    great video, even greater job missing the negativity! Please consider a video touching on towing rating, hitch weight and the benefit or drawback over single rear wheel versus dually. Each vehicle manufacturer lists the capacities of the tow vehicle, but many folks don't get the hitch weight versus towing capacity confusion. Having a high 'tow' rating does not translate to high 'hitch' weight. I see too many rigs on the road where the truck is obviously overloaded and squatting considerably in the rear, and leaving little weight on the steer axle. An example: a 1500 Ram may 'tow' 16,000 lbs, but it's rated 12-1500 lbs on a fifth wheel hitch. Bet a dunkies you can't nerd it up and keep it simple. ;)

    i'm looking at buying my 3rd RV & can't tell you how refreshing your video is. Many of us want to know about the integrity and build of a unit. (Neeeded to hear about the plywood and 36 month warranty). Your video is the way presentations should be versus opening ALL the RV drawers including the microwave- & oven doors....sitting in recliners pressing buttons and acting like clowns. Thank you again, for having an adult and mature approach. Appreciate ya!

    Thanks for making this video. I'm an aspiring 5th wheel owner and I appreciate your videos. When I'm ready, I'll definitely be stopping by to see you! Have you made any videos detailing differences between manufacturers when it comes to solar? I know Montana leads the way with the Super Solar Flex, but I saw a few different solar ready signs in that Jayco and i know some manufacturers are starting to add juice packs and other things besides just "solar on the side". Anyway, I think it would be a fun topic to highlight similarities and differences between solar options.

  • @JoshtheRVNerd

    @JoshtheRVNerd

    3 жыл бұрын

    Jayco has been offering standard side AND Roof solar prep on more models than just about anyone else for longer than anyone of which I am aware. And they're now the only brand I know doing it on literally all of their travel trailers and fifth wheels standard (even their single axles as of the 2021 updates!) A TON of brands have started offering things like 100-190w factory solar packages. Montana definitely sets the standards though with their "basic" solar package being 300w + inverter and their super solar being 1200w + a SCHLOAD of hardware. Solar is such a tricky thing though. It's anything but "one size fits all." Rather, it's 100% a thing of "What size fits you?" There's just simply no package that can handle every potential RV'ers needs affordably. I'm eager to see how more and more solar integrates into the RV industry, though. My hope is we start seeing smaller campers capable of running completely 12v in the next few years (like the Geo Pro segment) before that technology expands into other RV segments.

    I do not hesitate to say two years ago it felt like a much easier decision for me. Montana really was the clear winner at the time. Jayco didn't like hearing it and they agreed. I personally feel a smidge more confidence with the knowledge that Montana has been operating at this elevated level for longer, but it's not like Jayco is some spring chicken. Our lineup was super expansive, but through a few years of monitoring sales stats we saw where some brands shined thru and where some brands struggled to sell among our other offerings. So we have trimmed things up a bit & basically brought a "Great Hits of Camping" lineup to our clients this year. We simply haven't seen enough new RVs land to really get that lineup rolling LOL

    Our content is generally limited more to the brands we feature among our lineup. Perhaps down the line "When I get time" I'll be able to do some "extra curricular" stuff like that, but I don't think I'll be able to do so soon I will say this -- While we carry High Country and Montana the Avalanche and Alpine are not inferior products. They're what I call "Sister Brands." Where something like a Rockwood and Flagstaff are quite literally IDENTICAL the High Country has a very similar sister called Avalanche & Montana has a Similar Sister called Alpine. They're FAR more alike than they are different -- like 97% the same basically Each simply has MINOR variances either in a floor plan catalog or feature selection. Always very minor differences.

    We looked at both. We wanted the mid bunk model. 2020 NP was $3k more than the 2021 Montana w/ Legacy package. So that sold us - as we wanted disc brakes. Now to figure out how to add that 5 gallon water to our residential fridge, as we loved that feature. Overall the NP felt smaller, we actually wondered if the footprint width wise is smaller. Especially the bedroom - when slide was out, it felt quite a bit smaller. There were other small finishing touches that just felt undone in the NP. I actually had the NP #1 on my list. We had to wait 45 days for the dealership to get the model we wanted in. And when we went through it, just realized that while it had great features, the overall quality just didn’t feel the same. And then it was priced higher. So at the last minute we switched to the Montana. We have been very happy with our decision.

    With 100% respect I feel strongly you were not provided with 100% transparent pricing figures. North Points and Base-Montanas (no legacy) are nearly identical in pricing. Legacy units will certainly cost more unless the figures have been... manipulated.. I suspect you may have been provided MSRP on one and a discounted sale price on the other. I can only speculate of course. Not sure which generation of North Point you had seen. There was a SIGNIFICANT shift and push forward from that group from the early to late 2020 generation. The good news: Montana is a BEAST product. It's never the wrong answer.

