I really want to encourage you Ashley, that I am one of those who could never afford one of these kits, but still really enjoyed watching the video. Sure I get that little pang of I wish... but there were some great ideas I can take away from it, and you have made some fab videos on Montessori on a budget, so I know you would never want people to think you must have these products to Montessori. You deserve to be able to make money by advertising such great products, when you offer us such amazing and valuable content for free every week. Please continue to do what you do, we really appreciate it! X

I am a new Gramala to an almost one year old. I have her three days a week. Several months ago I decided to look on youtube for a reminder of developmental milestones and things to do with her (I used to teach preschool many years ago then went on to teach college and later high school so I needed a refresher) and found one of your videos. I then have watched almost every video you have posted and love that you share your knowledge and your family. Your videos ate so well done, and are clear and concise. So informative. Just wanted to give you an air high five for ALL your hard work. My living room is set up all Montessori like and it is going well. My daughter has recently set up a shelf and baskets too! Thank you and I am looking forward to more videos. :)

I know you will be getting a lot of "i hate this sponsored video bec the brand is too expensive" comments. So I just want to say, don't feel discouraged, Ashley! We know KZread is your job and you need sponsorships to earn money. Also, I really appreciate how upfront you are whenever the video you are posting is sponsored or not so I don't mind it all. I mean, if it says in the very beginning of a video that it is a sponsored one and you don't like ads, why would you still watch just to put a negative comment? Just don't mind the others. You have already mentioned before that everything can be recreated on a budget if you put in effort and time. Just want to send you some positive vibes. 😊 🇨🇦

Thank you… I *really* appreciate you saying this. ❤️ And for what it’s worth, I only ever agree to create sponsored content that I believe my audience would be interested in learning about. I turn down literally dozens of sponsorship offers each week that are low quality or not aligned with my content. But I’ve been asked many, many times about this brand, so I thought it was a good match.

@@HapaFamily 💙 it is a good match with your content. For those of your audiences that wanted a real montessori subscription kit, this is their only option and for sure would like to know what you think about it. The brand is pricey, yes no doubt about that, but they really are targeting those specific parents who are willing to pay the price for their products. Price will always be a sore topic for a lot of people especially now during the pandemic. Also, people tends to want to have the best of the best but are not willing to pay for it. Just let them be, you can't win the argument anyway 😊

Hi Ashley, I never comment on videos or forums but I wanted to express my deep appreciation for your channel and all the knowledge you’re sharing! I’ve been watching your videos before my 16 month old was born and have learned so much. With an education background, I never really explored Montessori but now I have implemented it at home. And my daughter is thriving in this environment we have created for her - and you’ve inspired much of it! I saw the opinionated comments so I just wanted to share my support. I enjoyed watching this video and this would be a great resource for certain families. I won’t be purchasing from the company since my husband and I were able to build and diy many of the furniture and toys. But I know some families (who aren’t considered “rich”) who would find this beneficial. And must I add the cost isn’t too bad once you add all the supplies together like the toilet learning box - itd be the same or actually cost more if you’d buy them individually.

And if I end up not having enough money, just seeing them is a great inspiration of what I can curate for my baby. Thank you Ashley for always sharing ideas and resources. It really helps me as a first time parent to understand child development and what I can do to support. 💗

What an exciting partnership! I've always thought Montikids was the best option of true Montessori materials if you're to go the kit route (tho honestly I wish they'd work on their pricing at this point in their journey). These are some amazing additions to their plykits!! Honestly, if I had to choose, I'd probably invest in these kits to prepare the environment in a beautiful way, and then buy and DIY the activities and materials. 😍 We JUST set up a toilet learning station in both bathrooms..how I wish this had come out just a few weeks ago 😭

I really like Montikids. For me, the quality and coaching and support they provide is so worth it. I had no friends or family that had done Montissori and hadn't even considered it until after my child was born and I felt I didn't know enough or have enough time to do the research and learn and get the right toys and know the right way etc and it was overwhelming as I was also trying to be a new mom so for me it was a good fit.

Pricey, but look like good quality! I would consider the kitchen kit. I just wish there were more culturally diverse Montessori products. I wonder what Mike's business will release next. Ever consider doing some Asian related products? (My fam is Chinese American). For example the type of rolling pin in the montikids kit is not what we use, and obviously there are no chopsticks (which we can supplement, with plastic products though). Also there are Montessori aligned Chinese language learning tools similar to the moveable alphabet, but they aren't available for purchase in the US. Food for thought. Thanks for a fun vid!

And then eventually we just reverted to only when they let us know that they had to go. But I think the 30 minute thing is just to make sure you’re not letting the child go too long without an opportunity to try using the potty when they’re first learning. So true, just think about olden times. Parents never have to use so many things. At the moment entire generation is full of such materials yet they can't even handle their emotions. It's not about things that matter in a child's life its the experiences they will ever cherish. Kids forget about things but they do remember the experiences be it positive or negative. There's hardly any company who is really providing educational toys. After all it's business no one is doing for free.

I really don't understand the need to insist on how pricy these kits are. They're clearly optional if you can't afford them, nobody will call you a disgraced parent; yet, it doesn't mean it's not worth updating parents about wonderful tools to support their educational journey.

As I saw on the video today they have a type of magazine now with the information which I think is very cool and easier. However the price is on the expensive side. If you have time and commitment you can get same materials on Amazon/Etsy/DIY for lower price and for the information watch hapafamily videos and read some books like the ones from Simone Davies or listening some podcast like Simplicity parenting, unruffled, the Montessori notebook etc etc💕. And hopefully soon Ashley’s book 💕 (I can’t wait 😅)

Wow, looking at that website it's hard to remember that Montessori started out as being for poor children. I know that you've posted videos before saying that it doesn't matter if you can't afford everything, but having a video like this in the Montessori at Home series, rather than in weekly vlog, doesn't make it feel that way. These kits are so expensive. The toilet learning kit has a potty, a basket, a book, some flash cards and a tap extender for $75. I just don't see the value. I don't have children yet, so maybe I'm missing something, but I feel I could find all those pretty easily for £40 without a notable drop in quality.

