I have this machine. It is in a little desk with a chair. It looks like a small side table when closed up.

I didn’t realise the seat opened and inside is the full instructions and all the attachments. It also has the rotary buttonhole attachment instructions. I’ve had this for years and I just brought it back in from my garage. It’s in fantastic condition. I’d be willing to scan the instructions for anyone who is interested or in need of them.

@burgundie400 I'd love if you could scan those in! I just got one myself, and only things it came with was the table, Machine, and bobbin that was in the Machine haha

Enjoyed the video, I know it's old so you may not remember but where did you find power cords to replace the old ones with? I'm looking at one of these on shop Goodwill but I'm not seeing any cords with it (not that they'd be any good by now anyway)

eBay is your friend. Best find would be original "Chicago" connectors that you can wire your own cord onto. The older cords will have them, the newer ones are molded on.

Hello ❤ I realize you made this video a long time ago but I have This exact machine. I’m a newbie and I can’t figure out how to set up the bobbin in the machine so I can start sewing 😖 everything is getting tangled. On the off chance you see this comment I would be forever grateful for any guidance you can provide.

I have one of these I just purchased. The motor spins fine when no pulley is applying pressure against the spinning end of the motor... Do you have any clue as to how to determine whether it is simply brush changes or a new motor being necessary? I have got bit by a vintage sewing machine bug and wanted to restore the machines to functional (but I dont have the skills in painting etc...) so I wanting to really give these a new home as most are bad cabinets or none....cuz the trend is to use the treadle base for tables and toss the sewing machines...

If the motor is developing full power - and it may not be - the machine is probably stiff and in need of a good oiling and loosening up. Motors can also sometimes benefit from such. I just get 'em to run, and then let the run for several hours (under supervision).

@@veiledzorba I already lubed it up and replaced the cable that goes from the underside of the machine that gets stapled to the cabinet going to the knee throttle control... The thing is in time and will spin freely when just manually cranking the wheel. I read online after watching your video that maybe 1% of these will eventually have a motor go bad.... and they don't make replacements....of course EVERYTHING on the internet is reliable? Right!? Haha! Anyways ... thanks for responding so quickly! Wasn't sure if you were still reading comments or not. So I have taken the innards of the motor out of the housing and I really like how the brushes can be accessed outside of the unit pretty easily...and they looked fine. I will watch another video tomorrow IF I have enough time that shows how to use a multimeter to measure the windings... I disconnected the tension pulley and operated the motor without that on and it seemed to go pretty fast and there was no smell of slot car racing or sparks...and the thing seemed to be perfect....but the slightest bit of pressure applied would slow it down (if already at full speed) and if there was a start with the thumb and finger already on it... you could hear a hum...it would try to move...but seemingly not enough to make a difference in the wheel if connected... So .. hoping that I can find either a quick fix or.... slower fix that isn't quite so expensive. I have a habit of buying machines that don't work and need parts that aren't available lately! 😅🤣😂

Check the motor bearings - make sure they're clean and well lubed. Then run the thing with no load for awhile. @@mrupholsteryman

@@veiledzorba gonna try that...but I didn't see any bearings other than the one that let's the wheel side axle portion go through before putting the friction pulley on......and the part on the other other side of the motor assembly where the brushes fot next to....on side closest to the needle side of the machine.. I'll try to take another look sometime....maybe tomorrow? I work a bit and decided I must not be busy enough.... 😅🤣😂

Really enjoyed viewing this, and your web page on making the display box. Nice job. I just bought one the other day, but the wires are completely shot. The Chicago connectors are intact, but I think someone must have stored it in a hot attic or barn or something, because the insulation is literally melted off the wires and onto the base of the machine. It looks like someone drew on the base with a brown crayon! I read your thoughts on the unavailability of Chicago connectors, so I guess I'll have to look for a donor machine to get replacement wires. Sure wish there was a modern adapter for these that would allow for a modern set of connectors!

Hi, really like your video. I have one of these machines and need help in locating parts. The bobbin case tension screw is missing and also have only one bobbin. Have bee able to make stitches without the tension screw however not very good. If you have a lead on a bobbin case and bobbins please let me know. The info your video provides is excellent especially threading the machine. I would never figured it out.. Thanks again!

Robert. Almost impossible to find parts unless you can locate a parts machine. I have 2 of these and some spare parts. Unfortunately I don't have the part you are seeking. Keep an eye on craigslist that's where I found mine.

@@tinaschlegel5621 I just recently got a model 30 and there's a button that you need to press on the front of the machine's baseplate that looked like a rivet to me at first. It releases the latch so that you can lower it into the cabinet- it took me a while to figure it out so just letting you know in case that's the problem!

Hello I saw a machine like this one yesterday, but it is a long bobbin machine, and the lead wiring is exposed that runs from the machine to the motor, I saw in the comments about not being able to find parts for this machine, and was wondering if you have any advice to give. Should I purchase this machine or not, they are asking $30.00 it is in a nice cabinet and the foot controller is knee operated. What are your thoughts on this, and the pros / cons on this machine. Thank for such a detailed video.
