's no more. And that's why, Morgan Freeman, who is one of the best actors ever kept coming back. He could have easily said no to his agents but he didn't. That made him more likeable for me. Yes it's not hard coz its Morgan fuckin Freeman but anyone who does this show more than 5 times is cool to me. 10 times, you're a fan of this show and I honestly think Morgan is. Balls and careful Icarus.

  • @RomTheVacuumedSpider

@@brendasears8668 the Jimmys only work to cater to the narcissistic tendencies of celebrities, research and forethought in going to their managers and regurgitating the same boring stories they cook up to promote this “image” into people’s heads. It all boils down to more acting. Craig throws them off by actually talking to the person, not the image. RDJr’s appearance is another good example of this. I think some celebrities would be uncomfortable with the format of the show, the less down-to-earth and more jaded they are. Morgan Freeman is the exact opposite of this kind of celebrity, that being obvious by the amount of appearances he’s made, and how much he enjoys talking about the things that are REALLY going on in his life. Craig’s interviews are the best PR one could ask for, by humanizing what the population tends to view as an object. I will die on this hill. We lost the best talk show/interview show on television and I’m really sad about it.

@@RomTheVacuumedSpider I think one of the big dividers sometimes is "British vs American" talk shows where British are generally more unscripted and loose, versus American ones are a lot more rigid and filled with segments and games (non-jimmys who are guilty of this: Leno, Conan, Ellen, Arsenio). It makes sense that Craig's show is so loose then. A couple of American talk show hosts that i think did really good with interviews were probably Jon Stewart and Dick Cavett, but those are probably the only two I could think of off the top of my head.

He had a town car waiting for him un the parking lot the while flight. He is exactly as he us here. Jovial. Funny, and the center of each conversation un the room. We shared a flight instructor, who shared that he was the best student he had. I truly dig this dude

I get such a kick out of Josh's dead on impression of Morgan Freeman and then watching Morgan's reaction is priceless. Watching Craig yank his chains is priceless and Morgan just flowed into it as each appearance progressed.

I find it funny that when I worked nights I would see Craig on the TV and thought he was a loon. He had a robot cohost, a horse; I just put my headphones in and play my 3DS. Now on day shift on my breaks I have my headphones in watching Craig Ferguson compilations because he's a fucking good host. He actually talks with his guests, just talks with them and we just get to watch two interesting people discuss things.

Craig was underpaid, overworked, not supported by CBS, yet he brilliantly deconstructed the late night format. When you see Colbert walk off camera for a moment or "play" with the camera, that's Craig's influence. But there is no one, no one like Craig who did it faster, smarter, funnier or more genuine. So glad he's here for others to discover. Sorely missed. Deeply grateful.

Honestly people keep wanting Craig to come back but I'm just thinking, of how many people this man gets to spend time with now who genuinely have rapport with him. He's loaded, and now he gets to have these talks in the their own company and I mean -- I miss him, and I wish I could have been somebody and known him too, but even all of this isn't shit next to being able to just spend time with your friends and living the life.

Craig is the only Late Night host to really, really understand his guests. His humor is just spot on. When at 11:35, he asks, "Were you scared? Were you crying?...... Were you crying???", and he then pats Morgan Freeman on his shoulder to comfort him, I COULDN'T STOP LAUGHING!!! Nobody could honestly do that without having some trepidation and Craig is as comfortable as can be. It's these moments he has with guests that make him so enduring.
