FYI for everyone looking to do this… your mattress HAS TO have airflow beneath it or else your baby will be breathing in mold and getting bitten by bugs. Look up proper safety precautions for setting up a floor bed.

@@sallycortez5641I don't know where the OP lives, but why should there be mold and bugs on the floor? Nonsense! I'd put the lattice under the mattress for air flow to the mattress, and you're good to go!

@@cosi4683So spontaneous leaks can’t happen? Or unknowingly buying a house with moisture problems is not a possibility? And the bug comment, are we supposed to live in an airtight bubble where bugs do not coexist with us? This comment is just silly. A bed on the floor with poor circulation/airflow is just not smart, regardless of how your house is!

You can use wooden slats spaced 2-3 inches apart. You may also be able to use the metal portion that held up the crib on the lowest setting.

Love this! Thought I was going to have to buy a whole new bed. We have the same crib.

I love they can get in and out of the beds but my dog will definitely think it’s his 😂

I wonder if you could keep the metal portion under the mattress on the lowest setting for a bit of airflow for the mattress to prevent moisture from accumulating.

Ya know, when I was little, my mom and dad bought a crib from a Canadian company from Babys R Us. It was supposed to have a conversion kit that you buy separately. They never made it. My parents would have loved this crib. Also, it seems like a cool idea, the floor bed.

I don’t see how babies would stay in bed though? My baby likes to crawl and roll over even when he’s tired.

that's the point! Montessori floor beds allow the baby to have the freedom to get in and out of bed whenever they want (in a child-proofed room, of course). Typically, what ends up happening it instead of crying and trying to escape (like they would in a crib when waking up at night/early morning), they end up waking up, crawling out, and exploring safely + quietly (and often times getting back in bed and sleeping once they are ready to sleep again!!)

Nope would not want a bed on the floor especially on carpet because the dust mites and dust leaving the legs on. It would not have made it too high for a child to get in and out of.

i dont love the idea of a baby or toddler playing when they arent tired.some kids will play all night forcing body to stay up and be overtired and crying all day. fine if its during nap time but bedtime means bed time. even if i did montessori bed no out of the bed when its bedtime.
