Much more strategy involved too. You don't feel forced to swing at every pitch to try and catch up. If you have a really good pitcher these days, it's a decent advantage

I don't know how the MLB can keep screwing up the Derby. When they brought in the time limit it was so much better and we could still see the balls land. For some reason the MLB thought "More HR=Better" so they kept pushing it and now we don't even get to see where the balls land because the hitter's don't have to wait anymore between pitches. It's horrible to watch on TV. The announcers most of the time weren't even telling us when balls went out. They need to go back to making them wait for the ball to land so the viewers can see it and appreciate the home run and then the camera comes back to the batter for the next pitch. I don't care if that means we will get less home runs. There's no point to having more homeruns if we can't see them. Also, the bracket is illogical. The first round should be all 8 batters competing against each other. The top 4 move to round 2. Then you could either have 1seed vs 4seed and 2seed vs 3seed, or do the same thing as round 1 and have all 4 compete against each other and then the top 2 face off in the final round.

Make a change in the format ('seeding') for the final. Vlady should not have had to go back-to-back with about a 3-minute rest (gassed) while Arozarena had to wait 47 minutes between pitches - 'coldish'/zoned out - and if not for lack of power, he would have won easily, recovered.

It’s always been about volume ever since it started back i don’t even know how long ago. Even the 10 out format was still about volume

Would have been better if people had time to enjoy the home runs, at least wait till they land before the nex pitch. It looked like a sh*t show on tv trying to watch both sides of the screen with a bunch of people running in the outfield making it look even more chaotic.

The home run derby setup is dumb. 1. With the split screen on espn I couldn't even see a bunch of homeruns. And the sheer volume and speed of the whole thing makes it hard to enjoy and watch each homerun. A home run derby doesn't need a clock like a 3 pt contest. Go back to the old style You get 10 outs amd taje your time . Chris Berman saying back back back gone amd every home run you could watch and enjoy was pure gold. This is dumb setup.

Ohtani opted out and Yordan Alvarez and Judge were injured. It's kinda hard for players to commit to this when it's in the middle of the season.

I thought the homerun derby was determined by who has the most homeruns in the 1st half. Where's ohtani, where's Olson they are the leaders. I'm confused
