    I'm super impressed with how thought out your safety features are! Also, just love your videos in general. I found you last week and am in love with your direct style of sharing information and how well spoken you are! Alot of the features of Montessori are making sense like they never have before. I can watch your videos, be informed, take what I need, and NOT feel shamed or guilted for not doing everything "right". This is so wonderful. You are a favorite resource!!!

    That chair is precious! I've been looking for something like that to add to our playroom reading nook! Question for you on the floor bed-did you have to do anything about drafts or cool air on the floor? Our house is drafty and has laminate, so the floor is chilly in the winter. I've been delaying the floor bed transition because of that but it is something I really want to incorporate.

    I don’t usually watch your Montessori vlogs because my kids are a decade older than yours, but I loved this tour. I watch all of your family vlogs because I remember when my girls were that age and I feel like I get to relive that stage. I also have a 10 year old boy. So one more than you. Anyway, I am now interested in whether Montessori can be done with older children. I wish I had known about this, and I feel that my 12 year old would benefit if there is something like this for her.

    How did you teach Mia to turn on the light in the mornings and that she was allowed to play with her toys? Or was this something she simply realized herself? I haven’t attempted the lamp setup but we do keep some toys in her room, there’s been very few times where she will get up and play. She will wait on her bed for us and I’m not sure why, because she’s definitely allowed to play in the mornings

  • @Ineverusemychannel

    @Ineverusemychannel

    I don’t have a child yet but what time of day do you replace items and how many at once? My (again, childless) assumption would be if you change out one item at a time and do it in the morning then the kid is less likely to have the Christmas effect of excitement and have plenty of time throughout the day to focus on the single new item. I think the opinion of this channel would also be that if the child keeps itself up to play after you put it to bed that you should check on the child periodically and put them back to bed or let them play until they put themselves to bed. I think the consensus is you should guide the kid but not force them, that way they learn what’s best for them intuitively. Don’t know if this helps but it’d be a great video topic.

    @@Ldawg42069 no. Sometimes they don’t. What they need is a routine and to keep an eye/ear on them and any time they get up, put them immediately back to bed. Eventually, they’ll understand the routine & what’s expected. But if a kid wants to play and is left on their own, they’ll likely build that habit, not grow out of it.

    I remember Kylie wearing that dress with the mustard-colored skirt that's hanging in the closet. Does Mia still end up sleeping on her floor instead of her bed or is she more consistent at sleeping in her bed as she's getting older? Also, when you mentioned getting her a comforter at some point, my FIRST thought was "Oooh. I could knit the girls throw blankets for their beds." Hahaha. If you were local, I'd probably give it a lot more consideration.

    I allow my 3 year old the freedom to leave her room, but I think it def depends on your home setup, safety concerns, and your child’s temperament. ;) also, Kylie sometimes gets nosebleeds in the middle of the night and needs to come to our room for assistance. So that’s part of the reason that we need to allow her that freedom.

    She’s always been really good about going to sleep as soon as she is genuinely tired. When she was younger, sometimes she would stay up for a bit and play and then go to sleep, but usually at nighttime she’s *ready* to zonk out. So playing in her room usually happens in the mornings only! ;)

    I love your videos! Thank you so much for all the wonderful content. I put my son in his floor bed when he was 18 months and he loves it. He is now 22 months and just learned how to open the door. How did you handle this situation with Kylie or plan to handle it with Mia? We also had a baby gate up but he somehow figured out how to knock it down.

    Do both ur kids have independent rooms? If I have a 7 yr boy n 18m baby girl to share room. how do I set the room?

  • @Ineverusemychannel

    @Ineverusemychannel

    I think the big difference would just be safety and accessibility. Anything that’s appropriate for the 18m to use should be low down and all furniture should be secured to the wall. While the bed in this room is open I might choose a bed that has a low gate for the youngest child just to avoid having the 7yr old sleepwalk or roll into it by accident (my brother was a sleepwalker around that age). White noise machines while the baby sleeps may help disguise noise the 7yr old makes while prepping for bed or playing. The gate on the door may prove important since the 7yr old can open the door. Maybe get a gate that the 7yr old can learn to open or one that is low enough for him to step over. I would probably keep the beds on opposite sides of the room to reduce the sleeping habits of one affecting the other but toys would be centralized to encourage learning at different levels. If you have space, floor cushions instead of a chair would be accessible for both and portable. The set up really depends on the room itself but as long as everything is secure and everyone can reach age appropriate activities, I don’t think the rest matters much.

    She doesn’t take daytime naps? I’m a little confused bc I know they take naps all the way through preschool in child care centers and the children definitely needed them. I even need daytime naps. Lol I’m just confused why you stopped her naps bc I kinda feel like your never to old for naps but she’s definitely pretty young to stop naps

    When he was almost 2, my brother stopped going to daycare ( because I got homeschooled). We could sleep for as long as we needed at night. I remember him skipping naps so much more than before and a few weeks later our parents stopped putting him to sleep during the day.

    What’s your night routine like? 🤔 Do you just kind of stick her in her room and close the door or do you snuggle with her until she goes to sleep? Also, how do you prevent her from sticking her fingers in the electrical socket? 🤣

    She stopped at 18 months, which is INSANELY early (my first napped until she was about 2 1/2). She will still sometimes take a nap in the car if we go out in the later afternoon, and then sometimes she doesn’t at all no matter what. But she will absolutely not go down for a nap in the house, no matter how long I try to give her the opportunity to go to sleep. I gave up a while ago, LOL and she seems perfectly fine!
