One thing that has made my defending jump to the next level is partial press. I’m no longer worried abt crosses or sweats down the wing because with a quick double tap of R1 my defenders instantly mark everyone in the box

@@Hvmoudi its called a partial press, when u double tap and then hold R1, ur player indicator turns blue and a few players near u quickly run to mark a player closest to them.

its incredible how much of a game changer minimising the usage of the sprint button is ive gone from tons of possesion but creating barely any chances and losing games 4-0 etc. to having tons of possesion and being clinical with my chances and currently on a 4 game win streak. wow something so simple is amazing. thank you this channel is also a game changer for me i''ll def have to check out the patreon eventually

These are very relevant tips! That's what took me from frustratingly losing to inferior players with rat tactics to winning more and actually having more fun with more varied playing style. I wasted so many weeks trying to find the players and the tactics that would fix everything when, while helping a lot, tactics and cards don't matter if you don't play it right. On top of those tips I'd add having conscious, possession protective first touches (i.e., get the ball away from the marking opponent when receiving a pass), not dribbling into defenders unless you can afford the risk of losing the ball (winning/in safe areas of the pitch) and, above all, playing with a team and not a player - that is, not even Mbappé can just overpower defenses if he's clashing into defenders by himself... so hold the ball and make sure you give your team the time to attack positions and offer alternatives. And to give due credit, most of those I learned watching this channel 🙂

I play w balance defence tactics and haven’t had any issue I get rank 3/4, it’s OP but u can counter it. Fifa 23 is the best fifa in a while the game isn’t in the “mud”

Now I finally understand why so many people complain about the game being broken. They simply don't understand the game mechanics and think the game should be played how they expect it to be which ends up in the player getting frustrated even more. Thanks to Neal for videos like these and reinvigorating the interest of people to play this game again.

can you make video about actually tackling and taking away the ball? it seems i get into games where oponents are able to get 90% of the balls by just wlaking into me.... no really they just b line to me and even if i am backwards they take the ball

I’m division one but the way you defend is like you don’t have control of the player when you press B if that makes sense lol

Hi! I hope im not stating the obvious but for me the key to combatting that is getting familiar with your pitch map at the bottom, this way even under pressure you know where your next pass can be (usually a switch after drawing them in) without the rage of your camera angle messing you up. Something i've done to help me is go into the setting and make it so that my players are always green on the map and the person im against is always red.

Funny how everyone says that we shouldn’t sprint a lot and yet there are these players with haaland etc who just give the ball to the and burst through the whole pitch unstoppably

It's just delayed I think. Just go with player lock so you select the right player. Player lock allows you to controll the run yourself

Its easy to say " dont make a risky pass in your own half " but what happens when your opponent is in constant pressure ? The game is utterly broken with this feature they really should nerf it

@@basedbased3632 we do use X, but i see opponents activate the semi team press at the same time and that marks your attackers. It isnt like arent doing this. The pressing is too effective.

@@RacerZen no its not lmao do you even have tactics to counter it. Just get people wide and go through your full backs, past weekend league I only lost 1 goal through a press and that was a simple mistake. The reason its so effective is most people refuse to change their playstyle, like just hoofing gks up the pitch instead of tryna play oit the back

Pass back to your keeper and recycle the ball, if they pressed u their wingers or full backs will be out of position u can quickly cross to them

This is useless if u have 40-50ms ping in game....😔😔

im in a weird position where i am now so damn good at defending in fifa 23 but i lose the ball very easily at the same time, especially when doing counter attack.

It’s way easier to improve defending than attacking in this game. Honestly ai defenders if they are good players are “auto defend”. Attacking against good players is harder

I like the advice but sometimes when times is hard its almost impossible to stay in possession on your own half when there team is pressing like crazy and for some reason all of your players run up the field so you have no one to pass to

The best advice I can give you, and it took a lot of time to master, is controlling the ball with L1, take your first touch away, and then play ONLY safe passes until you find that gap in the midfield. I know it’s not much, but think about all the times you may try to force a 60/40 or 70/30 pass chance, when you can use your dribble to hold the ball and make a 100% chance pass

I haven't played in a while over 3 wks i got to div 4 but lost interest because the game is no longer interesting, everyone is constant pressing and all. Game is boring most players have zero football iq knowledge.
