8,500 is probably used as a statement, for evacuation, and information gathering. After an attack, the West will need to respond and whit a few thousand troops on the ground it will be easier to make the right decisions.

Russia president putin issued a letter to EU threaten to cut energy trade, Europe in the end made concession to refinance Ukraine energy companies debt and assuring the company would make payment to Russia's Gazprom. Currently, Russia has the edge because Europe have increase natural gas imports from russia from 30 percent to 47 percent, highest level in history. At the same time, EU imports 30 percent oil and 40 percent solid fuels from russia. Any conflict with ukraine would result of russia cut energy trade which will harm EU economy and causing energy shortages.

You'll hear about it and then footage of thousands of surrendered Ukranians will pop out as well as some show of force by Russia like for Crimea. Either that or alot of explosions but with extreme precision. Russia practice well in Syria with Drones and precision strikes. They can easily cleat trenches as well with thermobaric multiple launchers. Putin wants to make them a protectorate, not destroy the little left to rescue. Ukraine dearly needs Russia after being played by NATO for so many years. Corruption is still way too high to establish a solid elite willing to side with the West 100%.

A lot of propaganda on both sides. Russia doesn’t need another possibility of a NATO country at its borders in their eyes. Ukraine was supposed to remain neutral after giving up their nuke program. To some Russians, it was a civil war that happened in Ukraine in 2014. It had a corrupt president who was forming stronger ties with Russia that half didn’t like, so they revolted. The president asked for aid from Russia before fleeing. Russia obliged. It’s a power play for our president. We keep Ukraine safe, we have another ally plus resources. It is also a power play for us against Russia. One big bluff. It just takes one idiot to throw the first punch. Russia has a lot of pride. They won’t be the ones to say they started WW3. They will do their best to force the hands of the US by using Ukraine as a prop. The Budapest Memorandum was an agreement for security for Ukraine that didn’t end up happening. All of this tension was a long time coming. With such a weak president it just made it easier. I hope Biden can keep up with his bluff and not react in an idiotic way.

And we show our guys training too, that doesn't mean anything at all. There has been a lot of talk about nothing regarding Ukraine in the past month or so. So far, the US and NATO have stated they will not directly defend Ukraine from Russia, but they resolved to sanction the Russians if they Invade, and they have not decided what they will do exactly if it is a limited attack. There has been no agreement with Russia yet, but they are working on that. That is all we know for sure. Everything else has been a lot of threats, mudslinging and insults between governments, made more tense by the media hype on both sides. Yes war is awful, but there is no sign that Putin will actually invade. 100,000 soldiers is an awfully small force to try to take all of Ukraine. And why does the video title say 10,000? Maybe they all left yesterday and only ABC news knows!

Agreed, Putin knows what he's doing as he's a master tactician and knows the US's limitations. He's looking to get something for nothing right now(concessions). But once the Olympics is over I wouldn't be surprised if he invades Ukraine up to Kiev as they'd see little resistance because of the open terrain. As well as using Crimea to secure more territory along the Black Sea. Wouldn't be surprised if Putin's worked something out with China so they can attack Taiwan at the same time. Putting the US in a two front War and don't see their allies offering any legit troop support. But doubt he tries to take all of Ukraine as it won't be worth all of the casualties needed to take it.