Hey, Laura! Just wanted to pop in and add something to your comment, from a completely honest perspective (I promise - even though this video is sponsored, I would only ever share my honest opinions with you guys!). ☺️ Although I can certainly see how the cost of the subscription levels may fall out of budget for some families, the individual kits are actually quite well-priced. Just for comparison’s sake (using the toilet learning kit as my example), if you poke around on Amazon to check out the individual prices of all the pieces that are included in the kit, it amounts to an approximate total of $70 if everything were purchased individually on your own ($20 for a potty, $20 for a small cotton rope basket, $15 for a set of routine cards, $10 for a faucet extender, and $5 for a potty-themed board book). And if you were to roll the guide, parent learning center, and online community (where you can ask questions and get help) into one “item” and consider it as the equivalent of a potty training book or e-course that some parents might otherwise also buy, then you’re basically getting that for just $5 more. And that brings you to the same cost as the Monti Kids kit ($75), without the hassle of having to source everything on your own. So it’s actually quite comparable in price, I think, and also convenient. Maybe prices are different in the UK for those kinds of items? Not sure, but I think for the US it’s pretty fair. Just my two cents! ☺️

@@HapaFamily Thank you for the reply. When I first started watching your channel, your way of life felt so easy and accessible, with lots of simplicity and DIY. It doesn't really feel that way anymore. You've gotten a lot of attention from companies that are providing you free stuff, and it has really changed the feel of the channel. I absolutely think you deserve everything you've gotten and more, but with every pricey item you are given, the less accessible your life feels to the average family. I don't want to discourage you, but maybe to give some perspective. Most of us can't afford Sprout furniture and MontiKids and the other products you've been gifted. Now that you've made a big scripted-sounding commercial as a video for your Montessori at Home series - for probably the most expensive subscription service out there - it feels like the days of ease and DIY are mostly behind us. I don't know what to suggest, because I don't begrudge you for taking everything you're given, but I'm just trying to explain the way it feels as a viewer. I subscribed because you made Montessori feel easy, but these days as more and more expensive brands are being promoted, I can't follow where you're going, as much as I'd like to. There are already a bunch of wealthy Montessorians out there promoting the expensive stuff, and your channel started out really different but has slowly been moving that direction. I'm sorry if this comment is unhelpful, but just trying to share how it has felt to see things change over time. I really really want you to succeed but I'm just bummed that it means your content is becoming less accessible.

@@peronne17 To be frank, that really sucks to hear, because it certainly isn’t my intention to make anyone feel that way. 😔 The goal of my Montessori content has only ever been to educate families about how to make Montessori work for them in their own unique homes-whether be that through a DIY approach, purchasing ready-made materials, considering the convenience of a subscription service, or a mix of these approaches. I have an audience base that varies quite widely-some who have more time and prefer to thrift and DIY all of their resources, as well as others who have less time and therefore prefer options that save time or require less effort. In light of this, I do my best to provide a variety of content that caters to all of my viewers across this spectrum. So just as much as I love to create DIY-style content, I necessarily must also consider the interests of my other viewers who are looking for more convenient solutions. Whether these kinds of resources are found to be acceptable by the majority vote is independent of the fact that there are still many parents out there who regularly ask me for review-style content of products and subscription services (like today’s video) so that they can better understand their options before making an investment. Another aspect of this is that creating a piece of sponsored content every once in a while helps me to continue to create my typical “free” content each week (and when I do, I always try my best to secure a special discount or giveaway of some kind for my audience to help offset things, but it doesn’t always work out this way.) If not for these sporadic opportunities, I’d eventually need to stop doing KZread altogether and go back to a more regular job. I really try not to post content like this very often (as evidenced by the fact that I haven’t posted a dedicated sponsor video since January) but when I do, it doesn’t automatically mean that I think it’s the perfect product or approach for every single person watching. I only aim to present the resources that are available and leave it to my viewers to make the decision for themselves thereafter. So truthfully, it bums me out equally as much to know that I can’t present the full spectrum of available resources to my audience without worrying that I’m alienating someone in some way. My channel has never exclusively been a DIY Montessori channel, so I’m not sure how else to remedy the sentiments you’re expressing. 😞

It's been so disheartening to see how much negativity is being directed at you. I get it, the playkits are expensive. Dr. Montessori started with nothing. But that was also at a very different time. If these kits were labeled Montessori but provided the opposite, there'd be a problem. If you were saying this is the only right way to implement Montessori at home, there'd be a problem. But when you take time week after week to provide free resources and add a singular sponsorship to show another alternative for the parent who may have the monetary means but not the time...I do not see a problem. I think everyone has been heard loud and clear that the price is a factor. But that doesn't invalidate Ashley's hard work every week in providing other ways to implement Montessori. If this kit isn't for you, that's absolutely fine. But if it is, you shouldn't feel ashamed by these comments to invest your money in this way either. Yes Dr. Montessori started the Montessori method with nothing. But she also based it in grace and courtesy, so I hope we can continue to value that as well.

It's too expensive, and it's giving you no flexibility of getting toys OR other things as gifts grom others without being overwhelmed by stuff. Next tot that, they may send the kits to europe, they don't offer other languages nor seem to be Working on that. English is just a second language in most of europe and not everyone is trained enough in it to properly use this at home. So, again... Only for the upper class people it might be working 😕