What is your opinion on which manufacturer makes the best ( lighter-half ton ) models? I'd be curious to know the type of weather you encounter. Keep in mind _absolutely no_ RVs are guaranteed for more extreme weathers. Typically MFGs test from 0-100 and that's about it That all being said.. we had several brutal polar vortex winters the past few years and had owners in things like Cougar/Montanas reporting excellent results. They include things like tank heating pads standard which helps.

Forgot to bring my lithium charger so generator couldn’t top it off properly. Ran low on generator gas so had to set thermostat to 55. It lasted to 5 AM then I connected the trailer and ran it about 1.5 hours at 70 until fuel ran out. Water froze but thawed out later in the afternoon. No apparent damage. Whew. P Part of the underlines started to peel back about in the middle of the trailer. I could see a tank directly above. Not sure which one. Probably water. I’m looking to upgrade to a unit better insulated unit. Perhaps with installed heating pads. Thinking the pads themselves would help. I’ve watched some videos where owners have removed sections of liner, insulated, reinstalled, and sealed seams, and added foam. What a lot of work especially crawling around on ones back. One video featured a Pinnacle with another Pinnacle owned following up on the process. Poor guy fell from the nose repairing an LED leak and luckily landed on his feet, but still broke both heels. Wife and I love our Eagle. Seems the small Northpoint and Pinnacles are very similar just better. We don’t live it it full time. No Jayco is listed as a top winter trailer. Montana is on everyone’s list. So I’m pretty much asking you from your experience, which brands you notice have fewer freeze related repairs or what the recommendations are of the owners you run into who do a lot of cold weather camping. Just asking. Thanks a whole bunch.

    We're not a Palomino dealer so we won't be doing a review of it, but I'm familiar with the RV. It's actually a RE-introduction of what Keystone originally did nearly 10 years ago with the "Fuzion Vision" You can see one here www.haylettautoandrv.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fuzion-Vizion.jpg I *love* it whenever a MFG is willing to go in another direction. That kind of courage is what broke the chain of "brown on brown on brown" interior decors with things like Jayco's Modern Farmhouse which has been HUGELY influential I'm not sure about this "deluxe apartment in the sky" concept, though. I love the idea, but there comes a point where I fear it begins to lose its functionality. I actually know the gentleman who managed Fuzion at the time the Vizion was made. I inquires as to why the Vizion project simply didn't prove ultimately successful. He advised the feedback they received at the time commonly included folks not wanting so many steps to get in/out, not feeling like they got a fifth wheel once they got inside (since you're basically only getting a travel trailer interior size like an Eagle trailer), and the belly storage (while being impressive for sure) was often left unused and effectively wasted space. He also cited towing concerns as the center of gravity for the RV was far higher than most RVs by shoving so much extra construction upward. I know there are definitely some folks who want/need that extra exterior storage, but I think models like the 3790RD Montana seen here kzread.info/dash/bejne/gqyfqtqbeM6bfag.html provide a great amount of exterior storage w/o losing the "feel" of a fifth wheel I'm very eager to see how the concept holds up over time. Palomino has always been willing to take some chances and I respect that about them. I think the River Ranch will do alright initially, but I project the interest in it will fade after the initial batch of buyers are fulfilled. But hey man -- I'm just one guy and I sure don't get everything right. Just two friends chatting. What are YOUR Thoughts?? I've obviously done enough talks LOL

    When we compared, we looked at Montana vs Pinnacle. The deciding factor for us was the amount of chemical eye watering that occurred in the Montana vs the pinnacle. My wife has sensitivities to chemicals and that was the clear decision maker for us. The invoice on my 2020 32 RLTS says on the bottom that it is manufactured with all wood products that meet California CARB standards. Very happy with our purchase. Great video! The other deciding factor was the interview you did with Chris Barth. He discussed how the two year warranty informs everything that they do. In order for a vendors component to be considered for Jayco, it is first submitted to Jayco engineering to determine if it can meet that standard. Thank you for all the info! On another matter, I am considering traveling to Elkhart to have the moryde independent suspension and disc brakes installed. What impact do you believe that would have on trade value?

    Between Northpoint and Montana. Which one would you choose Josh?

    Man.. MAN.. I think my answer depends a bit on the floor plan in question because they’re seriously on a level playing field overall For instance I prefer the Montana 3121RL personally over the north point 310RLTS BUuUuUuUuUuUuT I also prefer the north point 382FLRB over the Montana 3761FL so..

    @@JoshtheRVNerd I'm starting to lean towards a Riverstone legacy 39 RBFL. I really appreciate the washer and dryer in the half bath. Leaving considerably more space in the bed room. What are your opinions?
