Here is my cover of the mighty Immortal Rites, the opening track of Morbid Angel’s first release - Altars Of Madness. Immortal Rites is very close to me as it is the song that led me to begin making my own tablatures, some 10 years ago. Frustrated with tabs online that weren’t accurate enough, I tried to decipher the sonic assault that is this song, something I have continued doing since then! While the production makes it hard to capture every detail of Trey and Richard’s playing, watching live footage helped in figuring out specific parts!
I recorded both Trey’s (Right track) and Richard’s (Left track) as well as given a shot to both solos.

At long last here is the final version of my transcription is available on Soundslice! This song was shrouded in mystery in the sense that there are a million ways people play each section, but after years (I'm not exaggerating) of watching live footage, I believe this to be the most accurate tab out there for this song. Contrary to popular belief, there are no 16th notes in the intro, and Trey plays the power chords and open E strings in an alternate picking pattern. The second riff has Trey and Richard playing harmonised power chords an octave above. The third riff is actually triplets and not 16th notes etc... For the solos, bear in mind the very nature of these leads: erratic, chaotic, so tabbing them 100% is not easy, but I think I put down the main ideas, execution would be up to you! You're awesome, buddy. Looking forward to the lesson. I'm kinda like You- whenever I learn a song, I have to be sure that it's 100% correct, like orginal version. I pllay by ear due to bad quality tabs on the internet, but as you mentioned, sometimes it's super hard to hear notes clearly, Morbid angel is good example.

Сделай пожалуйста кавер на Radicult??? Вообще не могу нигде найти ничего по этой песне Morbid Angel … ни табов нет ни каверов , хочу ее сыграть , но сам не сниму , квалификации не хватает. Если сделаешь будешь первый в ютубе, на Radicult никто не делал … Спасибо

What can one say, if you compare 'Altars' to 'Entangled in Chaos' live CD, the tone and timing are different, and even in the Rock City - 1989 in Nottingham versions, I believe there's so many effects and/or overdubs on this nobody can get it correct 100%, or to sound like the record. Hey Mike, sorry for the late reply. I agree with you that it's hard to nail it 100% percent. the production on the original record is not clean enough to capture every minute detail of it. I did watch Ioza's cover extensively before making my own. I agree with you that their tone is much better than mine and to be fair I spent a lot of time trying to simulate the sound to no avail, and it shows in the end result. Regarding the accuracy of the tab, I don't exaggerate when i say that this tab took me years, maybe 6 or 7 of continuously going back and forth to the record and live footage to check every single note, every accent. That doesn't mean I have it perfect, but I have watched every frame of every video on the face of the earth showing Trey and Richard playing Immortal Rites. Actually, comparing both old and more recent footage you can see it changed.: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nKCI2rlyerjKmqg.html&ab_channel=ROCKERSANDMETALHEADS 0:17, you can see what trey's hands are doing. The intro really is where most tabs / covers differ, the rest is mostly the same. i tried to stick with the older footage as I believe that is similar to what is played on Altars!
