Bad News was indeed better than the totally unfunny Spinal Tap. Unfortunately, they took the joke too far and them getting a slot at Donington was a slap in the face of a real band who would have been more deserving.

That Sabbath box set is 1000% worth it.. I bought the original albums when they originally dropped, loved them then and cleaned up, the albums just explode through your speakers. The extras with the set are the icing on the cake.

Bad News is so funny. Rik Mayall is a comedy legend.

A friend in the UK turned me onto Bad News back in the late '90s. They were hilarious, but I don't think I could put them above Spinal Tap. I appreciate that the humor of Tap is more subtle and like character study, whereas Bad News is a lot broader. Funny stuff, though.

The title of the episode with Motorhead is "Bambi". This is the episode where they went to the laundrette, and went on University Challenge, where Bambi was the game show host.

The super deluxe of Synchronicity will definitely end up on sale at some point, so I’d just wait a bit

A friend of mine bought Bad News when it first came out. I had all those Black Sabbath's back in the day but sold them off in my purge years. Maybe will buy them again someday.

They did a live tour here in the UK late 1987 - I was lucky enough to be there, complete classic.

I was at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone (just after the hurricane) and they stayed behind to sign stuff. We missed our train home but as 16 year olds they were our comedy heroes, still have the signed programme. Had to convince a taxi driver to take us with the very little money we had, then she played us Dark Side of The Moon... first time I heard it.

Love the intro!!! Yeah, it is great that we got those Sabbath and I agree that Martin is good, but he was kind of between a rock and hard place. frankly, after ozzy and dio left, it's too bad tony couldn't have just gone solo with geezer. because there's so many lineup changes you'd think it was a solo project at that point.

We loved this video Frank, great job! Not sure we’ll pick up the new Black Sabbath box set. Wasn’t a fan of that era like many others, at least not visually. Tony had an amazing voice, but just didn’t “see” it like Ozzy or Ronnie. We did however preorder the Van Halen box set. Have waited it seems FOREVER for “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.” As far as “Bad News” is concerned, we hadn’t heard of them until just now. We’ll check it out, thanks for the tip!🙏🏻🎧

I have always loved the Tony Martin era, and have bought each of those albums in their original release dates. I actually enjoy the Tony Martin era more than the Ozzy era. This might be due to the fact that my introduction to Sabbath was with the Dio era in the early 80’s. The Forbidden remix is incredible. If he can do the same magic on Born Again, that would be amazing.

It is great to see someone else knows Bad News. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio and discovered the Young Ones on Mtv in the 80's. They also ran The Comic Strip Presents. The Bad News episodes were the best. Especially More Bad News! A local record store back in the day ordered that first cd for me. It is comedy gold!

I have more than one copy of Synchronicity and cringed when I saw the price of the 6 CD set!!

The poly lined inners on the vinyl version are a nice touch but if I had to be critical it's slightly disappointing that the 3 'bonus' tracks (previously available on the Jap CD versions of 3 of the original albums) were not included in the box set as a 3 track EP/maxi single. These are, however, included as bonus tracks on the CD version of the box set... I would have bought both versions anyway (as I am a self confessed completist nerd!) but I think generally the contents should be the same across both formats. I guess production costs were a factor and rightly so. Strangely in these modern times, the vinyl version was actually cheaper than the CD set!

@@Channel33RPM Totally agree Frank, I guess they opted for the softback to again minimise production costs, I suppose the record company perhaps thought the market for this set was probably going to be very niche.... a hardback book would have added value for sure.

If you want to talk VAN HALEN Frank, my favorite CD 📀 will always be their first one that was released in 1978. 📀 MEGADETH? My biggest weakness is for their CD 📀 "The World Needs a Hero" (2001) 📀.

Love those Bad News videos. Guessing that they are more funny then serious. Where it seems like Spinal Tap was meant to be serious, then funny. But the scene of them "trying" to film the video for Warriors Of Ghangis Khan is just way too much. Like the part where Colin falls off the stage ramp. Dim's attempt to "look mean" for the camera. Spider playing his drums in the car like he was Keith Moon. And of course Vim and Imogene.

Don't know if Rhino will send me a comp copy of Sabbath or VH, but they did send me the Zeppelin "Mothership" boxed set a few years ago, and now they're sending me Joni Mitchell's Asylum 1972-1975 (I'll do a separate video on that).

Hogwash, there is no better than Spinal Tap. :) I believe I saw a copy of the Bad News vinyl in a store once, but I assume the price stopped me from buying, because I would have.

After reading this comment, I realized I have not seen Royal Crown cola for years... did some Googling and it looks like the brand disappeared in Canada several years ago. I will have to look for Royal Crown cola when I am in the U.S. again, later this summer.

Was never a fan of the Tony Martin era in Sabbath. Tried to get into it but never could. Some good tracks just not enough to jump into the boxed set. Not really a VH fan so will be passing on that as well. Will try to check out that Bad News. Looks like fun. My favorite band parody has to be The Rutles from the 70's. That Monty Python influence with the cameo from George Harrison just makes it great. Neil Aspinall's songs are just dead on Beatles rip offs in the best and funniest ways.

Those super delixe always oop up on streaming services. Id love to have them but ill save the money. But i do have the bulk of those Jethro Tull hardback 40th anniversary reissues.

If you are fascinated by sibling bands, you should check out The Warning, power trio of mexican sisters that have been playing since they were children, old school rock n roll with a modern twist, and their story is very inspiring to say the least, started playing in their basement when they were 9, 12 and 14, and now they are touring the world, check them out, you won't regret it, they have a youtube channel with all their music and documentaries, they are exploding right now, so you will probably hear about them sooner or later, 💯 recommended!!!

They were good doing covers but their original stuff is not that good! Maybe if they can breakaway from their dad when the youngest graduates, they can do better stuff!

VH. I’d rather have an etching than 3 or 4 songs per side to make 4 sides. And Live W/O A Net, they should put that on vinyl

I agree. It wouldn't make sense to spread the album out over 4 sides. But... they could include the audio 'rarities' from the accompanying CD on side 4 of the record.

Liliac was good when they did covers but their original stuff just doesn’t have it! It has a soulless feel! Their dad is truly holding them back! You listen to the covers they did & you can feel the soul they put into those songs!
