They should cut out the act where they make you think its illegal. Scene one the dude says if the law pulls them over they can say its spring water. The next scene the dude has a giant red sticker on his truck window that says moonshiner.

I grew up just down the road from Nelson County, where they film most of the Virginia portions of this series (as well as Amherst County and my own home town of Lynchburg, which is/was featured in the intro for several years). It's a pretty big open secret - none of these guys are actual 'shiners. They either produce well below the legal quantity limit or have state distilling permits, which aren't hard (or particularly expensive) to get here, Kentucky, Tennessee, or North Carolina. Just for those of y'all not in the USA, who may not be aware.

He just said enough to Jerry that If that had been me or anyone else we would have walked away from that 🤬 I wouldn't be working for him in the first place and he would never work on my crew!!!! Daniel warned Jerry and Mike is for Mike he's no good for the liquor business!!! Jerry does more than Mike and Jerry built the column still he's very talented and he needs to say I'm gone and go work for himself or join one of the other liquor crews who know how to treat people. Whew Boy he pissed me off 🤬 PS: The whole cast of Moonshiners has Distilling license, they just go with the woods to make it more believable and more interesting. They are really making liquor but it gets sold in in Sugarland Distilling.
