I love the Anno Domini box set. I have felt like the Tony Martin era of Sabbath was so underrated. Tony is a great singer and it’s nice to see him finally getting some respect!

Definitely underrated - even forgotten about by many (previously). It;s good to see the albums are selling well and people are getting into it. Some great riffs from Iommi as well.

I preordered Anno Domini the day they announced its release. I've been keeping an eye out for this for at least 4 years now. Love it! I still haven't listened to Forbidden, but I was a fan of this era back then. I stopped though with Tyr, though I don't remember why. I loved Eternal Idol. Headless Cross is a favorite for sure. Love the box set.

I am a Judas Priest fan as well... I am proud to have a copy of the "Thanks for the words, Al!" version of Rocka Rolla! I collect records for the purpose of having the original period recordings/pressings and art... I have all the original UK releases. I would like to get to Black Sabbath in original UK releases but the cost is out of sight!

Very cool! I had a chance to pick up an original UK press of Rocka Rolla for CDN$10 about 10 years ago and stupidly passed. The store owner even called me and asked if I wanted it. I don't know what I was thinking. The oringal Sabbath pressings would be amazing to own.

@@Channel33RPM at tuesday and saturday there was a fair with lot´s and lot´s of vinyl records for sale for what today is 50cents in perfect condition some of those about 200 through the years i bought most are first pressings without knowing , but this discovered by a less than 20 years than me friend who only owns first editions but maybe 75% of them are not sounding good ,i don´t want first editions with bad sound i prefer the ones where vinyl is well kept and not listened in saphire needle turntables as it happened till the mid 80´s in Portugal, those say that cds sound better ,one listening in a shaphire needle is more than enough to destroy the perfect sound of vinyl and not many had taken care of their vinyl records other reason for them to be in bad condition, what surprises me is some german and dutch friends i have that due to their age lost interest in records or cds and only have a good 70´s amp. and speakers with a open reel deck ,either than the reels they also have spotify on their iphones conected to the amplifier ,we are talking about more than 65 years persons, they came to live in Portugal ,Sunny all year around and ofered me all their components and record colections, i have between 15.000 to 16.000 records in perfect shape since late 60´s maybe having no humidity in the air and 10 years to 10 years without rain, and never touched the grooves on a record only in my work for 35 years as a dj i had records only to that effect like glue to make loops and some scratch not like they make it today but done as it was in late 70´s and 80´s when rap music entered the danse music allthough break dance wasn´t usual in party´s or disco´s, but i do notice records i bought when new that today the brain dead of the vocalist says it wasn´t like they wantred but if diferent they wouldn´t be known today as their first album made them have a career and when listening the improved sound was horrible, i´m refering to Aqualung from jethro tull, it´s production and sound made them great if he says the album sounded bad his brain fried as if it was like the last re-re-remastering none would have bought the album ,still have the first record when released and sounds amazing even better than most of modern bands, i had a PL-43 or 51 and a P3 also a sp-1 personalized from technics in early 70´s the others are pioneers from late 60´s my first equipment

Totally agree with you about the Judas Priest, much prefer Firepower. And the Sabbath boxset like the same albums in the same order as you. Have the box set on cd and Vinyl, as the few have the 3 ( must be a load more from the sessions) bonus tracks not on originals only Japanese versions, but not in the vinyl set, could have easily put on an ep. Yes the other sets did have a hard back book. Also the few do not have the lyrics in the booklet but do in the vinyl set even though the cd one is 60 pages and Vinyl is 40 pages. But as you say just little bit picks.

When I was 17 I lost 32lbs in 21 days, I was in for a burst appendix and the hospital saw a cantaloupe size tumour in my stomach/bowels. Almost died, but I was lucky I never had to do chemo or anything just aggressive surgery. 3 weeks no food, and only IV fluids. When I was 21 I went through a breakup and I bought a bike. I went to university during the day, I’d get a 50% off breakfast burrito and a strawberry milk from the cafeteria at 11:05am take the TTC home and get off one stop early on the subway to buy a bottle of Wild Turkey, go home study until dinner which was 3pcs grilled jerk chicken and rice and salad plus a fair amount of Wild Turkey, then I’d ride my bike around downtown Toronto for 3-4 hours every night while drunk, I’d cycle until I sobered up, shower, bed. Rinse and repeat daily for a 3 months and I lost 67lbs in 90 days. Wish I had your discipline to do it the right way, congrats Frank!

I never got into 80's Sabbath. Even though my dad had the Dio albums. My neighbor had Born Again. And the only other one I heard was The Eternal Idol. But that was mostly due to Towers (or maybe it was Zellers at that point) having a whole lot of cassette copies of it for $1.99, so of course I picked one up. Was alright, but I haven't really listened to it since then. I sometimes will play a song or two. But never the entire album. Guess it was just not cutting the mustard by that point, as I was into Slayer and Metallica at that point.

Do you use an app to catalog what albums you already own? I’ve done the mistake of buying the same album twice. Want to finally organize myself and catalog them. Thanks for your help!

I used to keep a spreadsheet using Google Sheets, but stopped updating it a year ago (it became too much of a chore). It was only for vinyl, not CDs. If I could it again, I would probably catalog the collection in Discogs.

I wonder why the Anno Domini box set didn't include 1987 "Eternal Idol" album. You would think that all the Tony Martin era albums should be in the set. "Eternal Idol" has some great songs on it, a few of my favorites are "The Shining", "Hard Life to Love" and "Born to Lose". To me the box set is incomplete without that album.

Nice box set that I'm surprised at the popularity of it actually! I'd love to hear the Forbidden remix but I already have all of those albums on CD so will not buy again. I went to see Sabbath on 3 of those tours w/ Martin, 89, 94 & 95 and enjoyed him in the band.

i have a big colection of 80´s metal bands that i liked and after ozzy or ossie only ronnie james dio made a great black sabbath album ,others don´t have any feeling like ian gillian that i bought the album put it to play once and never ever i played it again ,deep purple was fine but his voice in bLACK SABBATH DIDN´T LOOK or sound like balck sabbath, judas priest is also a great band but in early 80´s were all starting the genre so to speak as i do like late deep purple albuns as "Burn" with david coverdable and it´s live album with the cover of "ain´t no love in the heart of the city" when R.Glover left the band and ian paice and john lord still there it started to call them selves whitesnake who i find very god it´s first two albums, about ties i remenber a magazine in the 80´s(maybe hammer metal) with a huge tree of liasons between musicians and bands of the 70´s

Hey congrats on the weight loss!! It sucks that gaining weight is so easy but losing weight takes a lot of work and discipline. Now I gotta tell you when I clicked on this video and thought and saw the thumbnail. I was thinking to myself, self. This guy looks thinner in the face because with men usually it’s the face that goes first then the belly goes later , at least in my experience. Find a picture from last year at this time and put it next to your face now and you can definitely see the difference.
