Mooney M20E IFR Flight to Spokane [Actual IMC/ILS Approach/KSFF/Rain]
Ойын-сауық
This was my first ever true IFR flight while acting as PIC towards my instrument rating...and boy was it a challenge at the end! I got to hand fly the ILS into Felts Field with zero visibility. I have to say that the many hours I spent on FSX in Vatsim practicing really paid off! Thanks to my CFI Charlie for the great experience.

Ladies and gentlemen, this video has convinced me what I need to do with my 3K in savings. I'm going to acquire my IFR ticket again. Just an AWESOME video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing - great video. It was funny - ATC thinks she setting you up for any easy visual that turns into a low ILS approach with a 90 degree 20 knot cross wind! Nice job!
This has to be one of the BEST aviation videos I have seen on KZread! Great work!!! *****
Its amazing what we actually learn from Vatsim isnt it? Being a controller really helps with radio communications.
Fun flight. Nicely done video. Thanks for sharing.
That was real IFR. Great job.
That`s a beautiful Mooney !
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video and informative.
Great video guys!
I'm working on my instrument now...I bet this was a great experience. Nice flying.
Great video. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing man.
Great video, thanks for sharing! Beautiful panel.
great video. Thanks
Nicely done....
I agree, desktop flight-sims are a huge help in building and maintaining instrument proficiency. Good soup-flying, RDS! #Aviation
Great video
Amazing
Single engine IFR is no joke!
Looks like the Kaiser Trentwood aluminum mill on the breakout at 7:48.
Hi, nice avionics and panel! I am a M20e owner with a stock original panel. Could you tell me what type of autopilot is mounted on your M20e? Is this an Aspen MFD? Thanks
I did not notice if you had on board radar or storm scope. When you made the deviations you made them based on visual assessment of the build up. What if you had been in cloud and could not see those build ups. How would you have avoided them? Thanks.

Allan Haggar Allan, that is the beauty of the ground controllers. They see it all. They will vector you around the weather best they can, but you also have some responsibility in it as well. We did have a radar, it was on the tablet via ForeFlight using cellular data.
Nice! Starting my instrument training next week. Pretty intimidated honestly by the idea of flying through weather like this.
What kind of mount are you using for your I-pad?? I have an "E" model and I'm looking for a good place to use my ipad- thnx
was that for the Aopa Fly in last year?
Yeah, great experience & nice job with the IMC, but forget that for a moment; if I heard correctly, you had a 90 degree crosswind from your right at 10 knots, with gusts to 17!?! It looked like you might have been slipping the plane, but I couldn't really tell. Just curious, but if that's true, I would have thought that would have been the real challenge. LOL

Thanks! Yeah it was a decent crosswind. I had a decent wind correction angle going during the approach, and had to do a sideslip for the touchdown, yes. I didn't do to well, looking back though. So much for that centerline. ;)
Would you mind sharing some details on that IPAD mount? Where can one be purchased?
