Chivalry ist a Third-Person abusing Ballerina game. Btw is this sped up or do the Mordhau devs intend to keep this combat speed? Because whoever fought with real medieval weapons and armor knows that you won´t last long stamina wise with swinging that much and that quick.

I always thought Chivalry went downhill because of people giving up on reactive, skill-based techniques and surrendering to the trend of so-called "Zwei-copters," or as I preferred to call it, "Greatsword ballerina bullshit." Your comment at 1:00 convinced me that this game has a high chance of being everything Chivalry should have been, and I am glad I heard about it. Can't wait to see the final product.

zwei coptering has not been a thing for a very long time in chivalry, when i left(a few months ago) it was all doops, feints, and fast weapons like norse and sow. the competitive vanguards that did use zwei usually just used it as a maa 1 shot with a feint, not much spinning.

I haven't played actual versus modes in a good long while, I kept getting swept up in the horde modes for some reason the last few times I installed it. But I was still getting really sick of the mouse dragging kind of thing, which is just the most absurd mechanic I've ever seen and totally spoiled the game for me. I got used to it after a while and could pull it off myself, but that's when the game stopped being fun for me.

Played CMW for like two months and already quit, the combat system was too easy to exploit and skill didn't pay off at all, went back to AOC after feeling i missed something in CMW, and turns out it was a more fun game lol.

DuBaas007 Never played AoC, does it still have an active player base? I'm curious. I just really loved C:MW at first because people did not know all the exploits yet, and the only reason everyone started using them is because the devs kept nerfing everything else - except the exploits themselves, which they could easily fix - they even fixed some of them in Deadliest Warrior, but for some reason never deployed those fixes to MW. So, I'm afraid I'm done with it, even though it's literally the only multiplayer game I've enjoyed in... well, pretty much my whole life.

Morgannin AOC is more simple but more skill-based. Tho its also alot more glitchy and buggy, its still alot more fun to play. It has a small playerbase with alot of veterans who have played since its release in 2007-8 (forgot). We are kinds toxic but if you dont take stuff too seriously its always a blast with the guys in there. :p

This could be game of the year for me. Just do it.

No?))0 Rainbows were deleted from game a year ago (when it was Project Slasher), feints is more readable and you can't accelerate your attacks, animations were created with this in mind (BUT! I think drags will be possible, because you are still can control your swing in real-time, like in Chiv, i'm just don't know how it will work)

This is Chivalry 2 and for me it's a great thing! I didn't pay it much attention before because I thought Torn Banner would make Chivalry 2 themselves, but now that I see their Magic Warfare game - I sure am glad Mordhau exists. Looks like a more sophisticated version of Chivalry.

This looks fantastic! I'll have to try this some day

3 years of following this game and I decided to come back to the first video I ever watched about it. This video wasn't lying when it said the combat was easy to pick up but difficult to master. I only have around 2 hours in the game right now but they have been an incredible time. Within 15 minutes of being in a duel server I was already able to hold my own and engage in fast exchanges of blows, yet I wasn't able to do complex maneuvers such as a chamber. I had many hours in Chivalry, yet in my first game of Mordhau I already knew it surpassed it in many ways. Absolutely incredible moments happen on a game-to-game basis. My personal moments have been throwing an axe at an enemy that was doing the same and having them collide in midair, fighting three people at once and winning, deflecting a throwing axe and hitting the thrower with the same attack and many more. My friend has had just as if not more awesome moments within the same period of time. The only complaint I have is that all the servers are full. I don't know whether to smile because this game is becoming very successful or rip my hair out because I can't find a game.

I think this will do way better than chivalry in every aspect, I just really hope it will come to console. competitive is going to be so good with this game. I would gladly pay $60 for this on console

It is my understanding that the thumbsticks on the controller will pose a very difficult obstacle in maintaining fluid combat as they cannot match the precision and quickness of mouse movements unfortunately :(

He's not wrong at all. PC players of chivalry with 4,000 hours of controller play are good but very easily beatable by a 500-1000 hour player that just got into competitive play. With this making the combat even more complex controllers will be a bit further behind in capabilities yet.

it has efect but its "reversed"(not sure is this exactly right word). with low dpi/sensitivity you will turn in swing animation very fast (same aplies when you operate catapult or balista)

Jaffa When an attack is set in motion, the speed of your camera (where you turn around while attacking) is limited at a set speed. I have over 600 hours on the game, and have tried to make sensitivity max, then swing, and you cant go faster than the limit.

