So having just completed the LL50.... My mate from Cornwall has encouraged me to sign up for this! It's been on my radar for a while and I've eventually committed. Any tips.... Lee? I have watched your reccys and kit video, but anything to add?

Message from Lee... Be prepared for the weather! Forget about changing trainers or socks at CPs, your feet will be wet, always! Tbh, I changed my top at Barrowburn and it took me what felt like half an hour to stop shaking and warm back up when I left, so don’t do that either! Gloves only! Change of gloves in your drop bags and use a gortex over mit on top. Do not sit down, in, sorted, out. Especially at Bleekhope! I stood outside the barn, the fires inside will take over your will to keep moving. The ground is horrible, the route is hard, but the weather will finish you if you're not prepared for it! Have fun 😆👍

Cracking watch this guys! love the footage and definitely makes me want to enter this in the future (even with the cold), grats Lee and look forward to watching Graeme next year ;)

So I've watched this a number of times - loved it obviously...but I mean the amount of times I saw you without a hat on? What is that about, weren't you like frickin freezing out there? Also your watch? I have a Fenix 6 as well and I would have been very upset if it hadn't lasted...was this a human error thing where you hadn't charged it before the race or did it actually not last? The other thing I was thinking that it would have been great had you of used night mode on the camera - if that camera had night vision - particularly in the snow, but then I was thinking I was impressed that you did so much recording because it's not easy taking your gloves off and putting them back on when you are cold and wet. My last Ultra doing the Brecon Beacons was spent with my hands in the gloves and not eating at all between stations because to do so I would have to take my hands out of my gloves! Lastly the Fenix Headtorch...just bought it and it's awesome! Anyway, you were brilliant and that really was an epic race. @Graeme - You need to buy the Hoka's wide version sounds like. I have to admit I changed my trainers from Mizuno's 9's to Hoka's Wide 91/2 for the Sussex Stride (50 mile) and my ultra running has been given a whole new lift! Pilgrims Ultra...that was where Lee came second wasn't it? What an awesome runner he is...although not great on Backyard Ultras lol

Hi Brent, glad you liked it. So, the hat thing, I’m not a hat person I get too hot. But it was that cold at moments that I did have to hoy the hood up, but after a while I need it back off. Guess I just function warmer than most. The watch, was fully charged but I guess I had too much active on it. Maybe I could of reduced the power mode. Live and learn. And lastly, unfortunately the gro pro doesn’t actually have night vision, it’s a lie 😬😬🤫🤫 The couple times we’ve done that have been a bit trick camera work. And that’s all I’m giving away 😂👍 Anyway thanks for your comments again Brent, and I’ll pass the Hoka advice along the G. Solid advice 👍👏👏

@@leebowmaker1885 I laughed about the camera...such a shame, it would have been like playing ghost recon! I'm giong to have to check my watch settings then...I have a funny feeling that I have everything on high and I plan to do the LDWA Flagship event in the Caingorns next year and unlike you I will need as much of the 48 hours as possible to get the run (walk mostly...think Graeme speed) done. You were awesome Lee, keep it going and I look forward to your next runs!
