    Saw my childhood home @4:53 mark. Roof and window totally gone. Left in 1974 for canada built a new house beside it that was unscathed. My uncle lives in the old house but thank God we convinced him not to stay in it during the storm.

    I'm in East Rural St. Andrew and watching this video have me in tears...only lost 2 lime trees,2 young banana trees,a young pear tree and the top of the ackee tree however no light due to a broken JPS pole...have to continue giving thanks coz we were spared the full force of Beryl...still have to keep an eye out for more...the season still young...🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

    A category 4 hurricane passed by Jamaica just a few days ago . Let us keep the JPS workers and other essential workers in our prayers as I am sure they are 11:41 11:49 overtime to restore things to normal

    God really love Jamaica 🇯🇲 and His mercy is very much towards the Jamaican people, because other countries didn’t do that well. To still see farms still good and plenty of greens and people are alive!!! And, Jamaicans still up and running.

    I think all roofs should he built with concrete going forward. These hurricanes 🌀 will always affect 🇯🇲and with climate change it will only get worse unfortunately. Praying for all the people of 🇯🇲 1❤ see you soon just volunteered making care packages we are on our way 🇯🇲❤️

    Many Caribbean islands resident after getting their roof ripped off once have put on concrete roof. Government should provide funding to help improve the building code. Those with wooden roofs need to use hurricane proof longer nails and extra bracing or ties for the roofs.

    Thanks for the update. Seams the wooden pole do better than the concrete base on what I see the wooden pole lean down, but the concrete broke engineers should take notes

    @@mikejohnson3601 yes would be great to see updates from up there. That’s why I want the video to go from new forest through comma pen to junction. But again I wouldn’t know if it’s possible because you never know about trees and power lines blocking the roads.

    This damage from Beryl is telling us that we must shift our building culture to slab roofing or enforce hurricane coded roofs. Only problem is that in an earthquake the slab can collapse and hurt/trap those inside the house. What should we do?

    Sad to say I haven’t seen one roof that was up to code . Jamaica is in a hurricane zone not one building has a hurricane strap these buildings were on their way down most of these buildings look like abandon shacks be proactive fix these buildings properly. now everyone will be looking for handouts
