Monster Hunter World - Starter Guide, Hunt like a Pro!

Ойындар

Monster Hunter: World introduces a living, breathing ecosystem in which players take on the role of a hunter that seeks and slays ferocious beasts in heart-pounding battles that unfold across the vast ever-changing terrain. Retaining the series’ skill based progression and robust crafting system, players gear up to venture on quests to seek and slay monsters, progressively improving their skills to become the ultimate hunter. Loot collected from fallen foes can be used to create new equipment and armor upgrades styled after the monsters they’ve slain, allowing hunters to survive the elements and defeat the tougher opponents that await them.
Monster Hunter: World delivers a seamless gameplay experience allowing players to move freely across map areas that comprise the living ecosystems and dynamically transition from day to night. The landscape and its diverse inhabitants play a critical role in each quest as players strategically use the surrounding environment including terrain, vegetation and wildlife to their advantage in battle or become hindered by the hazards they present. Hunters must use their cunning and abilities to track and maneuver their targets throughout the intense, evolving battles.

Pro tip: item pouch full? Need that mandragora, honey, herb, etc.? Pick the item up, then immediately press cancel, it will pop up leave this item? Select yes and when you drop it your Palico will automatically pick it up...and your Palico has a ton of item slots.

The biggest tip I can give is work on evading. If you get hit, that’s fine, but that’s time spent not attacking. Practice and understand the monster, you’ll be able to tell when you have an opening for bigger attacks, otherwise go for short ones

The game can be pretty rough if you're new to the series but it is still more forgiving than the previous entries. The best advice I can give is to keep playing and use a weapon that feels Right for you. If you're struggling too much and getting frustrated, take a break from the big hunts and go to the training ground. Use different weapon types until you find one that just does it for you. For me, at the moment, that's the heavy bowgun.

I beat that big ass Trex you see after the first few quests by hit and evading him. It took over 30 minutes but it's doable, just don't get hit haha.

That was really helpful. Especially the part how the Smithy works. Most beginners guides are limited to pick whatever weapon you want, practice at the training ground, chose a mission, eat in the canteen, go hunt.

Pro tip you can do major damage to a monster while its sleeping by bringing big barrel bombs and placing two by its head, helps secure the kill. You can also do this with a weapon that puts the monster to sleep which is called sleep bombing

  • @GunpowderCoffee

    @GunpowderCoffee

    6 жыл бұрын

You should have mentioned that the first hit that connects to the monster while it's sleeping deals double damage. Some iterations of the series even treat it as 3 times damage. (EDIT: I just checked and World has a 3 times multiplier) You should, for that reason, place Bombs and make sure you hit the bombs before hitting the monster when using wider hitting attacks to ignite the bombs. The nice thing about bombs is, that they always deal fixed damage, as they ignore the monsters defense, so the return is almost always the same, even when fighting high level monsters. High level monsters only have slightly higher HP but the main point, why monsters feel tougher, is because their hardness and defense increase as well, increasing effective HP. Bombs ignore the higher defense, as well as Crag-shots and explosions of other weapons like Gunlance. When using the gunlance to sleep bomb, keep in mind, that the wyvern fire, as well as burst fire, count as separate hits, since you fire multiple shells (even wyvern fire fires multiple shells, except the bowgun wyvern fire, which is only one gunlance wyvernfire shell). The gunlance dealing multiple hits with wyvernfire is important because this way only the very first hit gets the sleep damage bonus. You can, however, use the wyvernfire to ignite the bombs, as long as the bombs are between you and the monster, so the sleep bonus applies to the bombs, which deal more damage, after which the monster will get hit with your wyvernfire. Using heavy damage dealing attacks like this, to ignite bombs, was also popular in earlier iterations of the game because attacks like those take a long time to set up (greatsword charge for example) and a sleeping monster is the perfect opportunity. Using a heavy attack to ignite the bombs allows you to hit the monster with the bombs for the generally higher damage, modified by the sleep damage multiplier first and THEN basically get a free good attack in with your great sword or other weapon of choice. Keep in mind, that bombs might hit you when they explode, though. Every player can lay down 2 big barrel bombs, so bringing more people to the sleep-bomb party blows real good, even though the effective HP of monsters in online play is increased. Edit: TL;DR: Make sure your hardest hitting thing hits first, since only that number gets a 3 times increase.

For tree nets the tree need to be destroyed, not sure if you can do it with either a big weapon or bombs, I lure the monster close so his own attacks destroy it. Also keep an eye on the map, sometimes you will see a paw icon, this means there are local palicos in that area, if you lure a big monster and mount it, several palicos will appear and restrain the monster for a while.

0:45 It's actually not if you've encountered the monster, when there's a "???," you had to have receive that item that is unkown once, whether it be from rewards or carving or even dropped onto the ground. I could be wrong but that's how I thought it worked. Just an example, I have seen a high rank legiana before from several missions. Keep in mind I've fought rathiens and other monsters while seeing the legiana in high rank but never fought it. Later, the legiana got into a fight with a pink rathien and it dropped a legiana scale+. I didn't fight the monster. I went to the hub and the entire high rank legiana armor set was unlocked

It's based off the loot but not a specific piece. Like you said you had a + scale drop and that unlocked the set. Just "encountering" isn't enough, but in a fight, even if you lose, you'll get at least 1 piece of it generally.

Cowboy or community, how does trapping work? I have managed a thunder bug trap, but that's it. Seen streamers trapping monsters in pits and vines, and the rewards are meant to be better. Am I missing something?

Once the monster is tired (i.e. limped, you see skulls on minimap, it goes back to its nest to sleep), catch it in a paralysis or pitfall trap and then use 2 tranq bombs/tranq shots.

I really like the switch blade and the dual blades. The dual blades have been my favorite along with the switch blade which can be tricky to use

I'm a noob to this game, but I like to think I've become fairly adept with the greatsword. Ultra greatswords were my favourite weapons in Dark Souls, so I think that helped a little.

Hey Cowboy my wife wanted to buy me this but we don't own a PS4 Pro/Xbox One X(or w/e the new one is), only got an Xbox one S. Is it worth it for that or should I just wait for PC this fall?

Devils Voice better than having to run over the place like WoW just to get something done .. kinda like having it all on a quick menu imo
