We just watched the moon piece drop here in Mobile. There's a really cool moonpie store on Royal st. The banana ones are my favorite. I seriously have a box of them on my pantry shelf that we got from the moonpie store. Also, at the Marriott Downtown they put moonpies on each pillow instead of chocolates, no joke. Great video, thank you.
They are still two of my favorite treats. There is ALWAYS RC in my fridge, but I had to stop buying the pies because I have no will power where they're concerned, 🤣. My little brother went the opposite; he always has Moon Pies, but gave up the RC. Every now & then, we make a deal 😋.

I'm almost 62 and this story brings back times of 50+ years ago.I was a tadpole when Daddy would take me coon and bear hunting with him.He always carried a backpack strapped across his shoulders.I always knew it was a matter of time before we would sit down on a bank or side of the trail. When he opened that backpack, out would come a can of RC and a chocolate Moon Pie.Usually with a Zagnut candy bar. What great memories indeed! A while back I was in a BBQ joint and they had a chalk board near the front that had daily specials and a small piece of chalk on the floor below so l wrote off to one side of the board sorta on an angle RC/Moon pie 75.cents and as I was sitting nearby I overheard several customers asking about that particular special, and two older ladies were leaving they stopped and pointed at the chalkboard and talking and laughing about it. I thought it was hilarious, then a waitress wiped off that special, my recon is cause they didn't have any to sell. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞

I grew up on a rural dead end road in southern WV in the sixties and seventies. Only 8 households. My Dad was a miner but we had livestock and big gardens as well, as did most of our neighbors. The last place up (head of the holler) was another miner's family. But he took livestock to the next level, including four chicken houses with 500 chickens per house. 2000 chickens. Needless to say they were in the egg business. Me and some friends would sometimes help our buddy who lived there feed the chickens and clean the houses after school. Hot, suffocating work, especially in hot weather. Our pay? A big ole moon pie and a RC, sitting on the bench in the shade behind one of those old houses! True bliss. A time etched in my memory, gone forever!

Never heard of Moon Pies, however here in Australia we have Wagon Wheels! Which sound exactly like the Moon Pies, I’d say they must’ve renamed them when they first brought them out in Australia. They were so nice, and big but they seem to have shrunk here too. I still have one or two now fifty years later. R.C Cola never really took off here compared with Coke and Pepsi! Couple of thoughts... 3rd Saturday/Sunday of June, traditionally, has been "The" weekend for family reunions and get togethers, in the South. I am 63 y/o and for the life of me, and for as many Moon Pies as I have shoved down my gullet, I never once noticed or paid any attention to the word "Lookout" on the Moon Pie packaging, until your video! Was I laser focused on just the sweet satisfaction of the moon pie coming my way or was I suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder by not noticing the word? Probably the latter 😎. Video was great and a blast from the past, enjoyed it. Now, could I interest you in a "grap" soda and some 4 corner nabs?

There was nothing that tasted better than an ice cold RC Cola in the glass bottle! My papa used to buy an 8 pack and savor each one until it was Friday morning and time to get groceries again. Then he’d take his empty bottles to return for the refund and buy some more. It helped us a lot that we had a bottling plant in our small town of Pulaski, VA. Sometimes he would bring home a jug of lemon syrup to make us some lemonade. How I miss the simpler times in life.

Thanks brother, great story. Australia has it's own copy named 'Wagon Wheel '., with Western themed packaging. The same design but with a layer of seedless raspberry deliciousness inside too. I remember at school in the '60's they were BIG and thick with super soft delicious biscuits . The whole thing epitomised quality, taste and value. Later, the bean counters got involved and ruined the darn things, but that's" EXPERTS " for you. They're still sold but are small and come in a packet of a dozen or so. They're OK, but disappointing if you've had an original. I'm guessing Moonpies were equally as delicious. I can't imagine anything better.
