Hi Pam, I’m so sorry for your loss, I’ve lost so many pet rats over the years.. it’s so sad! ❤️ I’d definitely put the rats in a room with no candles, fragrance sprays and other things that can give them R.I, you have some beautiful rats I wouldn’t want them getting sick 😘 P.S your cage looks so good! 😍

Not sure if you know this, but burning candles around rats is not reccomended due to the release of smoke and ash into the air. It can harm their delicate respiratory systems 😊

@@kukuucka I don't disagree with you, in the video you can tell poor daryl is struggling to breathe 😔 as a rescuer, I have more success explaining the smoke and ash being harmful than scents so I tend to just go with that

The towel in the basket.. be very careful with the threads that come loose. They can wrap around toes. I've had it happen before. Congratulations on all the new little guys. So sorry for the loss of Daryl.

Was so very devastated to hear about Darryl, especially after you had finally decided to get some more (I know Charlie and Jake will be right by your side smiling, now with little Darryl in the middle). I’m really glad he gave you one last ‘good day’ before he passed, so many Animals I’ve worked with tend to do this as their last gift to us ♥️ So so glad to see this video because I knew you wanted at least 3 Ratties and now you have 4, soon to be 6! So very happy for you, give my love to all your little babies. I’m sending over loads for you too ♥️

what I found was best with the tubes was to make sure they couldn’t lay down in it, when I had with horizontal sections they would sleep in there, thus peeing and pooping everywhere. Now that it’s got basically no spots for them to lay down and sleep in it they don’t really pee and poo in it anymore!

Now Daryl is with Jake and Charlie. May they rest in peace. Do sorry for your loss. I know what your going through. My sweet hamster dumbo passed yesterday. 😭

Those tubes are a nightmare to clean! I let my hamsters have them sometimes as neither of them "go" in there but my mice...nope lol. Poop galore in there >.< But my method when one does need a clean is to stretch it out and empty everything into a bin(trash) bag and then hold it under the shower to rinse out the inside.

The litter tray needs to be fairly big and if you put a smooth Rock in there it's encouraging them to use it to potty

Don't take their tube! Leave it free from the cage wall. When they poop move the poops to the litter box. Be CONSISTENT about it. They will eventually work out that is where poop goes

I'm sorry about Darly 💓 I'm sure he loved the time he spend with you and your family. It's also seeet that your boyfriend helps you assemble stuff for the cats and likes them 🐀 Your rats are so precious and I love how you decorated their house. My hamster used to had a plastic tube/tunnel thing in her old cage that connected to a nesting tub but overtime it collected poop and pee and was hard to clean.

Also pick up poops and place in the litter box. I've had luck with potty training my rats in the past.

You could use bolts nuts and washers to connect the tube (the connector for the lava ledge) then you could disconnect it easily

my rats used to poop all in the corner, so I moved their litter box to that corner, now they poop all in there! I also know that my girls like to pee on smooth rocks, although Im not sure if its the same for males. but the get them to pee in the box I put some rocks made for a fish tank on top of the grate of the litter box! hope this helps, I just found your channel and its so interesting to watch your journey with your ratties so early on, I hope all continues to go well!

Hi I really hope this is not seen as rude.... I read a fea comments but I did not see anyone mention it. Keeping rats next to candles and or lighting them near them could add to stress issues and breathing problems. I am so sorry for daryl but i know the other new ratties are in good hands with you. How about bolts on the tube then it can still be attached but also easy to removed

I had one of those tubes for my girls. BIGGEST PAIN IN THE BUTT they would poop and pee all the time. Litter training them helped but I eventually gave up and took the tube away