Something id like to see implemented is edges deteriorating, if you constantly take large strikes from a hammer at one point in the blade, that area either does less damage, or maybe the sword will actually break in that area. One other thing is in European Martial Arts their blades wouldn't be fully sharpened, only the tip and a few inches down was fully sharpened, they used this so half swording and mordhau could more effectively be controlled, I love what you guys are doing and keep up the good work!

This game looks like an absolute fucking dream to me. It out chivalrys chivalry and Ive not seen a more fluid and responsive looking meele combat system in any other game. What you have already achieved here is absolutely incredible and I cant wait to support the game and you developers. As a character artist I would just love to say to the art team that they have done an amazing job on the characters seen here and the armours look incredible, very inspiring. This video was also very well produced and everything was explained very clearly. I just love this real time weapon tracking stuff its amazing, sorry to compare but chivalry was good at its time but looking back now it is just so clunky and not fluid at all, where as what is shown here is the exact opposite. I also really love that you have noted the balance of armour and dismemberment, the wounds look absolutely great and im glad there wont be as many flying heads and limbs as other meele combat games. I also absolutely adore that you have included the alternate way to use each weapon, especially the addition of halfswording and using sword crossgaurd against armour, showing how these weapons were used historically while also keeping it fun and balanced is incredibly admirable.

This games solves some of the problem with Chivalry which was the lack of control over what you can do and the lack of fluidity if an attack is parried.

Fast paced, precise, realistic and tactical, looks really cool.

This looks VERY impressive, and while it does show similarity to chivalry, it looks WAY more complex on a mechanical level.

I literally drooled. Amazing. If this turns out good...oh god this is amazing.

+JoshTruff In a sense, Chivalry has directional strikes, just in a bit another way (there is a thing called alternative swings, you can press ALT + slash / overhead and you will attack from the opposite side) + you can manipulate your swings during attack.

This looks outstanding. Once more small developers show us that good material is made out of love and not out of greed.

This looks incredible. One thing I must mention; if you're gonna have such an in depth combat system (which is a good thing), the matchmaking must be spot-on or else the expert players would have such an upper hand on the beginners that the player base won't be able to grow. Thanks for the hard work guys!

Fights actually look like fights and not a competition on who can stretch the game physics the most.

I really, really really look forward to this! Do you have any specific era in time you're focusing on? Will there be DLC-like content which is set in other times? (Earlier or later etc.) I really like the ability to half-sword!

This games combat system makes me ROCK HARD. I've been waiting for a type of game like this to come out. Playing Chivalry was close enough, but this game looks even BETTER.

Looks incredible. I was excited for Deliverance but this looks amazing. I'm tempted to delete Chivalry from my Steam library, because it will have no place once this game comes out.

Chivalry is full of skilless dancing kiddies these days. Hopefully this will get rid of that.

Its just an exploit, its a bit like someone knowing somewhere on the map where they can glitch and cant be seen. Once found it negates the need for skill to defeat an opponent.

+Guerrilla gorilla soldier. Dancing wouldn't be as bad if the parry mechanic was able to keep up with the rapid attacks dancing is able to put out.

Broken or not, Chivalry is one of the most skillful games master, it takes thousands and thousands of hours to perfect technique and tactic. It's up there with CS GO in skill requirement imo.

This is iike a dream come true as I always loved Chivalry, but this is even more badass.

Agree with you totally I love the fact that in this video they even said it wont do more damage or attack quicker... To me Chivalry was a shite game. The only good thing about it was it's gore. If I wanted to play a game like that I would just play Warband as it was simple but had a much higher skill cap that Chiv. Now however I think Mordhau will be my next big thing!

This game looks like the best compromise between a fun video game and "realistic combat". Can't freaking wait.
