Quantity is better than the old format, but the cameras cant keep up with them. Don’t make it an endurance test. Limit to 25 - 30 pitches with a pitch clock and bonus pitches for every HR over 440. Encourage and let us admire the moon shots more!

Thank God people are starting to speak up about the current format. It takes away from the majesty of the home run and turns it into a 3 point shooting contest

I've been saying this for the past like 3 years. It is exciting when the guys are down by like four home runs with 20 seconds left and they hit five in a row to win or whatever. But one of the best parts of home run Derby was the spectacle of watching home runs hit near 500 ft or over. If they are going to keep the time format which I'm fine with they need to go back to how it was in 2017 where they have to wait until the ball hits the ground before the next pitch is thrown. Yes it will slow it down a little bit but you will be able to enjoy the Majesty of the long home runs and also get more of a quick Pace than the 10 out format.

MLB wants their fans to pay attention to this but the pitcher is always throwing the next ball before the other one lands, so the cameras never really know what to track anymore

I like that. But they should also have a pitch count and/pitch clock. The old way was too slow at times.

The pure power of these baseball players is ridiculous it’s like they hit the ball with no effort and crush it nearly 500ft damn i wish I wasn’t scared to play baseball and tht I had more hand eye coordination

Whoever thought of this rapid fire contest needs to be fired. It looks like a batting practice session instead of a suspenseful and exciting contest.

The format needs to be changed to a mix of the old format and this one. The whole point of the HR derby is to watch the HRs. This format is too busy… We can’t even follow a HR all the way through, they’re already swinging for the next one. I was at last years in L.A. and even in person it was hard to follow.

The St. Louis Cardinals had both Garcia and Arozarena on their roster just a handful of years ago and traded both away for nothing. Bizarre how bad the team is this year and Mozeliak still has a job?

Remember that judge and stanton battle? That was some of the most amazing power displays I have ever seen. Balls clear over 500 ft. It messed judge up for the second half so I dont think he will ever do it again.

The visuals of this derby were beyond terrible. No way to admire any of the homers, it was like watching to see how many times a player can swing a bat in 2 1/2 minutes...

MLB: If watching players hit 10 homeruns is fun, then watching them hit 40 homeruns is 4 times as fun! REALITY: Not

don't like the new format because we can't even appreciate the homeruns as they happen. they're swinging again before the ball even lands. you'll never be able to have another griffey warehouse or mcgwire green monster moment where they take a pause to let the fans go crazy. its also just an endurance/power contest to see who gets tired quicker and who gets the farthest homeruns to unlock extra time. its not even about skilled hitting anymore. betts didn't stand a chance.

Don’t hate me but I wish Shohei would’ve participated this year 😭 he should’ve honestly done it I think he could’ve won too cus he wasn’t going yard the way he is now last year he has the most homers this season in the whole league with 32 in 89 games which is 3 more ahead of Olson in 2nd place compared to 34 homers last season in 157 games and he definitely would’ve gotten that extra minute too cus he’s been hitting nukes this season, 493 ft, 478ft, 459 ft, 453 ft, all in the past two months BRO HE was literally 7ft away from a 500 YARD BOMB 😭😭😭 how could anyone hate Ohtani and he literally gets better and better every year !!!!!

In regular season games everybody but their grandmother were hitting balls over 430 feet. I would like a real challenge let these players use ash bats and have balls manufactured to the exact specifications like they were in the 1970's (it could be anywhere from the 40's to 1993).

Those distances were so erratic. Some seemed accurate, at the ones to right field but having been to safe I, they definitely over measured a lot of the home runs. You’d think with stat cast they’d be accurate but I’ve been watching and studying home run distances for years and statcast seems about 8-18 feet further than actual distance. It’s hard to understand how they measure a home runs that goes 3 rows over a 375 foot fence and say it’s was 398 feet

This split screen isn't working for me. You don't get a sense of the distance when all you see is the bat contact and the ball landing. Please-one screen and show the action from behind the batter.

The Derby is just way too fast moving now. I mean it gets exciting because you can hit five home runs in a row very quickly, but one of the spectacles about the home run Derby was getting to see your favorite Stars hit these Mammoth home runs. Now it's all about speed. It's them flicking the wrist for three minutes straight and the camera constantly trying to keep up. I don't want to go back to the tent out format but they need to go back to the format where they wait for the ball to hit the ground before the next pitch comes yes it won't be quite as exciting but at least with that we get to marvel in the home run distances like we used to. The way it is now the camera can't keep up and we don't even get to see 90% of the homeruns because all we are saying is the ball flying and then hitting somewhere for 2 seconds and then the next one is flying. I mean there was one that was 485 ft and I don't even know which one it was. It's moving way way way too fast and the spectacle is gone. Either slow it down and make them wait until the ball hits the ground again or just go back to the ten out format.

what a joke.... a ruined game of blind swinging and constant whiffing all to get a common HR.... we now have 100+ of these 150+ whiffs/ yr lame kooks now... ie Larry Berra had only 12 strikeouts in the entire 1950 season playing in OLD Yankee Stadium... he also hit 28 HRs to go with the 12 whiffs. thats a SuperStar! Period!
