We can't think of another artist whose color swatches are more worthy of consideration as art! Honestly, those alone are worth the time watching... but of course, there are so many reasons why we keep coming back! This channel is a great example of how making art can and should be a normal part of everyone's life!

I think one (of many) reasons I enjoy watching your videos is seeing how you use all you art supplies. It doesn’t feel like you have them just for the accumulation of a collection, but really put them to use!

Alright! A new Sandi Hester video!! Christmas morning in the sweet summertime. 😊
Yes! I loved this. Thank you. I love how you work in such muddy colors in such a beautiful way. I always struggle and my palettes look more like a candy land and less real. I keep wanting to do more gouache work and I just need to play like you do. Your way of working/play is so incredibly inspiring.

Color swatching is the thing I do the most in my downtime. I think when colors are in the center of your work it's not only super useful but also really enjoyable. I tend to pick 3 colors and go from one to another in pebbles. I also do what you do here, pick one color and mix it with all kinds of others. I have loose color swatches around the studio and they have been the starting point of many artworks. They also help me when I'm stuck color-wise. And yeah, super fun!
Dear Sandi, you have no idea how much I enjoy watching your videos! I discovered you not more than two months ago and every time you give me a lot! I love, love, love your art, love the way you show us how you work and how you learn...your videos are a joy for the soul, the spirit, the eyes... I am 60 and just started with art...you are a wonderful teacher! One day I will attend your classes! Greetings from Italy!

Oh my- that new boat sketch is 😍😍😍
Hey Sandi, Now you are loose with structure. It is the nearly every day work, the boats look lovely. I liked how you pushed the colours with the raw umber so quickly at the end... Harmony. A good way to work. Will try that. In kindred spirit, Eliza Dulwich Hill, Sydney Australia 25th of June 2023; 10:18pm xx
I think I'm the first to like it... I love you sandi

I am enjoying you being into watercolor now! Geeking out on your swatches! I so enjoy your paintings! I love watercolor. I have white gauche but is there any other color I need to get? haha Went to Mexico for a few weeks and made a small watercolor pallet to take as well as my inktense pencils and pens. I left my markers as I did not want to get too heavy or have things taken away in customs. I did take the white gouache and put with my makeup. I took my smaller block paper and 2 sketchbooks. I kept one in my cross body with a pen. I had so much fun!!!! Panoramic view hotel room and painting the church and plaza in my down time. Thank you for all your sharing! Got another water pen because of you to take on the trip! Thanks!

Cheap Joe's video today is great
Thank you for sharing. I was chuckling about your naked lady in the background and then you painted her suit on, but you left your husband naked after painting his facial hair. Eventually you got his pants on. Funny. Don't know why, but hearing artists talk through their process is always an eye opener, or Eureka moment for me and I can't wait to try new ways of doing things. Peace.

I discovered that i have missed a few! I'm only halfway through but i know I'll forget if i wait. I'm wondering if the kid's hat had a R-91 on it. It is something people who were at that horrible Las Vegas shooting several years ago wear. They locate each other with it. A friend was there and that little R-91 had been so healing for so many! So glad to see that you are posting process videos again! I do enjoy them!
Loved your color charts,
Very fun AND inspiring! I loved the pool paintings.

In the first pool sketch starting around 6:00, I really like how you were able to create depth by changing the size of the figures. It works so well. Great video..inspiring and informative as usual.
I adore your art, I could listen to your soothing voice ALL DAY LONG (especially today - super stressed out), I adore that you share all this with us, which is so generous of you (thank you!). I just wish this translated to me skipping outside and doing fab art too - or even inside - but the struggle(s) is real. Almost zero space to make art inside, no car to lug art materials around to interesting places, in a big city so little nature around, too shy and inexperienced to do people. But still, so inspiring that you just never know, I may break through all that ;-) PS - if you happen to read this and wonder if there isn't a local art club I could join the answer is NO! Major town, yet the only art courses are either very long, very conventional/formal & expensive courses or "boozy" drink and paint evenings. So I'm especially grateful I can at least watch your videos :-)

@@sandihester It appears that Faber-Castell may have discontinued the Translucent pack of Gellatos! I have a message out to them for confirmation. I’m very disappointed. They do sell some of the colors individually but I don’t know yet if there are any from this group available singly. A couple of months ago I bought the pack of brights but they are too bright for me. I’m trying to calm them down with a similar color stick from Crayola. Your color swatches in today’s video reminded me that I’ve not finished that experiment. They are fun to make and I do them in all of my sketch books to see the differences paper to paper. Thank you again.
I giggled at the subtitles, i know they can be insensitive sometimes when they get certain words wrong, bit this time i found it cute that they kept translating 'Posca' as 'pasta' 😂 Fabulous art and approach as always Sandi, thankyou for your videos. ❤ I get longlasting inspiration from you.

What a great video! Wonderful paintings as well! I was wondering if you ever consider the ecological impact and animal welfare when picking up art supplies? Personally, I shy away from cadmium and cobalt colours, as well as products containing animal products such as brushes made from animal hair or watercolours with ox-gall. Also, how do you dispose of your paint water? Would be great to hear your thoughts on this!

Hey Sandi, I feel the same way you do about someone blaring their music.
Peonyandparakeet has some interesting tips. Creating and labeling the markings in an abstract style painting instead of just spots...also add white...or dark complementary colors to get more value= 3 D. Then these spots and swatches can B cut /torn and used in collage as in no waste of good art U R creatively showing ... Do U teach art at Vacation Bible Schools in ur area?
