My moms name is Cherie as well. It’s a beautiful name with French origin meaning darling and the amount of people who get the spelling wrong, like on a Starbucks cup, is ridiculous. I can understand if you deal with that nonsense, but besides that comment, I want to say that I’m happy to hear you’re making decisions to better your future, hope Jesus is a part of it. God bless you

This song hit me hard. I remember how I used to be homeless for four years after the military. And it's gonna sound bad. But I was happy that I got a job at the Pavilions I used to pan out in front of. The manager helped me make a resume and got me a job working as a courtesy clerk. Then the pandemic hit and I was still able to keep that job. I'm now working in the deli. I may not have a million dollars. But I'm so proud of working and being able to get a house next month and feel like I made it good for myself. I may not be rich. But I am damn proud to have a job and good security in it.

I was my proudest serving as a U.S. Army Infantryman in the R.O.K. during the early 80s. I then got married got out of the Army and started a family. The only job I could find was as a sewer worker, so no honor working in other people's sh*t. But I got to go home about every night and spend time with my Wife and kids. I gave thanks to G*D ALMIGHTY for making me humble. Then the LORD blessed me by letting watch my daughter become a success in her chosen field, thru her own hard work and perseverance not asking any help from anyone. I'm proud of both my son and daughter. But I admit I have a special pride in my daughter. Buhdda head your dad loves you and is very proud of you.

When I was a kid, my great grandma would come up (to OKC from Houston) and stay a couple of weeks with my grandparents and make the rounds to see everyone. But it's amazing the little things that you remember about your elders. The story that I would always hear was her first ride in a covered wagon. Especially in the last 6-8 years when her dementia started creeping through, you could walk out of the room for 2 minutes and come back in and she always wanted to hung you, she'd ask you who you belonged to, and the tell you the covered wagon story again. We loved it! She would also tell us how she was older than the Oklahoma Hills; I think she was born 1 year before statehood. The only things I remember that wouldn't matter to anyone else is that when she would come visit she liked this one particular chair in my grandparents living room. But, as she got older it say a little too low for it to be comfortable getting in and out of. So my Papa built a little platform to set the chair on that raised it up just enough. Plus, my granny bought this 1 little foot stool to put by her char, and always a candy dish with a lid that was full of circus peanuts. Granny LOVED talking on the phone more than any one I've ever known, she even had the teenage girls of the 90's and early 2000's beat. So when my Granny would be getting ready for her to come visit, papa brought the platform and put the chair on it, I got the stool out and moved in by her chair and got the circus peanuts ready, we moved a phone to be right next to her chair... and my granny would put the rolodex next to her chair. And you didn't DARE call out when she was visiting if wasn't 1. short and sweet, or 2. an emergency. Couldn't be tying up her phone line. To this day that brown chair sits in my grandparents living room and every-time I look at it I smile thinking of her. She passed in the early 90's but she was the funniest! Laughed with her whole body and usually she was laughing at herself which would just get her even more tickled.

I am 19 years old and I still love to listen to my mom and aunts tell stories about when they were young and how my grandparents were and all the crazy times. I listen to one of my bosses talk about her life growing up in another country when I work long closing shifts with her. There is nothing better than listening to someone’s life and struggles while seeing the emotions the stories bring in their eyes. It makes everything real. I am proud of my mom. I have been in and out of the hospital since the day I was born due to medical problems and she worked 3 jobs to be able to take me to specialists all the time and get me speech and physical therapists. She put food on the table for me and my sisters and I am proud of her. Everytime I was sick, everytime I had to have surgery she was there no matter how hard it was for her. She is who I am proud of. She is strong and amazing.

