What An Amazing Experience for you and Luna. The El Dorado Sapphire mine was worth watching you go through the bags of tailings you had. The blue color of the sapphire was beautifully made by nature. The bags you went through yourself were more quality than the mother lode bag. You look like you are learning more everyday as you travel across the country. Which mine did you visit? Just Spokane bar sapphire mine . Any advise on someone visiting a mine in Montana.

I went to the Spokane bar and el Dorado bar mines. They are run by the same people. Call ahead to make sure they know you are coming and what you want to do. Show up early. Bring lunch. Be ready for hard work. Ask if you can camp at the mine. I didn’t check out the other mines but I wish I did. The whole area is paradise. Do lots of research and come prepared.

What do safires value at?

From what I have heard, the facet grade stones are worth $100 per carat uncut. Meaning that I probably got well over a thousand dollars in stones. I spent $350 and $100 in trade on the gravel.

Sapphires are very valuable and coveted. The natural color of these stones is such that they don’t need to be color treated at all.

Can you spot them better with a blue light or uv black light?

I don’t think so. Sunlight is best. They stand out in the sunlight really well

@listennow5261 at night some sapphires will fluoresce if the iron content is low enough. Montana sapphires small amout will but need darker environment to see other then that the bright sunshine 🌞 will make the sparkle and very easy to see.
