MONSTERA PROPAGATION: How to Propagate Monstera deliciosa (2023)
My favorite Houseplant tools here: amzn.to/3sYJ3ta
Yesssss, finally I have created a video on how to successfully propagate a Monstera deliciosa!
In this video filmed over the course of a few months, I show step by step how to take a cutting of a Monstera, grow new roots, and then plant it up so that you can grow more and more of one our favorite houseplants of all time.
While this video explicitly shows propagating a Monstera deliciosa, the basic techniques involved in this video can be used for many other houseplants including Philodendron, Pothos, Rhaphidophora, and other Monstera.
I hope you enjoy the video! if so, don't forget to Like the video and consider subscribing to my channel, that is full of plants all the time #houseplants #garden #plants

How? I mean the leave he cut off was keeping it from being placed in a vase. Or should he have placed it in a wider bucket.

@@Wotoriouscan you put it in water bucket or he could have cut that leaf off with its own node, and now he has two cuttings. One cutting with one leaf and another cutting with two leaves.

I appreciate your video so much. Thanks for showing the new leaf growth from the cutting you took from the main plant my concern was if another leaf will come in. I also appreciate you for showing the propagation a month later giving a clear visual understanding of how the process goes and take place. It took so many video before getting to yours for me to say okay I got it haha. Great information, Devin. Thank you! My neighbour gave me a Monstera deliciosa last year having shoveled all her walks (along with mine) during the winter months here on Vancouver Island. It was big when she gave it to me in so much that its growth could no longer support the pot. It kept tipping over. I will heed your advise and do some propagating to make some babies and share them with all my other neighbours. On a side note, my twin brother propagates all his plants in his aquarium. It's warm with lots of free fertilizer. Cheers! Darryl

Hi! If I’m propagating some monstera cuttings in water…I was planning on transplanting them back into the mother plant where I cut them from. Do I need to take the mother plant out of its pot in order to add the newly rooted propagations with it? (I’m trying to make the mother plant fuller) Or do you have any suggestions on how I should plant the probations back into the mother plant pot?
@plantvibrations
Жыл бұрын
Hey Ashley, you can definitely transplant them back into the mother plant! Use some chop sticks to make a deepish narrow hole into the soil that you can easily plant the cutting into and give it some water and that's about it! No need to remove mama
@ashleyroseglanville6241
Жыл бұрын
@@plantvibrations thank you so much for your help! One more question, what if I didn’t allow my cuttings to callous before putting them in water? They’re doing fine and growing roots in water, but I just don’t want anything to rot when I put them back with momma. Should I take them out of the water and cut the stem and wait for them to callous, then put them back into the water? Or just leave them be
@plantvibrations

@@ashleyroseglanville6241 as long as you let it grow sufficient roots in water prior to transplanting, no need to allow it to callous over. that would ruin the cutting

Hi adam, you can definitely prop a snake plant from a single leaf. By placing directly in the soil it should create roots within a month or two, but you can also start them by placing them in a glass of two inches of water and they’ll form roots in about a month, and then they’ll be ready for soil

Buuuttt waaaiiittt. When you put the cutting in water was it tap water? Distilled? Spring? Did you put fertilizer in the water for extra nutrients? Did you completely change the water when it got dirty, or just added more water? I heard that you shouldn’t clean out the water because it gets rid of the root hormones. I’m wondering because i have a monstera cutting right now and am using the water method, but it got some white fuzz thingy on the root and where i made the cut it was turning black but I let it callous over (3 days) ☹️. If you have an aquarium air stone and add that to the vase, you'll get *way* more rooting. I added a single-leaf node to a vase with an air stone about 6 weeks ago mostly just as an experiment, and the roots are wild - totally filled the vase, probably like 10x what this node got! I'm kind of hesitant to take it out and see if it keeps growing, even though the roots have gone crazy there hasn't been any new leaf growth yet.