I played this song for my wife today. She has trouble realizing just how important she is. For the past 40 years (yes we’re old), she has been a Nurse. ‘That’ IS something to be proud of, but, she’s always done MORE, she is always there for others no matter her own needs. Recently with all the COVID patients, her position demanded being on call, or working overtime to cover staffing. She has started feeling the effects and it is causing her physical pain to continue working as she does. She refuses to retire as she feels she would be letting her staff and patients down. I have no doubt she would stay there, damn the consequences, until she herself passed away. Recently, she was offered an alternative position, more in align with her longevity, that would allow her to actually leave at the end of her shift. This decision has weighed heavily on her. In her mind she is abandoning the Emergency Department, she struggles with accepting taking an ‘easier’ job (btw, it is not really easier, just more managerial). ‘That’ something to be proud of for her would take up volumes, she has more than done her fair share, but to her, it will never be enough. This song is hers. Thanks Biily

I’m so glad you did this song. This is such a powerful song, it don’t matter what job you have. As long as your working ,making an honest living is darn sure something to be proud of. Every job, whether it be a janitor, cook, waitress, cop, firemen, contractor, CEO, or whatever it is. Every job has a need, to keep everything going. No one should ever look down on anybody for their job, as if they’re working that’s what matters. Love this song.

I was lucky enough to see them live at Ft. Gordon during a Fourth of July show. They were truly special to watch live. Something I'm proud of is my family's military history. We can trace it back to the Scottish Rebellion. My GreatX6 grandfather was one of the first official American officers to die at the Battle of Concord. His efforts gave the Sons of liberty and main army enough time to hold the British off at the Battle of Lexington. I'm also proud of being the first woman on both sides of my family to have served in the military.

I'm so glad I grew up in the generation before social media ...I grew up listening to stories on the front porch swings and looking at actual black and white photos ... my grandpa died a few years ago and thru family history stuff his old best friend found me on fb and we got to talking and hearing the stories he told me has been so surreal and amazing and the best thing he ever said was " your grandpa would be so proud of you ...and tour grandpa always had this spark and fire in him and I see it burning so bright in you " ... I felt so humbled and honored to hear them words 😍❤🌷 I hope I make all my family members proud

Rest in Peace Troy! You are missed! One of my favorite Music duos! This song reminds me of growing up in a multigenerational family (up to 4 generations) and sitting and listening to my grandpa tell stories. I feel so grateful for growing up that way. It reminds me of sitting and listening to Oma tell stories of growing up in East Germany during the second world war. The stories of climbing out of a moving train window and or hiding under floor boards. Then taking a hike to Switzerland to escape. Managing to end up on the West side of Berlin, and sneaking in and out of East Germany to visit family. The saddest thing is that most of the family didn't want to sit and listen to her stories, but I loved to listen to them. Glad I did, because she reverted back to German now. The sad thing is my Niece asked my brother in law what their medical history was, and he said, "Don't know, because family history is death by bombs." (war). Oma isn't my grandmother, but my brother in laws mom, but I call her Oma because I adopted her.

I was 18 and got hit with serious medical issues. My family and myself thought my life was done. We believed I wouldn't have a career, marriage, kids, we truly believed I would be in a hospital the rest of my life. I'm now thirty with my own child care business, happily married for three years, and starting the processes of adoption and foster care. I'm damn proud of myself. 😊

I'm proud of my dad who served in the navy, and my stepmom for going through life with all her struggles (over 60 surgeries since she was born to start with). I'll take this a step further: I'm thankful to my stepmom for raising me as her own daughter since I was 6 years old (just turned 37 as I write this), and in these times of covid-19 I'm extremely thankful that I still have a job.

My parents were immigrants (legally in 1958) and they always preached what they said in this song. Work hard, family and friends and they built their dream. And when they wanted a vacation to visit family in Ireland, dad had 2 jobs and mom took on extra. They were a team, married 63 years and taught my brother and I to work hard and be thankful for what you have. When we went home no one had heat, it was just fireplaces (it was Dublin, not the country), no one complaining, just happy, loving people. I didn't miss our big home, heat or pool. I actually envied them. I love visiting family still, they also have heat 🤣. Hey I am getting older

I’m most proud of providing for my daughter. I grew up dirt poor, most of my clothes came from yard sales, I ended up a teen mom with an abusive partner. I somehow managed to leave him before it got real ugly, became the first person in my family to graduate college and have not messed up too bad as a parent. Growing up a sit down restaurant or a movie was a treat. I’m able to give my daughter so much more than I had. Life is not all about money, and money doesn’t make me happy but being able to buy her shoes that aren’t used for school or $20 to see a movie with friends does make me happy. Hopefully that doesn’t sound completely vain.
