Sue the realtors. They should have told her.

I am a board member this is the first thing I tell potential buyers to check with the owner who will be taking care of any assessment… it is up to them or their realtors to negotiate but at the end someone needs to pay … the owner must have known so either they purposely did not say anything or like many he never read his emails, letters or went to the meetings 🙄 whenever there is an assessment there is a need to a board meeting for approval and all owners are invited to be present but it is always an excuse. Also if you see that a particular condo has many units for sale it could be of the HOA increased so deff ask…

Good points. But when I buy a house I give my Inspector specific items that I want written feedback on. Additionally I have my attorney review the home inspection contract to ensure that if something is missed I can sue

@@algernon5776when I bought my condo the inspector checked inside the condo they don’t check the outside estructure or the roof of the building, it is different than buying a house… plus this market in South FL it is more like take it S it is or leave it someone else will buy it … 🤷🏻‍♀️

What is this woman going to do?? What a price shock to now be paying so much? What do you do? I'm in a condo for nearly 50 years and my HOA has increased to $240 a month over nearly half a century. I'm in Sedona, Az. I'd be terrified to buy a home in Florida or California with these escalating prices. Why is it so much better in Arizona?

Years ago i was involved in an assessment as I lived in a Condo, and it snowed a lot in February up North . The roof was not supported correctly and there was damage and the roof needed replacing. The developer had declared BK after the complex built, and we all got a bill for $5200.

The listing agent should have a disclosure in the contract that the seller must fill out the states if they are aware of any special assessments coming if so, how much? It should also state if they are behind on any of their association payments and if so, how much When were they informed of it etc. there’s no reason why a buyer should be on the hook for past due assessments or anything else. The buyer should not be on the hook for anybody else’s association fee. I think it’s grossly unfair that any past due HOA fee is attached to the next buyer.

Me and my husband considered relocating to Florida and were looking into 50+ communities. The absence of state income tax was appealing to us but thank god we did our research into just how much it costs in fees to own a home in that state, needless to say, we ain't leaving SC

We both were born and raised in California 🌴 in the country and in different small town we had NO idea what an HOA was 😮 I became a mail carrier and one of the communities that I deliver to was HOA I heard a lot of stories and one story they tried to HIKE the HOA I just did not like the surprises and there rules on what color you can paint your house or you have to many cars ! So when we started looking to buy a house we told the realtor ABSOLUTELY NO HOA homes and we don’t trust them because they can raise the HOA at any time and you can loose your home for not paying $ your HOA fee and that is way to much POWER IN THERE HANDS life is hard enough NO HOA

Property Taxes, HOA Fees, Condo Fees, Overpriced homes, are making hard working taxpayers lose their only property (Home, Condo). How can it be legal to suddenly raise Condo fees by 40%. How can it be legal to raise HOA Fees by 50%. How can these crooked tax assessors be allowed to overvalue someone property by hundreds of thousands of dollars, when they are not investors and those homes are their only child hood homes. Many areas are becoming like Detroit and Mississippi - desolate and empty as the working class is continuously fleeced in these manners. The vile tax assessors are getting multi-year promotions using Tax Payer dollars because these tax assessors ARE Overvaluing people's properties to bring in money to the municipalities. They don't care that people end up homeless (many veterans and elderly) or their home comes into foreclosure because they had to borrow against equity and credit cards to try and pay their property taxes or HOA or Condo fees. Where are the State representatives to put a stop to this madness??!!

Every time a condo is sold, it needs to be inspected of the community property to be sure its not breaking down and that it is structurally sound. This would help the HOA(if they cared to know) to remodel and or replace the defects without charging the owners.
