Monster Mash It was Halloween. I was eleven years old, standing inside the living room of my friend’s house. It was around 5 o’clock; the sun beginning to set. My friend Bryan was in the bathroom. Bryan’s sexy mom was in the kitchen, wearing a cat-woman outfit with a tight, black skirt and black high heels. She was leaning over the sink, doing dishes, dancing to a record playing in the background. The song was Monster Mash. It was nice to see her having a good time. But I could see a sadness in her movements- a loneliness glowing from her body. I’d never seen Bryan’s father at the house. He never talked about it. Now, twenty some odd years later, whenever I hear that song as an adult (accidentally hearing it on U-tube or on some internet site just exploring the net), it takes me right back to that moment, watching Bryan’s mother dancing with The Loneliness Grief Monster she was trying to internally slay.

This being on April's "labor mix" was freaking hilarious.
Every year on holloween my dad woul put on a tape of spooky noises. But halfway through it would just start playing the monster mash.
I used to listen to this on my CD player and have small dance parties in the middle of January when I was little
my guy is such a goat. He comes back every year to say happy halloween
