Masters of comedy. Such legends. It is so sad that we have no comedians of this calibre today...

Now there's a novelty! Never better than Eric and Ernie. And Nina too. Bless them all. ❤👍

By the way Ernie is desperately trying not to laugh you can be sure Eric is ad-libbing once again and has done things that were never rehearsed. Eric was notorious for doing that. They really were the best comedy duo ever. RIP Eric & Ernie !

Actually the opposite - all their ad-libs were tightly scripted and thoroughly rehearsed. They were consummate professionals. Absolutely brilliant.

Nina van Pallandt was a great Danish singer. She was half of the 60's folk duo Nina & Frederik. At time of posting January 2022 Nina van Pallandt is age 89 years. She will be 90 in July. I loved her singing in the 1960s. Great lady.

What a joy to see laughter from the best entertainers. I miss them and their laughter was so catching that even Nina couldn’t keep a straight face. Unrehearsed comedy is the best and they were simply the best. RIP there must be laughter somewhere beyond the great beyond. I loved both of you dear souls. ❤

Agreed. Also think that Andre Previn, Glenda Jackson and Shirley Bassey had the same problem!

Best comedy double act ever plus the lovely Nina, brilliant!

They were brilliant. Love how Nina is cracking up just as much as the audience.

At one point I was definitely over doing it hahahahahahahahahahahna. Im the same been on a bit of a run lately with this pair and its pure Gold.......I loved how Eric called some delightful lady guests Fella or Son creased me up.

I've never seen that one before and I couldn't stop laughing. Eric and Ernie were a pair of geniuses cleverly disguised as idiots. I still miss them.

I agree. Morecambe and Wise were the best of the best. Sadly there's nobody else out there today that can come close to their talent. The 70's was the golden age of British comedy. Kenny Everett, Dick Emery, Morecambe and Wise. So much better than the Reality dross we get all over our television screens these days.

Absolutely, the 70’s cannot be matched for comedic talent. The Two Ronnies were brilliant as well and do you remember The Comedians and the Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club (affiliated lol)? A golden age for comedy that will never be beaten

As probably one of the people who could be considered a 'much younger' person of 21 years old. I bloody love Eric and Ernie, fantastic double act of comedians.

Brilliant, sitting here with tears streamimg down my face. God, they were good.

At the end of this, you kind of get the feeling that Ernie didn't know what sound effects Eric was going to be using when he started shaking his various body parts. Classic comedy from a golden age.

Wonderful comedy with brilliant timing and a tearjerking laugh in every line. Great times. Jofus

Such a simple creative idea. Brilliantly executed by possibly the best comedy duo on British TV.

Doubt they will ever be bettered. Script writing and comedic ability to this level sadly does not exist anymore.

How that girl can be expected to sing a song next to these two is beyond me. I doubt if anyone could Comic geniuses at work

I loved Nina van Pallandt's songs with her one time husband, Frederik. She is so natural & sporting in this clip, especially her spontaneous giggles & laughs.

Celebs use to line up to appear on their show!!! It was one of Sir Roger’s few regrets that he’d never appeared with Morecambe and Wise. He eagerly joined the cast of the stage homage, with Toby Jones, called The Play What I Wrote.

I suppose you had to be born into this era to appreciate them and I was.. Absolutely pure genius , America had Laurel & Hardy and we had Eric & Ernie. The Kings are dead, long live the Kings...

America had Laurel and Hardy but Stan Laurel was British and wrote every thing they appeared in so we can claim Laurel and Hardy as well, they are my favourite comic duo then its Morecambe and wise, the two ronnies, steptoe and son, cannon and ball, norman wisdom, tommy cooper, kenny everett and not forgetting all the carry on films, i am so glad i grew up with all of that

@degsy96 i was not born into that era as i am only 12 years old but i love them like anyone who grew up with them! I nearly know more about Laurel & Hardy than my dad and I have watched all the old comedies: Morecambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies, Laurel & Hardy, Steptoe and Son, Norman Wisdom, Dad's Army, Porridge, Open All Hours, On The Buses and SO MANY more :D x

they dont make shows like this today.... mores the pity. ive been crying my eyes out with laughter over this sketch, while my much younger co-worker keeps giving me evil looks and calling me a sad old git. oh how i wish i could take him back in time and let him see what he missed that we havent got now..... true legends old m&w. god rest your funny old sole dear eric............!!!

funny stuff, morecambe was a funny man, he said so himself. great gags that stand the test of time, they were having a blast and it transferred to the audience.

Nina is brilliant corpsing throughout, and Eric sounds like he's vomiting. Comedy excellence.

I still get a good laugh too many years after posting this one. One of the best sketches they ever did and not often seen in their many repeats

I remember Nina and Frederick in the 1960s.. Never noticed before how attractive she was

After all these years,they were the funniest most enjoyable duo ,but !Eric was the one that was the one that made it work💯

Orange and brown suits and scenery, lady dressed as a chocolate lime - it doesn't get any more 1970s than this.

georgeclark96 what about Reeves and Mortimer ? Are they a sort of tribute to these chaps or do they try to be original - i dont understand comedy sometimes . Phil Cool was funny but disappeared or is it all down to knowing the right people still ? Its wierd when comics just spout others' writing / ideas . Love from the humourless new forest where everybody takes everything too seriously 😎

Eddie Braben made them so much better. Genius.

It seems that Lancashire produced many of the great British comedians: Stan Laurel, George Formby, Gracie Fields and of course Eric.

They were funny in black and white, they were funny in technicolour and they're still incredibly funny on digital and blu-ray! Just a brilliant combination of friendship, talent and great writers!

M&W said in one of their biographies they had a little secret.. their guests were always on the edge of cracking up so they avoided looking them in the eye. You'll see throughout this sketch Eric repeatedly makes direct eye contact with Nina which opens the flood gates of laughter. Right from the first "Hold it son..."

Well done your dad, true comedians who could always make you laugh.

OK internet, I need your help. I used to watch the occasional bit of Morecambe and Wise with my dad when I was a kid (I'm 27 so it wasn't exactly a huge part of my life but I've always loved watching them). I'm trying to find a specific sketch but I can't remember much of it and I'm not even sure if I have it all right anyway. So the bits that have stayed in my head are a woman and Eric in some sort of flat, possibly in a living room. They are flirting but then Ernie comes in so Eric has to hide. This happens multiple times but the final time Eric runs out of places to hide, so drops to the floor and pretends to be a rug. It had me in absolute tears of laughter but I just can't seem to find it anywhere. If anyone has a clue what I'm talking about please let me know!

We shall never see their like again. It was a golden age of comedy, Morecambe and Wise were the pinnacle and sadly today there's little to laugh out loud about,. . "Comedy" on TV today? I'll go and watch the paint on the door dry- it's a lot more entertaining.

I quite agree Stephen. The nearest to being naturally funny these days is Lee Mack, but the rest of the so called comedians cannot touch M&W. A shame indeed.

Morecombe and Wise sadly missed double act and I doubt I will see the like again in my life time only the Two Ronnies where just as good and very funny they knew how to make people laugh.

They were specially designed props, not to make any sound, with the sound effects performed off screen by an engineer during taping.

good taste isn't restricted by your age. the only restriction is if you find something funny, or clever, or if you don't. old style comedians like M&W and Tommy Cooper rehearsed for hours to make it look this random but natural at same time... lol.
